Have to AW this for a second. I'm super close with my grandparents as my mom was a single mom when I was growing up. Today was my grandpas 93rd birthday. What did he do? He stained his deck and went golfing with my brother. While I hung out with grandma & Chase and are doughnuts;) look how cute he is!

Ellie sometimes grabs hers so hard she starts crying and I have to peel her little fingers away! I laugh but I feel so bad lol

I went off on DH on our walk this morning and he actually listened and took what I said to heart. He has been amazing but the little things have been bothering me.

Here's hoping it lasts the rest of his paternity leave!

LO has not only learned to grab my hair (thank God I got about 10 inches cut off my hair the day before I went into labor, best decision ever), but he also has a tendency to flail his arms and subsequently slap himself in the face. Ensue wailing. I swear, this kid can squeal! The nurses at the hospital actually brought him back to us because he would cry and wake up the other babies... lol

But wine for the win tonight. I pumped a huge 5 oz bottle the other day (way to go, tit!) and just gave it to him so I could finish my overly large glass of wine.

ETA, and the wine was super necessary. My work keeps bothering me about stuff they need like right stat NOW, when I'm on maternity leave. Makes it hard to enjoy this little critter when I have a black cloud hanging over my head.

I'm going to murder DH. I get Aiden mostly calmed down (since he refuses to nap again this evening) and I ask him to hold Aiden while I get a swaddle together. Instead of letting me swaddle him, he wants to let him lay on his chest. Aiden wasn't tolerating that with me and within two minutes was worked up and screaming. DH says he'll handle it, but what he doesn't get is he'll get to sleep tonight (as usual) while I'm up every two hours because Aiden is over tired. Ugh.

My daughter has my love of warm sensations on naked skin. Bath time has always been popular, and now that her stump fell off she's been showering with me and seems to consider it an extra bonus that I'm there, and warm and wet too. Shower = most docile awake baby ever.

Also, we bought a blow drier to dry off her bum after diapers. We didn't know how she'd take it, esp at night, but we use the warm setting and she freaking loves it. So much so that it quiets her if she's melting down during a change. Sometimes I'll turn it on and just blow it on her bare skin if she's fussy. DH calls it her "spa treatment" and we just laugh as she stretches and calms under the warm breeze.

@dani+california‌ omg so much time alone! I would go stir crazy! The most I did alone was A 5pm- 10am. The first 3 weeks I was alone and as soon as DH walked through the door I would bolt sobbing the whole way. Even though they are great babies my sanity goes out the window!!

Questions.. LO has been only having 1 or 2 poopy diapers a day the last 2 days.

tons of pee but the poop has gone down dramatically.. thoughts?

My pedi said after awhile bf babies can go a week without pooping and still be ok as long as they don't look like they are in pain. DD usually goes 2-3 days.

Penny goes a few days without pooping too. 2-3 days usually. Doesn't seem to bother her! She has a ton of wet diapers every day though.

@KatieGummow‌ @macgrs @SoulTermination‌ I was nervous to try it, too, but a few of my friends told me how awesome it is when they're little. I don't know that I'd try it when they're all bigger and wiggly, but Josie tends to go really still in the shower, so w'll see how it goes. If she starts getting wiggly I'd prob sit down in our tub and use our detachable shower head, but our tub is tiny so I prefer standing for now.

What we do is I get in and DH hands off the naked baby. I don't want to risk not having two feet firmly on the shower floor with her in my arms, so I don't step over the tub edge with her. I put her back into the crook of my left arm cupping her side against my body and hold her against me with my right hand. I dip her lower body into the shower stream, trying not to get back splash in her face. DH usually holds the shampoo, or else I make sure it's at my fingertips, and he squirts a little into my hand. I wash her front with my right hand so that both hands are on her at all times, then rinse her off. I flip her over so she's cuddled against me, tummy to chest, and wash her back. Then I shield her eyes with my hand and dip her head into the shower stream, wash her hair and neck, then rinse. The whole thing takes five minutes, plus any extra cuddles I take at the end. Then I hand her off to DH who has been standing by the whole time with a towel.

The things that make me feel safe are these:
I never step over the tub with her. She's always a handoff.

I always keep both hands on her at all times, save getting a palmful of shampoo. But even then my hand is an inch from her body. She clings to me like a monkey in the shower, but I never want to take a chance.

DH is always within arms reach of us, supervising. We leave the back of the shower curtain pulled open so he is right there just in case. Plus, he mans the towel and takes over diaper and dressing so I get my nice, long shower afterwards.

It may seem like a pain, him having to stand by, but it's five minutes, way less prep than getting all my stuff together to bathe her in the sink, and it's seriously one of my favorite things ever.

@BiggerinRealLife‌ - i do that exact same thing with my little & he loves it! i was afraid at first, thinking he would be like a wiggly oiled piglet but once he is in the shower with me he relaxes and just lets me wash him up. he loves his hair being washed. he sticks his tongue out a lot and it's so cute, like he is trying to drink the water. i read on here that others had tried it and i was curious and wanted to try it for myself. we love it & a great way to get the cuddles in

This. I stress out so hard just giving the baby a bath (last time my mom was helping and her hand slipped and baby hit her head....ugh! I have PTSD) I can't imagine taking a shower with an infant. How would you clean yourself? I would need about 3 more hands I think...

It would totally be a 2 person job. Like Birl explained. You'd have to hand LO off to wash yourself. I think I'm going to try and convince DH to help us do it tomorrow. DD loves her bath so I bet she'll love showers too!

We use muslin A+A blankets during the daytime, but those SwaddleMe blankets at night. Lifesavers, for us! Haha! Tougher for little dude to get out of, and way easier to get a tight swaddle at 3am.

Apparently I missed the memo that 330am is party time in my house. My dog had to go out and both boys woke up crying. I miss my DH at times like that. I was in the middle of feeding DS2 when DS1 woke up crying hysterically.

DH has showered just like BIRL described since DS1 stump fell off. They still shower together 2 years later, and DS1 loves it! DH did it a few times with DS2 before we left and once we are back together, he will do it again. He's in charge of showers when we are together.

Well we survived by ourselves last night. But I am totally exhausted thanks to dd not really sleeping very well. We have such a busy day so I can't nap with her. Hopefully she's back to her 3 hr self tonight.

All of this is exactly how we do it with Lucas. Except DH does the showering. Luke LOVES it he will hold him right up to the shower head and let it run over his face too. He's the most calm relaxed baby ever when he showers!
