@aronie82 I've just had my share fair and ten some of anxiety attacks. Seriously though...they're beasts and I'm realizing now how beastlier an infant makes them!
@pineconey - is he content, and do you have a bouncey chair? If yes to both, plop him in the chair in the bathroom and get your shower. I just successfully made that happen myself while DS was napping and MIL ran to the grocery store.
We did that a few days ago- he's hit and miss with the bouncy. Hated it yesterday. Loved it the day before.

Oh gosh I'm so glad I'm not the only one - I thought I was putting him in wrong or something!
@haziedaze what level do you have the top straps in? I can't get him in any farther on the middle 'rung' and I am afraid to put the straps in the top hole because it's pretty high above his shoulders...
I think it's on the lowest one. While RF you want the straps at or below their shoulders. So for us the straps start below his shoulders and come up and over them when I do this, which is fine since he is RF.

I am so frustrated with DH. She has the most ridiculously loud scream I've ever heard out of any baby, or air horn, or siren. I've learned to just deal with it calmly and hope that she has a good singing voice when she's older because she has some serious pipes. But he's a super anxious person and just can't deal with it. He's almost afraid of her! He gets so frantic, the kids run away, and I'm the only one who takes care of her. I can't get anything done because everyone looses their minds and hands her to me! I'm afraid to take her out in public in case she wakes up, she's that loud.
I shower at night. I could never shower otherwise. But this fenugreek makes my BO smell like celery and it drives me nuts! Why do I even HAVE BO? I really don't do anything that makes me sweaty.
Today I shall use that damn bouncer I'm gonna play some music in the bathroom with us and shower. Hopefully he doesn't decide he's hungry while I'm in there. He seems to be stuck to my boob today
@deidremaria - usually the white noise of the water of the shower is enough to keep them content. The ceiling/exhaust fan running will help too. Although hangry babies be hangry. Try doing it after a feeding to avoid the hangry baby interruption.
Re days/nights - I mostly follow their lead. Depends on how old too. At 6 days old DD is all over the place and sleeps all the time. But at a few weeks you can work on keeping them up a little more during the day to try and force the sleep at night. BUT sleep begets sleep. The better they sleep during the day, the better they sleep at night. Usually anyway.
Yes and Yes. As soon as LO finishes her first morning feed, I put her in the bouncer in the bathroom and I take a much needed shower. I can't function until that happens.
The more she sleeps during the day, the more she sleeps at night. Yesterday she only had one really good nap and last night was horrendous.
I really need to take newborn photos of DD. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. Then maybe I'll think about making birth announcements. I never did them for DS though.
I never did them before either, but I did an electronic one this time. Took me about 20 minutes.
Awesome part of side nursing? I can eat my yogurt while he eats. 2nd awesome part of side nursing? DS is the perfect length to kick me right in the incision. Ouch.
I envy your ability to side nurse, I have not figured that one out yet.

I can't side nurse yet because it hurts my incision to lay any way except on my back. However, we do nurse laying down with him on my belly and he loves it.

I love this position, especially since DS can latch himself now.

My mom, who is around LO almost every day and loves on her like crazy, was diagnosed with shingles today. Now I'm on rash watch and I'm outlawing any physical contact until her rash is cleared up.
Catching a break? What's that...
I had the chicken pox (what is contagious from shingles) when I was only a month old. Only one spot and immune for life!
I only had one pock as well! I was 3. Had a titer checked at 18 and still immune!
But apperantly I'm no longer immune to rubella... Had to get the mmr vaccine again after birth of LO.
They tried to give me ANOTHER tdap shot. I was like uhhh just got that a month ago, so no thanks. They didn't even ask me, she just walked in with a needle....

So what shade of green would Mr. President's shit be if he had a dairy allergy? I just changed a poopy diaper that was a yellowish green. More yellow than green but definitely not the regular mustard yellow.
I had to get the Rubella shot before leaving the hospital. They told me I didn't have immunity when I was pregnant but obviously couldn't get the shot while pregnant.
@deidremaria Sometimes my little man's is a little greenish, but when I wipe it, it's yellow. So I'd like to see what others have to say, but I think it's normal?
I hope it's normal, though if it isn't then I'll know why I hear his tummy rumble so much and I can make the necessary changes to my diet
I love this picture of Chase and my grandma (his great grandma) we go and visit once a week and she's obsessed with him (he is her 29th great grandchild) he looks like he's listening so intently to her!
I'm so stressed. Today I went and got a massage with a gift card that was expiring (which was wonderful!) and left dd with mil and 2 oz of milk. I was gone not even 2 hrs. Well dd freaked the entire time I was gone bc she was hungry (I did nurse before I left). Mil gave her the two ozs, still hungry. So she gave her 2 ozs of formula. She's been asleep for 5 hrs now. That's longer than she's ever been. Now I'm convinced my supply sucks and that's why she's been up every 2 hrs to eat. I almost want to give up fb and go to formula. I'll be so upset if she isn't getting enough and I'm assuming she was.
Isn't it amazing how much love your heart can hold? I had no idea my heart could grow any larger after DD. I was scared I wouldn't connect with DS, but damn, I'm so in love.
We go Friday for her 1 month check so we'll see about the weight. And I go to a lc on Tuesday. It just stresses me out that she might not be getting enough from me.
Am I the only one (I hate that intro, but seriously) that has been totally MIA? Jack is 2 weeks, 3 days today... Maybe because I'm a FTM but I don't even have time to go to the bathroom. Major shock at how different my life is now that he's here. Good days and bad days. He really is an "easy" baby, but shit, babies are a lot of work.
Sorry I missed out on all the caboosers births. I haven't even posted my own birth story yet. I feel like it's too late.
Re: showering, no bouncer here but DH had the bright idea to put LO's changing pad on the bathroom floor while we shower. Works like a charm. That being said, my mom did mention DS is a pretty easy baby...
My mom came to visit today, and I got two 2 hour naps! It was amazing, after a 36 hour marathon of unhappiness and no sleep. I also got to leave the house by myself for the first time (just to grab Taco Bell). I felt almost human
Oh, and I pumped for the first time today, almost 2 ounces! Hooray, boobs!
And I'll leave this gem here: I call it Cackling Babe (3 weeks old, I was tickling him and making idiotic faces)
