@ColleenSwerb -- That sounds really overwhelming. It's tough with so much in the air (including baby). My recommendation, which is what I've been trying to do the past few weeks, is to remain in the present moment. Of these worries and stresses causing you anxiety, is there anything you can do about it RIGHT NOW? If so, do it. If not, then just acknowledge the stress and then let it pass. Things WILL work themselves out. In hindsight, we all know this is always true.
Today is my bday and it sucks so far. DH is in a horrible mood and I've cried once already. He hasn't even said happy birthday yet. He also has a short temper with the kids today. My back is still killing me. I just want to runaway today
Happy Birthday @Tferr02! I'm so sorry your day isn't awesome yet. I cried on my birthday too (It was on the 11th)...probably part of third trimester/last month birthdays.
I think you should treat yourself to something today...a mani/pedi? Heck, even going out for a coffee or tea! It's your birthday. Treat yoself!
After a weekend of prodromal labor- I'm watching frozen with DS on the couch this morning and eating cherry pop tarts. No baby but at least DS is quiet.
My MIL arrives tonight to stay with DS when this baby decides to come out. As far as MIL go I got a pretty good one so it'll be fine but I'm slightly worried about her being here before the baby is here; the idea of having to entertain her makes me anxious. Hopefully she's not expecting anything special. She's lucky im putting on pants.

Is anyone else finding it difficult to sleep? I don't know if it's the meds they gave me to recover from my C-section, or the adrenaline from the birth still, but I am only getting a 1-3 hour nap each day. And it's not for lack of opportunity or trying--DH practically forces me to take breaks and try to nap, but the sleep just doesn't come. Any advice, ladies?
I had hoped to have a baby this weekend so I wouldn't have to go into work.
Me as well, good luck with the marathon traffic.</
Someone told me the city shut down and it was almost like a holiday and no one ever went to work. Is this not true!?</p>
It's true! The crazy traffic is mainly due to streets that are closed and people coming in and out of the city at the same time. Patriots Day is a holiday for city offices and schools are on April vacation! It's weird and awesome.
@Stace0616 I'm not PP yet but I'm in the same non-sleeping boat, mainly because I have about a million trillion things on my mind, all of the time. I currently use a pregnancy affirmations CD to help relax me into a meditative state, enabling me to get some sleep. Maybe there's the same kind of thing for PP? If there isn't anything PP specific (a quick Google and Amazon search for "post partum meditation" just came up with PPD meditation guides...which could be good, too!), I'd recommend any kind of meditation CD. There's a great podcast available on iTunes for free called Meditation Oasis. I've used it for years to help myself get calm and relaxed.

I'm pretending not to notice that my two year old has snuck his pez from the candy stash and is stuffing his face under the table. If I don't "see" it, I don't have to get up and discipline. Great parenting over here.

Happy birthday @Tferr02! Someone get that girl a mimosa.
Leaving my ultrasound appt now.. We are scheduling an induction. Absolutely no progress, even after being woken up this morning with an hour and a half of 5-7 min apart contractions. Kid is fine, she estimated around 7lbs. Really thought something was happening today. Kinda wanna cry. Being cheered up by how amused DH is that I told him someone on TB mentioned Cervadil allegedly having pig semen in its ingredients. He's giggling like a 13 year old about it.
@deidremaria - we didn't have to do anything for DS, but we kept the house bright/somewhat loud during the day, and kept everything dark and quiet at night. We didn't do blackout shades in the nursery or anything. He often napped during the day in his bouncer on the coffee table in the living room while we did stuff around him, watched tv, whatever.
@macgrs - Get a small lamp, like a desk lamp, and put a lower wattage bulb in it. Some people swear by red bulbs because red isn't as bright/intrusive as white/yellow light or something (I forget the proper term).
Thanks girl. And to add to the red bulb tip last night we totally just threw a red sheer curtain from the curtain stash over our too bright bedroom lamp and it worked out fine. I definitely plan to stick to this until I am able to get something smaller.
Happy birthday @Tferr02 , hope your day improves! And good luck to @avidkeo, @knotty-girl and all the other ladies in labor!
I made an ob appt today because one of my stitches is absolutely killing me. I looked last night and I feel like they stitched things together that were not meant to be attached. Hoping to get some relief.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for lamps for night feedings? Our night lights are too dim for latching and our other lamps are disturbingly bright.
Right now I've got a small lamp angled back behind the headboard. Not perfect, but I guess it works. Doesn't wake DH up (heck, nothing does), but gives me enough light to get M latched.
@hlm184 Aiden does the same thing - he latches on the one side forever! Nighttime is the worst, I can't stay awake that long in the dark sitting in a comfy chair...
@deidremaria we're still in the process of switching the little man to night sleeping, but last night was the best night yet, and we've been trying to get him there for about 5 days now. I second everything that PP's have said about the light at day, dark at night. The only part I hate is trying to get Aiden latched in the dark - I invariably end up with at least one bad latch and stabbing nipple pain before we get it right!
I made myself an appt for a haircut and pedi today and then told DH that was my birthday present. I'm excited for some pampering today! Unfortunately, it will probably cause family drama but I don't care. SIL is a hairdresser, but she works for a walk in place at the mall. I wanted a nice spa like experience. If anyone gets their haircut someplace else, she throws a fit and criticizes the cut like crazy. Oh well, spa day won!
Today is DD's first pedi appointment and I feel like I'm going on a first date. I've been obsessing over her outfit all morning and I'm paranoid the dr is going to take her diaper off and it'll be dirty and she'll think I'm a bad parent. I am so strange some times I amaze myself....

Lol I was the same way. We changed their diaper in the lobby, which worked out well because we swaddled them with only their diaper on and it made the appt thatch easier.

The mall bunny is scary an I don't want a stranger in a costume holding my kid.
My kid can hardly hold his head up why waste time on hiding eggs?
A basket of candy is going to be eaten my me and DH. In trying to lose baby weight no thanks.
Well today she is relaxing with her Mom, she has an appt tomorrow I think.
Happy Birthday @Tferr02 ! Hope your day gets better.
Good luck @avidkeo and @knotty-girl!
