  • I really need to stop myself everytime I think how nice it is the birth announcement thread has been quiet... that's always about the time a new one pops up.

  • Best and worst part of my day.... 3am DH got up to head to the airport. LO decided he was ready to be up too so he started kicking HARD for a good hour. Like u other ladies, I am having trouble sleeping on my side as easily as I was so now I'm more on my belly with a pillow propping me up. That position does not work what-so-ever if LO kicks... It HURTS real bad. Yay for kicks and a healthy baby... Boo that he had to start at 3am. *Yawn*
  • Just scheduled my c-section.  Hopefully I won't need it.  I'm trying for a v-bac but since they won't induce with that, I have to have a back up scheduled.  So, we know at the very least this kid will be here by July 9th!
July 9th is a fabulous birthday. Not only will baby rose share a birthday with MOI, he/she will also share one with Courtney Love, OJ Simpson and Tom Hanks.

    (Hey, 2/4 ain't bad.)
AND your LO will share a birthday with my amazing DD1 July 9, 2011

  • @boraborababy - i'm very close to resorting to sleeping in our living room recliner b/c nothing else is working.  no matter how many pillows (body pillow included) i put, they always end up on the floor or smothering my husband, and i always end up in pain.  i was able to nap on the recliner for 90 minutes pain free, so...

question to the population (may or may not be post-worthy) - when i got my last panel two weeks ago, my white blood cell count was "elevated"...indicating that i may be fighting an infection. the doctor said it may be nothing, but they took more blood today just to be sure.

has anyone else had this?  how'd it turn out?  he said not to worry, that it wasn't crazy high, but i have an anxiety disorder, so of course my mind is going toward the worst...ugh :(

  • We're being gifted a king sized mattress and box springs from a family member and I am SO EXCITED. It comes with a frame, but no headboard or footboard, so I asked DH if we could buy the one I've been lusting over at Ikea.

He said no... that headboards just get in the way and "make too much noise". *BLUSHING LIKE HELL HERE*

So to win, I told him, "but what are you supposed to tie my hands up to without a headboard?"

Guess who's getting the headboard and footboard she wants?
When we were shopping for a new bed, a major factor was how easily I could hold on to it and how sturdy it was...We definitely passed on some that didn't pass that test (which is a weird one to try and do when you're out shopping...)

Do I want to ask how you tested that? Lol.
There was some stealth work going on.  DH is a pretty good look out while I was "checking out the goods"  8->
  • Omg. So I complained in MBF that I was swollen and gained a lot and was worried about my appointment today... I was right I guess! I was sent to the hospital with high blood pressure. It came right down in the hospital and the baby looks good (head down already and so big!) But she took me out of work! Ah! Im still in shock over how fast that went down. I know I have to do what I have to do but Im hoping off until further notice means til my next appointment and not until after I deliver. I cant wrap my head around this. And I need to go figure out some lower sodium options for me... hopefully more water and less salt can make this as bad as it gets!

  • I am not a big fan of when people "babydoll" or "honey" or "darlin" me. It just weirds me out a little... but I live in the South, I'm kinda used to it by now.

  • So DD and I went to Barnes and Noble buying to some new board books. She was quite interested in the nooks loaded with kid stuff so we started to play with one. Some around 6 year old boy wanders over with his grandma and starts to play with another one. Emme wandered over to look over his shoulder and he actually pushed her!

I'm not saying he had to be happy she was suddenly in his space, but come on! All grandma could muster was a be nice dear.

  • Someone please put a finger one why exactly it boils my blood when a 21 year old barista calls me, "Darlin'" every single time she sees me.

I'm a customer, her elder and not her "darlin'" but am I being oversensitive?

I've been in Customer Service for over 15 years now and I cannot comprehend why this is OK. Thoughts?
My OB calls me "honey" all the time.  Somehow it didn't even occur to me that might be weird until now!  People calling me nicknames usually bothers me too... although I think I only notice if there is something else I don't like about their personality.  Maybe it's something else that drives you crazy?  Is she overly chipper before you've had a chance to drink some coffee? ;-)

  • DH just asked me if a work trip to Chile July 7th- 9th is out of the question. Ummm, the due date is July 20th, what do you think I'm going to say genius?

Yeah....I'm not sure foreign governments are real keen on letting really pregnant women travel into the country anyway.

Oh no, this was a work trip for him. He was pretty much asking if I thought him being gone that close to the due date was a big deal. This pregnant gal will be at home.

Nope nope nope!!!  I would have said something to him regardless of who his "guardian" was.  There is no way that I would have let my kid get away with doing that to someone.

@tallmomma29 it's a place I don't often go to, I've never struck up a convo with her, I just don't think you should call people by a term of endearment if you don't know them.

But I could just be a frigid yankee. I dunno. It bothers me, I don't like it, I'm exploring this a bit too much I think. :)
Haha you are from the very frigid North!  We northwesterners don't exactly have a reputation for being warm and friendly (therefore terms of endearment with strangers are not common)  ;-)  This could be why I'm ok with it now... too many years of exposure to my southerner husband and his southern family!  In the south when you walk around, complete strangers will smile and say hi to you  :-/

(ETA:  I don't mind the strangers saying hi now thing.. unless they are creepsters.  The southerners are warming my cold, frigid heart
    :x)

  • For me, it depends on the person using the term if endearment. If you're at all creepy, then No. If it feels fake, then no. You definitely come to expect to hear them in the South though.
