UO Thursday

You are getting sleepy...very, very sleepy. Because today is Thursday and you are full of unpopular opinions, let them be heard. ::hypno over::

Re: UO Thursday

  • Being judged for everything I do, say or buy for LO. I'm spending too much, I don't need the best of everything, etc. We were given the crib, bedding, dresser, high chair, travel system toys and a few other little things. Just annoying.

Aw man I can never think of anything good when they day actuicomes. How's abooooot...I don't give a shit if someone wants to spend $1,000 on a crib, and I don't think that makes them 'stupid'. (Unless they couldn't afford it/went into debt for it.) Would *I* spend that much on a crib? Hells no. But I'm sure there are things I choose to spend my money on that others may believe is frivolous.
It wasn't that she wanted a 1k crib. It was that she was pissed her mil wouldn't buy said crib for her that invited snark.
Woah, wait, where did this happen???

  • But you guys can get beautiful cribs for less than half of that in America?! ::jealous::
I got a perfectly great crib at Ikea for $150! Can you get ikea stuff?
Yea, we're totally going for IKEA. Its the only thing worth considering here price wise. They were out of the one I wanted last time I went though. :-D I'm just slightly jealous of the selection available. hehehe.

My crib was $160 and I'm obsessed with it!
I realize this post about has nothing to do with me but I just want to be an AW because it just came.

Jenny Lind cribs are my very favorite (we're buying a second JL because I can't even think about transitioning DD at this point)! And you can't beat the price.

Don't get me wrong, that is not how I'd spend my money, but I also would want a say in a piece of furniture being bought for my house.
She did have a say. Just she was limited to cribs thy could be purchased at BRU. Her MIL didn't pick the color or style she just picked the store.
hahaha...BRU is hardly limiting. If she thought BRU was limited, I dare her to come here :-) Where on earth is the post, I must see it!

    2) Destination Maternity makes me want to throw up. $200 for a pair of jeans that you're only going to get about 5 months use out of? Maybe 15 if you have 3 kids and use them with each pregnancy? No ma'am.

Yeah, I purchased all of my maternity clothing for less than 100$, but I'm cheap. Almost all of it was used.

FF(Thursday)C:  I'm planning on wearing maternity jeans for the rest of my life.  Why go back? They are so comfy.  I do want to note that mine are only $35 from H&M however, and I also hate Destination Maternity for their ridiculous prices.

    -----------------------------------------

I guess if that's your thing, cool. I don't want to say this with absolute certainty, but I don't think I'd want to wear them too much longer after I have my baby girl. I enjoy them now that they accommodate by growing belly, but once my belly is no longer huge, I would hate something covering me like that (I have a full-panel pair). Maybe if they weren't full panel it wouldn't be so bad afterwards. To each her own!

yes, that is true. I don't think it would have been bad if she was set on the $1k crib to explain that (diplomatically and kindly) to her MIL that she was set on X crib. Her MIL could have then contributed or bought something else.

I just don't think it automatically makes her an ungrateful crib b/c she didn't want a crib from from BRU. I hate BRU and buy literally nothing there.
Hating on BRU is all fine, but, you can't say that the choice is limited. Maybe its not the choices you want, but, there are loads of choices there.

It's even better the second pregnancy when you realize that you got so big at the end that you stretched all your jeans and pants so much so that I still can't wear them without them falling off at 25 wks.   Then, you're stuck spending all the same amount of money on overpriced crap (we don't have Old Nay or Gap or Target Maternity lines in Canada).

  • DAMN!! @Dani+California we're only allowed to bring in 100$ worth of stuff duty free :-( (And a Graco PNP costs 300$ here, LOL)

  • I love maxi dresses. Pregnant or not. But I only like tank maxi dresses. They look so good on me because I'm tall.

dani+california and the kicker is that the damn thing is made in Montreal, but not sold in Canada.  So for $150, I got a Canadian made crib that was imported to the States and I imported back home.  So crazy, but sure beats the so called "low" prices we have here.
