Will I ever be able to put this kid down without him getting upset about it? I feel trapped. I can't get anything done especially for myself and of course I feel incredibly guilty when I get annoyed at his crying. He doesn't deserve this.

Have you tried baby wearing? It's awesome having use of my two hands
    This!

At this point, everything's a phase and will get better! Your baby needs a mama who showers and eats and pees- don't feel bad about taking care of yourself, even if it means you have to have him cry for a few minutes. He won't die from crying! ;-)

I don't have a carrier :-(( I'm sending my bf to buy one on Monday when he rubs his other errands

Where do you put him down? I second the baby wearing, but sometimes you have to put the baby down to shower or have a break. I seriously don't even attempt to lay the kid down in anything other than swings or things that vibrate (bouncer seat, newborn napper, RNP). DS1 loved the swing, this one seems to prefer vibration. I'll put him in the crib to check out his mirror and do tummy time, but I don't kid myself that it'll last more than minute or two. Anyway something that buzzes or rocks might help if you're not already doing that!
I put him in the pack n play or the center of our bed (only when I'm staying in the room of course). I have a bouncer but he still seems a little small for it so I'm nervous about leaving him in it while I shower and such. I think I'm gonna get a swing. I was trying to avoid buying one without knowing for sure whether or not he'll like it. He's usually ok being put down but today he's extra fussy, clingy, and hungry. I honestly don't mind the clinginess but god damn when he's crying for three different reasons and I'm trying to meet all those needs we both get frustrated and I just feel like a giant dick.
  • I was naughty and machine dried my BumGenius 4.0s tonight. It's raining outside and I don't have anywhere indoors that I can air dry 20+ diapers.
Please tell me someone else here has dried theirs? I just don't have the patience today! LO is flying through diapers.

I dry mine in the dryer all the time ever since we moved last year. I haven't gotten around to hanging a line in the yard.

So I went to a friend's bridal shower today and took LO. Another mutual friend(who has an 8 month old who is on a schedule) condescendingly asked me if I was still feeding on demand *insert you are so stupid face* This is the second time she's questioned me about feeding on demand. To which I answered, well I kind of have to... I'm not gonna listen to him scream for an hour because it's not "time" for him to eat. I wanted to slap that bitch. My bullshit tolerance is low and I didn't ask for parenting advice!

But don't you know?! The clock knows when your baby is hungry better than your baby does!

I didn't know that whole feeding schedule shit was a thing until now. That sounds like torture. Ten times worse than self soothing if you ask me.
  • Am I crazy to hop on a plane with a 2 month old to surprise my mother at her retirement party? I'm kinda considering it...

No , it's actually the easiest time to travel with a child IMO. We flew with DS1 at 6 weeks and 3 months and he slept the whole way both times. Trips at 6, 12 and 15mo were progressively more difficult.

I dry mine on low sometimes too, just don't do it on high. I imagine over a long period of time it could make the PUL delaminate more quickly, but definitely not from just a few times. I'm trying to use mine for 2 or 3 kids, so try to hang as much as possible.
  • @MrsStanton87‌ Nothing so far. Some times I will take the covers out before the inserts are done since they dry faster. But none have delaminated and all the elastic is still in good condition.

  • @baileymama3‌ & @AprilMay9‌ - do either of you have end dates in sight if you don't go into labor naturally soon? My dr suggested I would be admitted Tuesday if no action by then....

Nope. Appointment Monday. Doc thinks I will have baby before then but I've heard that multiple times. She said their practice is 1-2 weeks over due. I need a scan for amniotic fluid not sure what other testing I can expect Monday.

Edit: @rockstarlaw‌ what is your due date? I'm 4/30
Literally ditto. Go in for NST and amniotic fluid test on Monday. Dr. thinks I will have baby before but like @AprilMay9‌ been hearing that for 2 weeks.

  • Just realized one day all these babies will be lazy teenagers who WON'T wake up and get out of bed. Parenting = mindfuck.

Can I get a preview of that, please? This growth spurt and wanting a bottle every hour or two is wearing on both DH and my patience. I miss the days when we used to stay in bed until 1 or 2pm on the weekends! And I feel bad that we are so frustrated with LO's lack of sleeping. I know growth spurts are uncomfortable and he can't help it, but for the love of god, can we have the days of his 4hr naps back? Please?
  • @AprilMay9‌ - same. I was due 4/30 also. I suspect my dr told me Tuesday since I have GD and at my last appointment the growth ultrasound estimated him at 8.14 (of course those can be off by like a pound)
  • @ColleenSwerb‌ thanks!! Since my bf is off tomorrow I'll do it for the first time then and then start doing it everyday while he's at work.
  • If Alera sleeps another uninterrupted 3-4 hour stretch, I'm gonna bow down and worship whoever discovered simethicone drops. [-O<

  • I tried side lie nursing tonight (doing it now actually) and it is seriously the best! She latches easily, and it's comfortable for me. I just have to make sure I stay awake, but since my hands are free, I can easily bump and browse fb, etc, to keep occupied. So glad I decided to try it, especially after the bad latching freak out kind of night we were having

I'm loving this position too! Much more comfortable and takes less time to get propped up and ready to nurse. Not to mention the free hands!
