I always call my mom on my way home from work and that's when we chat. It's about a half hour drive. Last night she spent the ENTIRE RIDE telling me how everyone told her the fact that we aren't telling her our baby name choices is just mean, and that I'm a bitch. We're not telling anyone. I wish I could just stop talking to her entirely until the baby is out. Bah.

Don't cave! Too many excited grandmas have spilled the beans, and even if she didn't, it's your choice when you share. Your mom's friends are being bitches for fueling her fire over it. It's not their business.
I second this! I don't know why people feel entitled to know the name beforehand?! Besides, you may not be 100% sure or you may get to the birth and decide to change the name!

I told my mom, although it wasn't public info. I was 99% sure of the name but thought there was a chance it could change at the hospital. She put it on the baby shower cake (out of excitement, not being crazy or stepping on my toes or anything). She unintentionally outed me and I wish I had just kept it a secret!

  • 3 hr glucose tests suck. I wish I would have known I was going to be stuck 4 times. If I'm going to be poked with a needle, I better be getting a tattoo out of the deal.

I'm considering no showing to mine.

  • @ghostof5letters‌ did you have to make an appointment for yours? I just showed up and took mine. I hope I never have to do it again.

Yes, but I'm showing up early.
My OBGYN used to do them in-office but now I have to go to stupid Quest.

@ghostof5letters‌ lame. You're already being punished by taking an extra glucose test. The jumping through hoops is totally unnecessary.
  • Have any of you turned regular scarves into infinity scarves using bobbypins?  I never tried it because I assumed it would look weird with bobby pins poking out of the back... But I finally tried it and you can't tell at all.  Brilliant! All of my "boring, regular" scarves have been given new life :-)

  • I just never know which slice I'd eat, you know? @ghostof5letters that butthole cake you posted a while ago, I feel for the poor sucker who got stuck with the arsehole piece.

Speaking of baby "food" why do I sense @aliletz would still devour this:

This definitely made me throw up in my mouth a little.  And I really like bacon so that's saying a lot.

  • @Literachick

Yup, I would eat that.  Because I have a bacon problem.

Just had this conversation with DH:

H: we're on for Easter dinner. They do a short hike after, so are you sure you want to wear a dress?

Me: I'll do it in a dress or not at all. The only pants I'm wearing for the next three months are yoga pants.
What do you mean "I'll do it"? Lol I can't imagine hiking right now. And in a dress! Kudos to you!

I'm having a case of guilty babysitter syndrome..

Right before my friend left for her doctor's appointment she told me all about how sure she was her DD was going to crawl any day now and that she couldn't wait to see it since she missed her DS's first time.

Well sure enough, I put her DD down on the floor to play while I stopped her DS from getting into something and she's cruising from one side of the living room to the other.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news that she missed it again, but I wouldn't feel right not telling her just so she could think she saw the "first" time later.

I would keep quiet. :) Just let it go, it means nothing to you, but everything to her.
Ditto! I wouldn't say anything. It would crush me to hear that from you if I were her. I can't tell you how many times MIL did firsts with my son just so she could brag to me. It really hurt. :(

Lol..I have a feeling the "not at all" may end up being the case...unless it's more of a walk than a hike. :)

  • I just ate expired tums before I noticed they were expired, and found this helpful answer on the good ole internets. This is good news! I could use a good sh!t ;-)image

  • My friend just informed FB she is "4 cm dilated and omg, so excited to meet my love bundle!"
Its going to be really hard to deal with labor AND try to keep my husband from doing something dumb like this. I have much more of a filter when it comes to FB than he does.

We have discussed that ZERO pictures get posted without my approval (my sister in law sent out a mass text of her daughter's new baby with a big bare boob shot included. Ummm no), so I will have to add this to the list too.
  • I hit a groundhog on my way to the farm. I definitely had to pull over and cry a little. I tried to avoid him...but he was just determined to get in front of me :-(.

So sad, it's not your fault. I once hit a squirrel and saw him fly up in the air behind my car. It was horrible.
  • Ha! Well now when I tell the story I always laugh at the site of that poor thing in flight.
  • I don't know why I waited so long to install the kindle app on my iPhone. Now I can read in the bathtub without the fear of ruining my kindle (phone has a waterproof case). Now to get off FB and TB and read my book...
