Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • Anyone else a crazy hypochondriac? I think it's my anxiety but every once in a while I convince myself I have something, Dr. google, then get myself all panicked about it. Most recently I decided I had a vaginal prolapse (nooo!) because I decided to check on things down there and I thought it looked different, after looking back to normal. Seriously I was worked up all weekend about it. I just scheduled my 6 week appointment and spoke to my OB and he was like "um no/just stop". I should feel foolish, but I just feel relieved. It's okay to laugh at me.

I have a friend who though she had stomach cancer because of some cramps

  • I have a hard time with smoothies when I make them myself. Like I know there's veggies in there and think it tastes funny, even though I know it tastes like delicious fruit.

I can't do veggies in my drinks either. Grossss.

    Anyone have an Ergo carrier?
Is the infant insert worth the extra money? Penny IS pretty small still. Not quite 9 pounds and 6 weeks...

Used it once. Andrew is 8.5lbs---did not need it this weekend---plus too damn hot!!!

I generally don't mind it since we don't get terribly adventurous with the veggies, I dig green food so it doesn't bother me that it ends up green, and we tend to stick to things like spinach and carrots and cucumber that get pretty easily overpowered by the fruit. Plus I know what's in it so it doesn't weird me out like the bottled stuff you get in the store.. But today was a coffee treat kinda morning. Oh wait. Afternoon. This whole "sleep when the baby sleeps" thing reminds me of being hungover. Without the fun part.

At the dr for G's 2 month check up and shots. He's so happy right now and giving me the sweetest smiles. Poor guy has no idea what is about to happen...

Question about carriers in the summer: is it possible for LOs to overheat in them? I've been excited to use it this summer, but now that I'm using it I'm nervous about the heat factor. How do you tell if they are just sweaty vs dangerously overheated?

I got a gauze wrap- lighter and thinner than other wraps. Hoping that keeps us a little cooler!

  • CD moms, what do you use for dirty storage? I was using a wet bag but it wasn't big enough and it was too much of a hassle to open and drop the dirty in. Now we're using a garbage pail with a step that opens the lid, with a garbage bag that we reuse a few times. I can still smell the diapers when I walk into the room, and I hate it :/

Our bag is large and has an elastic opening. We have it lining a hamper. It may seem counterintuitive, but more air on diapers make them smell less. Try not closing the lid.

  • Ooookay hate to do this but I'm curious to know what you guys think and my pediatrician has been a butthole lately and hasn't been getting back to my texts:

Merri just blew up two diapers in the last 30 minutes. Only had one poop earlier today. She's fine otherwise. Color of poop was fine. Maybe was a bit looser but she's chillin like a villain and doesn't seem too concerned. Question: Should I be concerned she's pooped so much in such a short time?

Mine blew up 2 in 3 minutes. I think it's all good.

How do I get formula thru at the airport? We are going to Tucson in August and this just hit me.

They treat it like medicine- larger quantities are allowed.

I think there are allotments for formula. Or maybe not mix it?
  • I can't believe how easy the EASY method is and how well it works. DD was all over the place until we worked out this schedule. She has way settled down and I can actually get stuff done!
  • I just witnessed a seven year old boy get hit by a suburban. I am literally traumatized.

Cora slept in her PNP (instead of on or directly next to me) for the third night in a row last night. This also means mommy and daddy slept in the same bed three nights in a row. Oh hai hubby, I almost forgot who you were.

how did you get her to sleep in the PNP?? LO sleeps on me/next to me every night and I keep saying I'm going to put her in the pack n play, but I'm always so tired I just keep putting her on me.

I wish I knew what is different now. I think it was just a matter of waiting till she was a little older. I tried a couple times a week and suddenly now she is okay with it. She will also nap in her swing now, where before she would wake up after ten minutes or so screaming to be held.
  • I did everything I could to help. He was unconscious, broken arm, and handle bar through his arm. He was flying through an intersection when the suburban was already in the middle and smashed right into the side. He was going down a steep hill and was flying.I hope he makes it through alright. He was not wearing a helmet. I know the driver and have for a long time. She is one of the sweetest people on this earth. She laid on the ground with him repeatedly apologizing, and keeping his back still. I am praying for every single person involved. Awful.

    I'll be thinking about her!
  • @aviola329‌ we do probably 20 minutes or so. Usually it's kicking on her play mat. She probably asleep 10-15 minutes after I put her down for a nap.
  • It's probably 1-2 hrs. She's up at 7 every day so we start then and she usually goes 3 hours or so between feedings during the day. And we've been lucky that this week she goes 4 hrs during the night.

Ugh. DH came home from work around 5:30 and had a friend come over around 6:30 and they worked on a gutter system for their tailgating company tents. His friend left at 9:30 at which point DS had woken up again after being put down for the night. DH's response "I'll get him - I feel bad you've had him all day."

I totally snapped at him and told him to not bother at that point, but dammit, the help would have been appreciated at any time earlier in the evening, like when I was trying to do laundry and keep DS happy. Just phoning it in at the end of the night does not cut it.

  • Add me to the TP DH list. After he insisted on "spending some quality time" with dd (which meant she slept on the newborn lounger after I asked him not to let her sleep there) he falls asleep half leaning on her! So I move her into the pnp and tell him to go to bed. He agrees to take the 12 feeding. Well now she is wide awake because her routine got messed up. he's snoring in our nice comfy bed and for the second night in a row because of him I'm on the couch with her. This is all after he "got up" with her at 7 this morning. And then procceed to put her in the swing and take a shit for 30 minutes leaving her to fuss and wake me up. The man is so lucky that yelling at him right now would just wake her up even more...
  • I just silent ugly cried because Merri looks like hubster which isn't bad...she just doesn't look like me at all. Hormones are still kicking my ass I guess.
