Is it appropriate to call him a little asshole?? That's how poor guy is acting today. A new diaper and a feeding every hour and maybe has napped for an hour since 6:30 this morning.... Mostly call him jr or peanut. I cannot wait for DH to get home!!! I need a nap.
Ah no!! He's just doing his baby job a nap sounds delicious.
Also. In the waiting room for Merriwether's first appointment. The room is PACKED with people and all I can see are germs, germs, GERMS! There's a snotty kid running around touching everything and everyone. He is the exact kid from the movie, A League of Their Own. Snot and annoying was and everything. I never thought I'd want to make my kid a bubble child but now I'm paranoid she'll catch her death here!
Ew. This is when I'm grateful my Pedi has a separate sick and well entrance. I never have to see the germ monsters when I take her in...
Today, Ansel is being Mr. Grumpy Gills Also, trumpet butt and shart monster. Mostly I call him kid. If I'm talking to the dog, I refer to him as "the people-puppy" or "funny bald puppy."
Do your LOs grunt all the time? Instead of squeels or coos, A mostly grunts. I think it is about gas b/c he squirms at the same time and stops after he farts or poops.
Mine grunts all the time! I also think it is gas. Trumpet butt is hilarious!
We call Claire baby boo, stinker, peanut, and squirmy bug.
Can I tell you about my left boob? Fed DS from both sides at bedtime, then pumped them both dry. Woke up at 4:30a and fed DS from both sides to discover my left was SOAKING wet! I'm still sleeping on my back exclusively, so it's not like I smushed it. Woke up at 9a, soaked AGAIN. DS is still sleeping so I'm pumping and the left just gave me 2oz in 3 minutes on a low setting. Dear goodness! Lefty! What is going on?!
I'm having problems with lefty as well. Fed LO sidelying in the bed in the middle of the night and didn't realize until she was done that I had given her a pretty thorough shower. Oops.
Nicknames: Snoogum Boogum, sweet pea, little darling, punkin, and between the hours of 5 and 8, fussy britches. She apparently didn't get the memo that it's supposed to be the witching HOUR, not the witching all-evening.
I don't know if this belongs in the BFing thread or stupid questions or what, but I'll try the wisdom of the RTT first - does anyone nurse in a baby wrap? How do you position the baby? He normally sits pretty high on my chest. Google is mostly showing me how tos with older babies and smaller boobs.
I did it in my stretchy wrap once so far. I just kinda shifted his position to make him sideways... lol. I don't think I'm going to be much help in explaining it, but I've got big boobs and I made it work!

I nursed in my k'tan yesterday! It was pretty fantastic. I'd post the pic I snapped of us doing it but there is quite a bit of boobage from that particular angle. I'm so happy she enjoy doing it too because I will be able to discreetly feed her while in public. I had her kind of sideways with her head at my right boob and feet down under my left boob. She was pretty cozy.
I breastfed in public three times today! I feel accomplished! And a little like an exhibitionist.
I breasted in public for the first time today! I feel really accomplished as well
I'm starting to feel very comfortable with my body. When I went into labor I stripped down to nothing for my entire 28 hour labor, then the next 48 hours I had multiple nurses grabbing my breast and helping me with latching.
After all that a little breast showing around babys head doesn't seem all that scandalous.
Nicknames - Handsome Man, Baby J, Honey Bear (that one goes for hubby, dog, and baby alike), as well as Fussy Britches... oh and Little Snorker when sounds stuffy
My boobs hurt so bad! Mostly the right. I thought engorgement had passed a few days ago, but it's back with a vengeance. LO didn't eat long enough to do much about it either. Ouch!
Got spit up on for the first time. He usually reserves that for when he's taking a bottle, so DH usually ends up with regurgitated breastmilk on himself. Today was my turn I suppose.

Handsome man here too! Fussy Britches is DH's favorite! Too funny!!
Thanks, ladies! The Boba's instructions say to keep the baby vertical, but there's no way to make that work with my body. I could make it work with him sideways, like y'all say, but it is so unsubtle - half my boob sticks out. I'll have to keep playing with it. I'm just so eager to have an easy way to NIP so I feel more comfortable going out and about. I always use the boppy at home; when I nurse without it, it's an awkward 2 handed affair.
@purespark This is sort of the position that worked for me. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eE6gq978Ze0. It's discrete when that chick does it - my whole giant boob was just hanging out there when I tried! But the baby could eat and I had one arm free.
I just looked up what position I was using. It's just the cradle position. It was really easy for me (even with big boobs) but I think that's because Penny is still so little. Good luck trying to make it work! Just play around with different positions and give it a shot at home. It was kind of accidental for us! She just started rooting and I was like, oh I guess you can reach boob from there!! And just whipped it out for her!
@deidremaria (and everyone else) My appointment went well today. Merri is up to 9.5 from 8.7 in 9 days. Everything about her is super perfect and healthy, thank goodness. Working on being more in tune with my hormones. My doc prescribed naps for me. Says that I HAVE to take at least one while baby is down.
Other than that, things are going well. Said my goodbyes to the mom. Didn't cry.
My MIl just suggested that my DS is fussy because hes not getting enough to eat (we EBF). He's having 15+ wet/dirty diapers per day and gaining fine. Pretty sure he's getting enough. But thanks for subtly blaming me for a normal fussy baby. :-@

nothing like struggling to get up off the sofa with a sleeping baby and your knee almost giving out. while catching your balance your bra underwire pops and stabs your boob. seriously? wtf
What kinda nicknames have your little ones gotten? I've been calling Dylan dill pickle, puppy, and crazy pants.
So many nicknames, lol. Alera Bear, Sweetness, T-Rex (due to the way she has her mouth open and swings her head back and forth when she can't find my nipple, lol), Princess, Grouchypants (when she's fussing), Burrito Baby (swaddled), The Kitten (when talking to the cat)... I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting. XD

I've been calling James "Scrunchy" for awhile because he is constantly scrunching his face up. We also call him Jamesie, which led to Jamesie Malone (like Bugsy Malone). Mostly I just call him "baby" though. The kid is probably going to think his name is Baby before long...
I haven't even been lurking, this past week has been a doozy, with no break from out of town grandparents, discovering that my boobs don't in fact work, trying to get kiddo back to birth weight and so many stinking doctor's appointments. I don't know why I haven't been able to bring myself to open TB app, I have missed you ladies and catching up on RTT is reminding me that I'm not the only new mom having a tough first couple of weeks. Both my dudes are upstairs sleeping and I am so thrilled to be in my kitchen bumping and cleaning.
At the risk of sounding creepy, gimme your boobs, @pineconey. Lefty is producing a whopping 5ml a pumping session at the most after religiously pumping around the clock since Friday. At this point, my breast milk is supplementing our supplemental formula, and we are looking at giving up on my milk coming in if it doesn't happen in the next week or so.
Sullivan (aka Turd, Fussy Britches, or Gurgle Guts) is a much happier kiddo now that we know that he was getting a whole lot of nothing from my boobs and we are feeding him actual food, though, so I am trying not to have all the feels about this FF thing.
Nicknames for Timothy? We call him Timmy, dd calls him "baby Timmy." We also call him Mr Crab because he can be exceptionally crabby. Also, Crabby Patty, King Crab, Crabalish. And Bubs.
I started calling dd "Chicken" when she was born because she didn't look like the name we chose for her. Almost 3 yrs later and her name fits her now, but I still call her Chick.

I'm so sorry you're having supply issues! I know that before getting pregnant being able to breastfeed seemed like an automatic ability that every woman has... But it's hard! And there are many aspects we have no control over.
I hope your milk does come in soon and you are able to breastfeed as you'd hoped. But don't beat yourself up. It sounds like you're doing everything you can
So my sister gifted us a baby ink hand/footprint picture frame thing for Easter. We attempted it this evening. The footprint turned out great, the hand...uh...yeah...not so much. We inked her little paw up and she made a fist and wouldn't open it and then kept trying to put her hand in her mouth! Ink everywhere! Epic FAIL! It was hysterical! Needless to say we got our first "real" bath afterwards. Might have to try the hand print when she is a little bigger....
