So where is it ok to throw away diapers? We CD at home but I've been using sposies for dr apts and outings. I know at the dr you have to take the dirties with you. Is It ok too throw them away in a public restroom trash can?

  • @dani+california‌ main thing to keep in mind with any carrier is that if legs are out you want baby to be supported knee to knee like in that picture and the Bjorn doesn't allow that. The K'tan does, I haven't used one but I'm pretty sure you can get that same position shown in the picture.

My babe is 5 weeks - and we were invited to a friends beach condo next weekend. Would you bring your baby in the pool at this age?

My dr said I could give childrens tylenol in a very small dose if she had a fever after hep b. (she didn't)

@dani the ktan and moby both give safe instructions for how to wear baby legs out.

    @megla i was told 6 months for a pool

Does anyone's LO nap in their crib? The last few days DS has been fussy when I put him in the newborn napper part of his PNP in the living room but when I bring him up to the crib he settles down. I'm thrilled he likes the crib finally but I'm a little worried about when he goes to the person who will be watching him because she won't have a crib.
  • Can you get a sleeping baby to burp? I try to burp LO about 3 times a bottle because of gas/colic issues. But sometimes on the 3rd attempt she falls asleep and then no burp. Just wondering out-loud....I hate to change her position and wake her up (which sometimes gets a burp).
  • Mmk724Mmk724 member
    That's awesome! I hope it continues :)
  • Is there any reason to not let your LO take naps in her crib during the day? Can it cause daytime/nighttime confusion? I'd like to try it to see if she'll sleep in it during the day because right now she only likes sleeping in my arms during the day.

Ok so next question... For those whose babies do sleep in the crib for naps, (if there are any) do you keep it dark and put on white noise? If I do this will he nap in other environments or I'm wondering if he will need these specific conditions to nap?

It's not dark, but I do turn on the humidifier for naps and night sleeping. She does all of her sleeping in the PNP.

Is the PNP in a room away from the main living area?

  • I am reading All the milestone and brag threads and getting a little paranoid. My baby is 8 weeks on Sunday and perfectly healthy (according to doctor visit 2 weeks ago) but I am wondering can birth weight affect development? I'm planning on asking the dr at our next appointment but was just curious if anyone had any experience.. My LO was born at 39 weeks at 5.5 lbs (4.9 when we left the hospital) and was 7.11 lbs at our last appt on May12

@ImnAtari‌ mine still leak a little 4 weeks later but the worst of it stopped after 1 week. I used cabbage that I had refrigerated to help with engorgement if you're having any issues!

ETA agree with @Dani about wearing a bra all the time at the beginning

Yes, it stays in our room, but we have a small house, everything feels like the main living area ;)

Another ktan question and paging @RedDawnsRevenge‌ In another thread I think you mentioned using the sash already. In all instructions they don't use the sash for newborn holds. But LO is getting bigger and starting to slump - would the sash be good for this? I can't find a picture example.

I use the sash for extra support. Makes me feel like she's held in there nice and snug

@poru‌ I used the ash the other day because DSDecided he hates legs in now. We've switched to legs out which needs the sash. I don't see why you couldn't add it to a different hold just for extra support.

How old is your LO and how much does he weigh if you don't mind me asking? My LO hates legs in and I think she'd much prefer legs out but she's 7 weeks and about 9lbs

Also, I use the sash with the kangaroo hold too just for extra support!

  • What does your LO wear at home? In NY we are transitioning into spring/warmer weather. I was putting DD in onesies with legs/feet, but recently she seems more comfy in a onesie with legs exposed and socks with a swaddling blanket. She's 1 month today.
  • Quinn seems to startle when he's sleeping. He'll be fast asleep and fine, then he'll throw his arms up and breathe in sharply. He settles down after and goes back to bed, just wondering if this is normal? I want to make sure he's getting a good sleep, it just seems to interrupt him quite frequently.

My LO does this too. I think this is normal and called the startle reflex(?) which is why swaddling is good at this age.

My dd does it too. I think its pretty normal.

  • Ok, don't laugh at me but...how do you wear disposable nursing pads? Do you stick them to your bra or your skin? They never seem to stay put!!

  • For the people who bed share, I often hear it said that it's easier for night feedings and getting more sleep because you don't have to get up to breastfeed. But I was wondering, don't you have to get up to change LO's diaper anyways? Are you not changing diapers at night? My LO sleeps in his crib, but always needs a diaper change before a feeding and then sometimes poops during the feeding too. So I'm just curious about how one might be getting out if bed less with the bed sharing.
  • If I were to start something like a NBR Stupid Questions Thread for people to get advice about whatever, would you guys lynch me or would it get derailed with a bunch of "let me Google that for you" links? =/

I have everything needed for a diaper change sitting on something next to the bed and just change on the bed. I only bed share from 6am or so to when we get up. She is in a rnp for most of the night but I still do diaper changes on the bed.
  • When is it ok to introduce a pacifier when breastfeeding? The LC mentioned waiting a period to avoid bad latching habits but I cant remember how long she said to wait.

I think I post here too often. Ahaha So I know this is premature but I was thinking about it today. We don't have a regular dining table at our house; we have a pub set in our kitchen, so the chairs and table are taller than a regular set. Do they make high chairs for pub sets? I'm just wondering how we're going to feed LO at the table. None of the chairs have arms either so strapping a seat in probably won't work. Just curious!
Your table sounds just like ours!  I'll be watching this!

Could you ladies maybe get a hook on seat?

Not sure if this would work with your tables?

Eta there's also booster seats you can attach to chairs that don't have arms.

  • When does cradle cap go away and when does the "molting" stop? LO will be a month old Monday. Her forehead is so flaky! We gave her the first bath, and it seemed to make it worse.
  • Help! Poor dd has a awful diaper rash. It's day three of it, and just doesn't seem to get better. Aveeno and Burt's creams didn't do a thing, so now we're giving desitin a try. Any tips to speed up the healing process?

We had to go to the doctor and ended up getting a prescription diaper cream.

We introduced at hours old - she had maybe nursed 3 times before introducing it. She has no latching problems or nipple confusion. She also gets a bottle almost once a day at just about 2 weeks old. No nipple confusion here.

We don't bed share but dd sleeps in the rnp right next to my side of the bed. I have a waterproof pad, wipes and diapers on my night stand. I just change her on the bed throughout the night.

@MaglioMomma have you tried aquaphor?  Works for us.  LO had a bad little rash that was bumpy and red.  Aquaphor did the trick.

Are you supposed to brush LOs tongue??? It has formula on it and it looks like it's getting caked on. Doesn't seem to cause discomfort.

You can scrub it with a wet washcloth. If it doesn't come off though it may be thrush. I'm thinking mine has thrush... :-/

  • @honeyzoo I asked my OB about the tenderness/numbness in that CS area and she said it would be about a year before I regained all feeling there and felt back to normal. It doesn't bother me unless LO kicks while nursing!
