Hey guys, as a Kiwi, I am wondering on your take on this report?

Its causing a bit of controversy over here cause its kinda offensive, Powhiri (welcome) ceremonies are taken very seriously and is actually very cool to take part in, but I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she's just being tongue in cheek (insert obvious joke here). But as someone who is supposed to be a news correspondent, I am surprised she is mocking another culture.

ETA: ok I just googled the reporter, and realise she has made her name as a "soft news" journalist and is really only after ratings. Meh.

Me: "Yep, I sure am".

Checker: "Do you know if it's a girl or a boy?"

Me (dumbfounded): "Yeah...It's a boy"

Checker: "Have you picked a name?"

I get the impression that she was being tongue in cheek to try and make the news story more relatable to the audience, but it still kinda rubs me the wrong way. It just seems a bit insensitive for an "outsider" to be cracking jokes like that to other "outsiders." I don't think she was truly attempting to mock the culture, but it wasn't presented in an appropriate way, especially when both parties (the reporter and the audience) most likely lacked any real familiarity with the culture beforehand. Familiarity is the reason my close friends can freely poke fun at me but I would be offended if a stranger tried to do the same.

Oh my. I hate when things like that happen. Secondhand embarrassment is so much worse than being personally embarrassed IMO. Let me be awkward all day every day, but PLEASE GOD let no one else be awkward in my presence. X_X

Aww cool! As I said, the whole ceremony is actually really cool - not maori myself but I live in an area where the population is 75% Maori, and have grown up with the culture and know the meanings behind the ceremony. And I am sure that William and Kate will have been briefed on the ceremony so they know the meanings as well.

I think the controversy is more we don't like being made to look like idiots in the states. We have a very small voice so when its heard we only want the best said about us! hehe

I looove it! Pregsomnia and eating with reckless abandon just go hand in hand so beautifully. I've been lacking an appetite for the past few days thanks to being sick so I didn't have much more today than a 6-inch sub with chips and a bottled juice from Subway, but as soon as pregsomnia hit it was like "15 minutes and 1000+ calories later..." Perfection.

Thought about eating all the pasta and cleaning everything up to hide the evidence from DH... Only had the energy to eat the pasta.

Let me paint you ladies a picture.

I was sitting on the couch, eating dark chocolate M&M's, drinking milk, and watching Big Bang Theory. The show ends, and I go into the bathroom to shower. I get undressed, kick off my underwear and immediately started coughing. This wouldn't have been an issue if I didn't have a full bladder. As it is, by the second cough I'm spraying urine on the floor. I quickly dangle my ass over the toilet, as DH has left the toilet seat up. I'm still coughing and with every cough, I spray. Then, my stomach gives up the battle with keeping my dessert down. I cough up my M&M's and milk, some into my hand, the rest onto the floor.

That's right ladies, I'm an adult, soon to be mom to two, and I just peed and threw up on the floor in about 10 seconds flat!

Grabbed a greasy bar food dinner and home opener for the local minor league baseball team last night. On the way home, I had my first epic pregnancy nosebleed and then woke up at 4 this AM with contractions and major digestive issue. So I bailed on work and am going to to try to enjoy my self-imposed first day of spring break and by enjoy I mean hopefully go into labor.
