@mamafantastic. Were you the one looking for the softer medela pump nipple things? (so eloquent I know) were you able to find something softer to use for your pump and if so what? I'm going to be ordering my pump soon and I'm iffy on having such hard suction cup deals and was wondering if you had found a solution. Also I realize I should learn what the hell the various parts are called for a pump
good memory!  i did end up finding a new pair, but it was from a friend who had bought extras for her pump and never ended up using them.  she's going to give them to me in exchange for a cape :)  (and they are called flanges...!)

  • So, pretty sure a lot of first tri ugliness is coming back to haunt me. Exhausted, feeling queasy, headaches, etc... I'm actually pretty proud of myself that I'm taking it as well as I am at this point. Where as it was RUINING MY LIFE in the first trimester and the idea of it coming back in the third just sounded like torture, I'm actually feeling a little BTDT about feeling so crappy. Maybe it's because it's familiar now and every little discomfort doesn't freak me out that something is wrong, or surprise me, etc. Maybe it's because little man is extra active today and I'm totally cool with that. Whatever, I dig this zen miserable thing I have going on if I must be miserable.

All this talk about flowers is making me extremely excited to finally be able to plant my own garden this spring! I know I'll probably be huge pregnant or with a NB but I really want to try to plant some vegetables and a pretty flower bed. My mom has a beautiful garden so I'm eager to make mine look like hers.
Reading this is inspiring me!  I usually do a huge garden every year but I just assumed I would skip out on doing it this year, what with the baby.  But I might just do a very mini scaled back garden.

I can't WAIT for this! We bought our house last Dec, and our house had a lot of deferred maintenance to take care of so I was really focused last year on getting our lawn looking ok, and I made a raised bed veggie garden, which I love. This fall I planted a bunch of bulbs (because we have nothing bloom early spring) so I can't wait to see if those come up and get out there and do more landscaping. I love working in the yard!!! Baby girl is going to get a lot of outside time :)

  • @ColleenSwerb nope a boy! I didn't know that. I feel like that's big part of my pregnancy but I guess it's not for them. Just completely caught me off guard!

I swear my husband is the loudest nose blower in the world. He blows his nose EVERY morning 5 times. Why?!??! And it echos through the house, wakes me up every time and wakes our son up about 50% of the time. I wake up with evil thoughts towards him most mornings.
Ok, now we have the same husband.  His is the loudest honk and he does it every single morning.  I rarely need to blow my nose except when I have a cold so I just don't understand what causes the daily need to blow your nose.  And he constantly uses toilet paper even though there are tissue boxes everywhere.  I went through way less toilet paper living with my roommate than living with my husband.

  • FX for you @Medic99 !  Hoping for a great scan.

Good luck with unpacking @Bluebird2318  I like organizing too but it sounds exhausting right now.

Packed weekend ahead here but so looking forward to it.  Baby class tomorrow then we are staying at a nice hotel downtown while our hardwood floors are being refinished.  That means hibachi grill for dinner!  Superbowl party with friends on Sunday.  I don't care about the game at all but it's always fun to hang out with friends and eat good food.

  • I have a meeting at 1:00 with a project manager that I work with, and I really don't want to go.  For whatever reason, I just don't like this woman, and she generally annoys me beyond belief! One more hour of work after that, that's the only thing getting me through this meeting...

Same here! (We bought our house last summer.) I think I'll end up with the PNP out in the yard with us. I'm going to have to put together a list of gardening tools and make a run to Home Depot, since all we have is a rake, haha.
Same with me! Lol! Plus, I think it will be a fun activity to do with DD outside instead of being inside all the time.

  • A friend of mine (who I just bought a moby for because she said she wanted a baby carrier) said she didn't want to carry her baby because she wanted to encourage her walking and encourage her to be more independent.

Uh.. ok. Pretty sure I know a lot of kids that were carried and they walk just fine and are plenty independent. She makes me so stabby sometimes.

This is my MO most days at work lately.  I am pretty much just phoning it in at this point.

Yeah, who wants a lazy dependent 2 month old who won't just walk for themselves? We need to teach these babies to shape up and take care of themselves!
Seriously! I almost got offended by it because I DO plan to wear this baby, especially since I have a three year old to chase around. I'll be glad when our kids get older and my son is walking just fine so she can eat her words.

Oh and she said, "plus when she gets big enough to sit up on her own I'm sure Matt (her bf) will want to carry her on his shoulders anyways".

    Mkay.
Yes, because that is the most practical way to carry a child, at all times. Poor woman.
Yeah. It's hard for me to bite my tongue because I know she has been a mom for four whole weeks so I'm sure she knows everything already and doesn't need the advice of a mom of a three year old. I just say "oh okay!" and let her learn on her own :)

I'm not saying everything I do is perfect but sometimes the things she says make me laugh/cringe.

I know this has been discussed a shit ton but I am asking again. I finally got around to calling insurance about breast pumps. They require a prescription and getting the pump after delivery. Is it dumb that it makes me nervous to wait until after?
After I had DS, I ended up using my (borrowed) pump within 5 days because he wouldn't latch.  My insurance was requiring us to wait until after birth, and didn't provide the pump that I wanted and had been researching, so I ended up buying my own.

That said, if you really need to pump before you get yours, you could pick up a manual pump.  I have one and I ended up using it a lot.

I think DD is hitting a growth spurt because all I've heard today is "I'm hungry!!"

Kid has practically emptied our fridge.
I hear "I'm hungry" all the time from my kids! I swear they clean the shelves like teens as soon as we get home from the store. Lately, I haven't been able to keep enough food for the 3 of us because I've been so hungry too.
