Wasn't one of the GC girls. We are also curious about this...
Yeah, the snail broke one of the GC cardinal rules and personally insulted somebody. I don't think she's been seen since, but looking her up on TB shows that she was last active March 31. Hm.

Today at my check up my midwife told me that when she was practicing in Scotland one of her patients put a clove of garlic in her vag. She then said, and I quote, "What the fuck was that shit all about?".
Edit, autocorrect
I've read about people doing that shit for GBS+ stuff, to get rid of it. Nothanks!
Speaking of GBS... Hey experienced ladies, how long does it take to get a + or - result back? Is it a same-day result sort of thing or am I going to have to wait?

I got my results (positive) at the next appointment.
Ants, Uhg. We get fire ants in the yard and I'm totally allergic to them. I got just one bite on my little toe last summer and my whole foot and lower leg swelled up. Thankfully, they have not got inside. DH puts ant poison on every mound we find but they come back each year. I can't wait to move just to get away from the damn ants.
A-freaking-men! I just got my first bites of the season yesterday. Fortunately I'm not super allergic, but still. No bueno.
@avidkeo If that doesn't work, you can try putting cornmeal near the ant hill and/or where they're coming in. It's slower than poisons, but safer - they apparently can't digest it.

I just bought the prefilled traps trying to get ahead of the ants this year I just hate them hope they don't come back but I'm sure that's wishful thinking. Glad they are good!!

I think it depends on where your doctor sends them. I was told it takes about a week. Had my swab at my 36 week appointment, and I'll be getting the results at my 37 week appointment on Friday.

That sounds like a rather pleasant mess to clean up.
It's not really much of an explosion. But from what I understand, their bodies can't process it so they build up gasses and their exoskeleton bursts.

I hate ants so much the idea of them exploding gives me a shiver of delight....
No idea where the ant hill is, I am pretty sure its directly under the house because they seem to come up through the floorboards. If I was not 9m pregnant I would be all over that shit with the ant spray we got but can't fit atm, and DH refuses to do it! My idea is to spray the bottom of the floorboards and the foundations with the spray - its a poison they take back to the nest as well - but DH is afraid it might kill our cat if she gets too much of it in her system. Fair enough but she never goes under the house!!!!

Unfortunately there is no LO yet :-<
So, I spent all afternoon at L&D and It sucked.
I had a Dr. appointment today. When they checked my blood
pressure it was high, so they made me go to L&D. I went home, got my bags
and headed over there, totally worried and excited at the same time. When I got
there I was monitored for about 3 hours and had blood drawn to check for
preeclampsia. When the results came in they were normal. Now the Dr. is making
me collect urine for 24 hours (so annoying).
Went home and now I am traumatized. While I was in the
waiting room at L&D all I could hear was women screaming… I am talking
about 3 women at the same time!
SO turned pale when he heard the screams and I
swear he was sweating a little.Who
knows if he will be able to handle it when it’s our turn.
In the end, I was so mad and relieved at the same time. Mad
because I had not eaten a thing all day and because I didn’t get to meet LO.
Relieved because I don’t have pre-e and because I didn’t have to stay there
with all the screaming women.
I'm sorry for your experience today. I hope you and your SO realize that yes, some women have those kinds of labors. They are yelling and in agony and are pretty much begging for drugs right away. BUT that doesn't have to be yours! Whether you are planning for pain meds or not you should work on pain relief techniques for before you get the meds.
I didn't have the birth you heard those ladies have, and I know there are many other women here who didn't either. It's not because our pain tolerance is super high, it's because we went in with the right attitude. If you're afraid it's going to be the worst most painful thing you've ever experienced, it probably will be. Mind over body! You can do it!!

@nikki912, Thanks for the advice, I do understand that this is gonna be painful, I knew since the first day me and SO tried to conceive that it would be, I'm okay with that. But hearing other women in labor really got to me. I just have to go in with a clear head and know that the end goal is my LO.
I had an appointment today and after talking with my doctor we decided to induce on Thursday morning if LO hasn't come before then! I am excited and nervous but I can't wait to meet this little guy!
@isamaraguirre Also, if it helps, I've read several places where women said it feels good to yell or moan or scream through a contraction to give them power over it and one of the books I read encourages it (open mouth, open cervix) and the women who talked about their labor said they weren't suffering but loud vocalizations felt good.
Of course, I have no idea what these women were going through and maybe like others said, they weren't prepared. Just clear it from your mind and know that loud doesn't have to = suffering.
@isamaraguirre - I'm sorry you had such a traumatic day! I'm glad your tests came back good, and FX you stay healthy. And I hope you can put the screaming out of your mind - how awful. Labor isn't fun, but it doesn't have to be screaming and trauma. I honestly think the fear of pain was worse than the actual pain for me (I did get meds, so there's that, but I still had feeling on one side). I'm determined not to let anything get in my head like that this time. Good luck!
Thanks! I agree, fear is a bitch. But like you said we need to go in determined not to let it mess with our heads.

I didnt realise I was doing this until after the fact, but I was so vocal I had a sore throat for the first two days post partum. It wasnt so much because of the pain, it just helped me focus on the pushing... the more I could vocalize the harder I could push.
Good to know. I'm sure that the women I heard were just trying to get through it as best they could. Labor is different for everyone. Who knows what it will be like for me. If I have to scream, so be it! All I want is LO. Thanks.
DH and I took the dog for a walk, and I definitely gave myself a few contractions; I may have to keep this up!
Chocolate banana bread is cooling on the counter now and I have ice packs on my rib cage... Could be worse I suppose, I could have no bread!
DH, the pup and I just came back from a walk also. I'm jealous of your contractions because all I got was pressure down low. I was really hoping to get something out of walking around in the cold for 45 min!!! At least the dog enjoyed himself. Haha
I don't have it in me to read 596 posts that I missed - hope everyone is well!
