Being judged for everything I do, say or buy for LO. I'm spending too much, I don't need the best of everything, etc. We were given the crib, bedding, dresser, high chair, travel system toys and a few other little things. Just annoying.
I don't have a problem with people having a shower for a second kid. I'm not having one, but I have attended them for several friends. I don't spend much on a gift for a second shower, just diapers, wipes or an outfit if it's a different gender. I think every baby and pregnancy can be celebrated, even if it brakes with etiquette, and while I wouldn't do it myself I enjoy attending them.
I realize its nice to have a party thrown in your honor, but I don't get the fascination with having to have a shower. Have I been living out of the U.S. too long? :-D
Aw man I can never think of anything good when they day actuicomes.
How's abooooot...I don't give a shit if someone wants to spend $1,000 on a crib, and I don't think that makes them 'stupid'. (Unless they couldn't afford it/went into debt for it.) Would *I* spend that much on a crib? Hells no. But I'm sure there are things I choose to spend my money on that others may believe is frivolous.
It wasn't that she wanted a 1k crib. It was that she was pissed her mil wouldn't buy said crib for her that invited snark.

Yes this! It was the entitlement not the price. I don't judge what people spend I am a car seat freak and spend more on seats than most, however I don't expect anyone to buy the high priced seats for us.

Definitely her entitlement that was the worst and the entire way she handled the situation...although the fact that the desired crib in question was $1k was kind of the huge cherry on a shit sundae.
But you guys can get beautiful cribs for less than half of that in America?! ::jealous::
I got a perfectly great crib at Ikea for $150! Can you get ikea stuff?
Yea, we're totally going for IKEA. Its the only thing worth considering here price wise. They were out of the one I wanted last time I went though. :-D I'm just slightly jealous of the selection available. hehehe.
My crib was $160 and I'm obsessed with it! I realize this post about has nothing to do with me but I just want to be an AW because it just came.
Jenny Lind cribs are my very favorite (we're buying a second JL because I can't even think about transitioning DD at this point)! And you can't beat the price.
I don't think baby bumps are cute. I don't think they're bad or anything, i just don't see one and become enamoured. I only like HDBD to compare my own progress.
ETA- to clarify- I compare my own past photos with present, not other bumps.

I hope no one takes offense to mine as they are very pointed and stem from annoyances in my own personal life.
1) Being a volunteer fireman in a small town is nothing to brag about.
2) Destination Maternity makes me want to throw up. $200 for a pair of jeans that you're only going to get about 5 months use out of? Maybe 15 if you have 3 kids and use them with each pregnancy? No ma'am.

I cannot stand southern accents, it is completely unreasonable to dislike them I know but when I hear one I want to kick a puppy.
So sad. I love my accent. I use it all the time to say what I want without sounding like a bitch (or to get my way, hehe). No one can resist the southern charm, especially in Seattle.
With that being said, there are some accents and regional expressions that make me want to claw my eyes out, so I get it.

FF(Thursday)C: I'm planning on wearing maternity jeans for the rest of my life. Why go back? They are so comfy. I do want to note that mine are only $35 from H&M however, and I also hate Destination Maternity for their ridiculous prices.

Yeah, I purchased all of my maternity clothing for less than 100$, but I'm cheap. Almost all of it was used.

I don't get the hype about about what's proper or not for a baby shower! It is supposed to be your close friends and family so why would people be so judgy? My best friend knows my pooping habits she's not going to give me the side eye. We do diaper raffles around here as well as a second shower for a different gender. We don't worry what any one else thinks about what we do at the baby showers because everyone that is invited knows us very well.
It's all over the place I know, hopefully you can sift through it to get the point I was getting at!

I guess if that's your thing, cool. I don't want to say this with absolute certainty, but I don't think I'd want to wear them too much longer after I have my baby girl. I enjoy them now that they accommodate by growing belly, but once my belly is no longer huge, I would hate something covering me like that (I have a full-panel pair). Maybe if they weren't full panel it wouldn't be so bad afterwards. To each her own!

Don't get me wrong, that is not how I'd spend my money, but I also would want a say in a piece of furniture being bought for my house.
She did have a say. Just she was limited to cribs thy could be purchased at BRU. Her MIL didn't pick the color or style she just picked the store.
yes, that is true. I don't think it would have been bad if she was set on the $1k crib to explain that (diplomatically and kindly) to her MIL that she was set on X crib. Her MIL could have then contributed or bought something else.
I just don't think it automatically makes her an ungrateful crib b/c she didn't want a crib from from BRU. I hate BRU and buy literally nothing there.
Hating on BRU is all fine, but, you can't say that the choice is limited. Maybe its not the choices you want, but, there are loads of choices there.
ok, off of the baby crib/shower thing, I think mustard is the ultimate condiment (the spicier, the more horseradish, the better!). And the best condiment for french fries is mayonaise.

Mayonnaise should never be eaten unless it's mixed into something else. It's disgusting.
I am ridiculously happy that I bought tickets to Alton Brown's Edible Inevitable tour yesterday. I know it's incredibly dorky, and I know that he annoys the hell out of some people, but I can't help myself.
On Southern accents: I don't think they make you sound less bitchy. I think they make people sound less smart. Also, I dislike TX, MS, LA, and AL in general.
I think you mean the vocabulary some southern people choose to use makes them sound less smart, and I agree. Using double negatives all the time, bad grammar and made-up words. But it is possible to have a southern accent and be an intelligent person and speak like you are. What is it about these states that you don't like so much?

I'm from NY and I love southern accents. And a lot of times I find myself thinking in a southern accent. I don't know why or how, but it's a nice change of pace haha.
I do not like the Sherlock Holmes series. I only watched one full episode but I can't stand it.

It's even better the second pregnancy when you realize that you got so big at the end that you stretched all your jeans and pants so much so that I still can't wear them without them falling off at 25 wks. Then, you're stuck spending all the same amount of money on overpriced crap (we don't have Old Nay or Gap or Target Maternity lines in Canada).

I'm sure you still have loads to choose from @dani+california :-)
I drove to the US and bought a cheap one there...mouahaha
dani+california and the kicker is that the damn thing is made in Montreal, but not sold in Canada. So for $150, I got a Canadian made crib that was imported to the States and I imported back home. So crazy, but sure beats the so called "low" prices we have here.

I think it stupid when people do over the top or themed nurseries that don't go with the rest of their house. I don't get why an infant needs crap painted all over their walls in obnoxious colors.
