Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • The other problem is I over-think every name. Our current front runner is Truman. Then I started worrying this morning about naming him after someone who dropped the atomic bomb.....even though it did end WWII and probably saved many OTHER lives.

Being a total nerd is sometimes tough.

I think because we live in an idiocracy most people will think of the Truman Show before the former president. But either way, you are over thinking it.

In the end it's YOUR baby and YOUR choice. And now days you  can get customizable stuff over the internet, so I don't think novelty license plates and personalized pencils are a reason to go with a traditional name if that's not what you want for your child.

I thought of the Truman show...but in my defense I JUST watched it with SO and was hugely disappointed with it.

I found my name on one trinket once in my entire life. Karissa is not common at all. If I do see it somewhere it's always spelled Carrisa :|

Also, in our area Lucas was not popular when we picked it. I ran a preschool and there was one Lucas. This kid came out an bam Lucas is everywhere! I like the common popular names for boys. We were more unique for girls.

  • Ugh. Totally re-thinking our baby name. Doesn't help that I woke up to an EMAIL from my damn mother pleading with me to name my son something "normal" so he can buy cheap trinkets with his name on them when he's on school field trips (seriously?!?! That's your argument?!!?). Someone name my son, please! This is so stressful!

    What's your name?!
My name is Colleen and I only find those stupid trinkets about 75% of the time. My sisters name is Caitlin, even more normal, except apparently the "wrong" spelling. So even though she grew up with a ton of classmates named Caitlin, she never got the trinkets.
    The trinket argument is STUPID.
I agree. My name is Amie. I have never and will never find a stupid trinket with my name on it and I'm damn happy not to be an Amy!!

  • @3crazykitties everyone was shocked that I went out to dinner, and finished the night with a baseball game and fireworks the day after I was due. I felt great, then went into labor the next morning.

I went to a children's birthday party today and there was a woman who is 35 weeks pregnant. She asked when I am due and I told her tomorrow. Her jaw dropped and she was in disbelief that I was "out and walking around". She is currently expecting her third child. I told I rather be out doing something than at home waiting for labor.

I had this today too. I'll be at 41w tomorrow. Spent the day at the open air market, nursery and picking up trash at an event an organization I'm a board member of put on. I got told twice I must be having twins and was scolded multiple times for bending over to pick litter up. I'm "overdue." I don't need to be in am infirmary.

  • 5:45pm and it is the first time I have been able to do anything without LO attached to my boob or sleeping on me.
6:00pm and he starts fussing again.

    Oh Em Gee.

  • thanks, ladies. I definitely responded to my mom by telling her she was pissing me the hell off and that I should have NEVER discussed my name choices with her. I knew better....it's my own fault. If I ever do this again, I really will not discuss with her again ahead of time!

  • My MIL is so annoying (in an amusing way). Every time I call her she answers the phone, "ARE YOU IN LABOR!?" and after her being MIA my entire pregnancy, she has recently taken to calling me daily to see how I'm "feeling".

I know she's excited but it kind of makes me feel like I'm just a surrogate baby incubator.  Trying not to be resentful though.
  • I am way too much of a bitch for the other threads right now, even in a good mood. RTT and birth stories for me. Maybe I need another ice cream sandwich to keep the snark at bay.
  • Poor Oliver (my dog). SO is practicing swaddling on him - haha! (Oliver actually loves this)
  • My midwife gave up on me and went home. :(

  • Oh that sucks Pine. Not making much progress? :(

Nope. 3 sweeps today, each more painful than the last, and no progress. I think I'm still at about a 3-4. She said at this point my cervix is just irritated so she didn't want to do any more. I'm feeling pretty irritated myself. And insanely defeated.

  • Ugh. Pineconey that just stinks. I've been thinking about you all day and thought no news was good news. Maybe your LO wants to be an Easter baby.

  • Pineconey I know I was not overdue, but the I was feeling emotionally defeated throughout my whole pregnancy. The day I finally accepted my issues I felt better, and had baby the next day. I know it's not the same in your case and it's probably eating you alive. Is there anyway you can take your mind off your misery? It might relax your cervix enough to get things going.

I was hopeful and relaxed all day- especially when she was the one to bring up wanting to get it done today, which I wasn't initially expecting. I feel like she gave me false hope, which I don't blame her for, and I had a completely wasted day.

  • Insult to injury- a chick I know IRL had her 3rd baby today. She was due in May. (She's past 37w- no complications, healthy baby.)
It's so hard not to be jealous.

  • Hate this back pressure. Hate hate hate. I was feeling good today for the first time since she dropped, so of course I got overly confidant, had a really good go at nursery organization and had sex. I don't really regret any of the above - esp the sex! - but holy crap. It feels like someone's inflating a pain balloon in my pelvis and it's popping out my tailbone. Counter pressure, please!

I think this is one of those times it's ok to be jealous...

Usually full term+ babies are better eaters/latchers so that's another plus for you! :)

  • The fact that I'm so big now that if I stand or walk too much throughout the day my feet hurt by bedtime, might be the most depressing thing ever.

Dude. I hear you. At 40w6d I finally feel pregnant as fuuuuuuuck. After 30 minutes of walking I feel like I just ran a marathon. I'm dead and done and achy for the whole day. It makes me cry just thinking about ever getting back into marathon shape...
