  • Anyone have any thoughts on a separate nursery thread, not sticky or anything, more of a "Show me your nursery photos/ideas". Too soon? I saw a bunch of photos on this thread but I was thinking about one thread so I can get ideas and stuff.

    Thoughts, comments, concerns?

IDGAF if you make a new thread but I swear there was one with a lot of pictures (I thought I posted in it) within the past few weeks.

You know you're tempted to rock the crotch floss ;) Haha
  • I am having so much trouble finding the actual thread that you might as well just make another one.

I found this one but I don't think it was the one I was talking about since I didn't post on it:

It's a running joke in my family that i am so white i make Casper look like he's got color.

I'm a dayglo shade of pale according to my friend. Like luminescent and shit.

ETA: I am actually Irish though so not surprising. My sister is tan as shit though and totally got my moms skin tone. We look nothing alike, it's really weird.

Ugh. I just saw on my boss' calendar an inpromptu meeting invite from my VP that is labeled "Discussion". Do you know how paranoid this makes me? I'm like -- is it about me? is it because I'm on the internet/bump too much? I am not doing my job well? Am I in trouble?

Are you kidding me? "DISCUSSION PART II" is happening right now. WTF man :\

  • On a scale of "One to Crazy Lady" am I insane for considering attending an NBA playoff game at 28 weeks pregnant?

Depends on who you are rooting for. ;)

I think you're crazy, pregnant or not, to willingly deal with all that traffic. Blech! Even though we are able to park inside the MLGW building anytime we go downtown I still wouldn't deal with all the crazies.

It is going to be a total nightmare, but we will probably do this in place of a babymoon (hate that term) so I am thinking we will spring for parking in the Forum then go grab a bite and walk back. Then wait awhile to see if we can meet any of the players before we try to leave!

Good God no. The spurs are up there with freakin Blake Griffin and Flop City. Ugh.

(This is when I start talking shit and my husband looks at me like I've lost my mind and I say, "I'm from the 901, bitch" because you know I'm tough shit!)

Although I am very relieved that we don't have to play the Spurs in the first round after last night.

I suppose now would be a poor time to adopt a new dog, huh?
DH thinks that right after the baby is born is a good time to adopt a kitten since I'll be home on maternity leave and I can make sure the kitten gets acclimated to the house and to the dog. Because taking care of a newborn on limited sleep probably won't need all of my attention  8-|
My one cat died in Nov (same weekend I got my BFP!) and DH and I decided now is not the time to even discuss getting another cat. My other cat is up all night meowing and jumping on our bed wanting us to play with and pet him. He misses his buddy. The two of them used to run around and play with each other at night. I feel so bad for him and Dh is just really annoyed with being woken up, so now we're actually thinking about another cat. Not a kitten though, I'm not up for that. We'll see. I guess with a newborn baby my cat will have two people to hang out with him in the middle of the night.
I think an older cat (like 2 or 3) would be just the ticket for your little guy.  When one of my cats passed right before we were supposed to move into our new house, Taiko was just a mess.  He really relied on Jasper for confidence and was his rock.  I ended up adopting a year old female and she really helped him with the transition to the new space.

Cats are pretty low key.  I really wanted to adopt another female cat right before I got my BFP, but those plans were put on the backburner for baby #2.  It is something we will revisit in the coming months though.

  • Totally go to the game!! I'm not really a basketball fan but I went to a semi final game once (spurs v lakers in LA) and it was soo fun! I'd definitely splurge for the close parking. We did and that made it so much better... It didn't really feel like a hassle at all! The concern about going to a basketball game at 28 weeks makes me really concerned about going to Hawaii at 31-32 weeks :-o (Originally booked for 28 weeks but DH's deployment got extended) Am *I* totally crazy?!? 29.5 weeks and so far no pain (besides the first few steps after standing up) or issues yet!

I was at the OB yesterday and the medical assistant asked me if there was anything I wanted to bring up to the OB when he came in. I mentioned that I thought I had Symphysis pubis dysfunction, as my symptoms matched up with the Google description and yeah, I wanted to talk to him about it.

This  20 year old chick says, "Ummmm just so you know, you should never google."

    ..................................

Okay bitch, you get pregnant and see how that works out for ya :))
It drives me crazy when people tell me not to google!  I think googling is very bad if you're the type that will take the worst-case-scenario info and freak the hell out about it.  But if you are capable of reasonably processing information, I think it is super useful!  You just have to realize that with pretty much any symptom, there is going to be a website that says there is a tiny chance it is something awful (usually some kind of cancer or incurable auto-immune disease). ;-)

There have been so many times I've had a weird pregnancy related symptom and I google it and it turns out it is totally normal and nothing to worry about (except for that one time I totally posted here because I thought I might be going into preterm labor. ;-)  I just didn't google long enough because the first website said "stop what you are doing and go to your doctor!").  It totally saves me from needing to stress and worry about a particular symptom or calling my OB about every little thing.  (Honestly I'm just too lazy to call, googling is easier!)

ETA:  I just edited this to put periods before my emoticons.  You are welcome @Jessa8907! ;-)

DH references this every time I'm trying to pick out a new pudding flavor at the store. He says I need to just find the massive can like this kid. Everyone's a comedian. ;)

  • LOSS MENTIONED

I had a dream last night that I delivered my current size baby (28 weeks) and my prior fetus (lost at 9 weeks) at the same time. Then I ended up shoving them back up my who-ha to "cook" for a while longer because it was still too small.

    weird ass preggo dreams.

I'm so sorry for your loss but I can totally see myself having this same dream. The things we hold on to!

Regarding the googling or not googling, first, @LiteraChick‌, next time you're there please tell little miss 20 year-old-know-it-all that I said to F off and leave my girl alone. Second, not to be all Debbie downer but when we found out our baby had choroid plexus cysts, my MW told me not to google.
I'm so glad I did because I knew what questions to ask and what to expect on the next level ultrasound, and I knew to ask for the Mat21 test when they were only suggesting amnio (which I later did anyway but not until I was ready). So, yes, I agree with @TallMomma29‌ , google can be a helpful resource if you're willing to entertain an idea without accepting it as factual.

You know you're fron a small town when 95% of your FB newsfeed is the exact same news link: https://m.wsoctv.com/news/news/local/truck-crashes-rite-aid-monroe/nfbz3/

Eta- nothing entertaining, chicken truck crashed into RiteAid, no injuries.

    That's my local news/tv market.

  • I always call my mom on my way home from work and that's when we chat. It's about a half hour drive. Last night she spent the ENTIRE RIDE telling me how everyone told her the fact that we aren't telling her our baby name choices is just mean, and that I'm a bitch. We're not telling anyone. I wish I could just stop talking to her entirely until the baby is out. Bah.
