I thought about a backpack, but I never wear makeup and my face looks like a giant child's so part of me thinks I'll get confused for a student haha . Maybe I just need a big enough stroller for said diaper bag. I WANT to be trendy, it's more the carrying around.
On a related note, this is why I believe leggings should have pockets. That way I wouldn't have to shove my wallet and phone into my bra when I go out.
I'm from NY and I love southern accents. And a lot of times I find myself thinking in a southern accent. I don't know why or how, but it's a nice change of pace haha.
I do not like the Sherlock Holmes series. I only watched one full episode but I can't stand it.
You mean Elementary (USA version) or Sherlock (BBC). I seriously feel like Sherlock is the best show ever, but Elementary is terrible.
My DH loves Elementary but I just suffer through it. I'd like to see what Sherlock is about.
Figured it out. BBC is the one I can't stand. I've never even seen elementary. I remember seeing commercials but that's about it
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...
Minnesotan accents are worse than southern accents.
No way!!! My dad's family is in South Dakota and they have an interesting mix of accents. Prominent one being Minnesotan. I love it, and I love doing impressions with it. Plus, somehow, my mom, who only visited South Dakota with my dad, has a slight Minnesotan accent at times...yet she's never lived out of Western NY. Weirdo.
I can't think of an accent I don't like, I love accents, I think they're so fun and cool! And I love when people pinpoint the specific area I'm from just by the way I talk, I think it's so cool

Honestly, it never bothered me until I moved to AK and listened to Sarah Palin. Now when I hear someone from MN, all I hear is her. I seriously left the Iditarod start once because her voice was that annoying.
I don't have a facebook cause I think its stupid.
I also don't understand twitter, update on what your doing every hour or hashtag your run on sentence??
#stupid
I'm with you on the whole twitter thing. I don't understand the purpose of it and don't see how it's incredibly different from FB status updates.
I actually thoroughly enjoy twitter for getting the news. Yes, you have to be very careful about trusting it, but if you follow loads of semi-trustworthy news outlets (I don't trust them 100%), you can see what's going on in the world in about 5 seconds.

OMG Sarah Palin! I hate her as a politcian, but she is soooo amusing! I always leave voicemails on my friends phones in her voice hahaha. But yes, I understand your annoyance with her.

I told DH that I think Maine is a make-believe state. I've never actually met a person from Maine before. Any Maine(ians)? out there? And WTF is a person from Maine called? Mainer?
ETA: I have nothing against people who might actually hail from Maine. I do think you probably have superpowers of some sort though.
I always forget mine but here's one; I think women calling the man they're having sex with "Daddy" is creepy and gross.
I agree, but just wanted to say for some reason, you made me laugh really hard in the waiting area at my OB clinic. I might throw up my orange drink now.
I'm sure you still have loads to choose from @dani+california :-)
I drove to the US and bought a cheap one there...mouahaha
If they catch you at the border do you have to pay customs on it?? (Just curious...)
--------------
Nope! We stayed for the weekend so we got to bring back up to $1600 worth of goods duty-free. We also bought our stroller, car seat and all my maternity clothes in the US because they're almost half the price of what they charge here! Insane.
(BOB stroller was $275 in US and it's $550 here for example.) Stupid Canada!
It's up to you if you use it because it usually is exactly the same seat, but if you're in an accident or need to claim insurance for damage and all that your claim could be revoked because of the seat. This is one of the things that made me livid about the ridiculous cost of things in Canada when shopping for this stuff.
----------
Yeah I know. I figure it's from the US, not Guatemala...I'm sure we'll be fine.
Edit - just read that. It says it's illegal to import car seats that do not meet Canadian transportation standards...so I'll have to see if the seat in fact does meet the standards since it is the same one being sold here. Loophole! Bazinga!
It has to have the sticker saying it's approved by Transport Canada. If it does, you're good. If not, you can get shitloads of fines if either regular police or border police find it. Our safety standards are slightly different. I'm surprised they let you bring it back! They usually confiscate them at the border.
Sherlock is AWESOME. I love Benedict Cumberbatch to death. He has an awesome name too. I wish my last name was as awesome as Cumberbatch.
I don't have anything good. I don't really like cereal. It shouldn't even count as breakfast. It's like an appetizer of the breakfast world.
Oh, and since I'm boring. WELFARE.
I think you just summed up my thoughts perfectly. Appetizer of the breakfast world.. I'm so using this. It never fills me up or fuels me for my day! Delicious snack? Sure. Actual meal? Not even close.
@fireflygirl12 My family and I are from Maine, although we haven't lived there in years. But my parents were born and raised there and I was born there
As for what they are called....I don't even know lol.

@mamrotu73 Where did you live in Texas? And I agree that the humidity sucks, but it's not as bad when you get away from the coast (which is where I live).

I have a southern accent and I hate southern accents. But like someone said, I think it's more the words and phrases used than the accent itself. I have a really hard time taking people seriously with some of the words they use - people with masters degrees who say "ain't" or "done did" and the like.

I was raised in the south (GA), until 12, and all my family has accents. I lost mine ages ago. Phrases like "Bless her heart," give me the insanes.
celticlullaby, Yes! Totally with you on this. My name is commonly spelled two ways, with either an 'ie' or 'y' ending. I've been spelling it for people my whole life and I've survived. Add to that the fact that I have a mega Polish last name that I refused to change when I got married because it's mine, and I really couldn't care less about my daughter having to spell out her name for someone.
I hate it when some moms try to micromanage the way their husbands parent. I see pictures on my FB feed of kids wearing not quite perfectly coordinated outfits with captions like "LOL! Obviously DH dressed her today! Someone needs to tell him three shades of pink don't go together!" and hear moms complaining that their husbands don't feed the kids the same food they would, or they put the lotion on wrong before bed, or they didn't choose the right book to read, or they went to the wrong playground, or whatever. Then after a while they start complaining that their husbands don't help out enough. No shit! If they can't do anything up to your standards, they give up eventually and just let you do it yourself. My husband doesn't dress DS the way I would, and when he makes lunch he gives him things I might not have, and he plays with him differently from how I do, but that's okay. There is more than one way to be a parent and I know my way isn't the only way. As long as you agree on doing the big stuff the same, at the end of the day my kid is fed, clothed, and having a blast with his dad while I get to nap or have some time to myself and that is a-ok by me.

I don't consider myself to have a southern accent, but I know I sound a lot different than people up north with just how I pronounce words, run pretty much any word with "of" if it's used directly after that word, don't talk as speedily, etc. Most people in my family talk with a noticeable Texan accent, and I take pride in the fact that I don't have as noticeable of an accent as they do.

A lot of my DH's family is from Maine/lives in Maine. Portland is absolutely beautiful and worth a visit if you're ever on the East Coast! Further North is.... interesting haha

I'm not considered to have much of an accent around here (KY) compared to other areas of the state and such but when I talk to friends and family in other areas they can't get over my accent.
I don't like birth-order predictions.
Ex: "first born children are leaders," "the youngest child is spoiled."
Every child is different. There are so many other more influential factors that it annoys me when people get hung up on birth order.
I was firstborn AND spoiled, muahaha!
It was suggested by a jerk pediatrician (I was on the verge of aging out when diagnosed) that my lupus was caused by me being an only child. He said he had 3 patients with lupus, all only children. Still makes my blood boil thinking about it. He very quickly only had 2 patients with lupus.

He got his degree at the same place Dr.Google did.

No way!! I knew there had to be some out there somewhere. I realize I live all of the way across the country, but Seattle is pretty diverse and lots of out-of-staters are here. I still need to meet a Mainiac in person to believe it

Was his name Dr. Nick Riviera?
LOL, no. (I totally had to google who that was and then I was like, OHHH! HAHAH!) He was old and one of these old school doctors that didn't read up on much of the "new stuff."
I miss coffee WAY MORE than alcohol. I used to have a quad shot latte and pot of drip daily. Cutting back to 1-2 cups just isn't working for me. It's been a long time too since I was bfing DS1 until I got KU with DS2.

@strawberrytree
Well I already crossed the border and told them I had one so no worries there.
The fine is $110, which is funny because I saved more than that just by buying it in the US! I'm married to a cop who doesn't seem too concerned about it so I'm not either.
Edit - awful quote tree
Just sharing my experiences. I personally know a few people who have either gotten them confiscated at the border or been fined and then had them confiscated.
@fireflygirl12- they are indeed Mainers. I'm from MA but spent many summers camping/hiking up there, and many winters skiing. It's beautiful.
My dad's company is on the coastal MA/NH border, which is also quite close to the ME border, and a few of the warehouse guys commute down from Maine, some call their wives BMWs (Big Maine Women), though I'm not sure their wives are aware or fond of the term.
here's my odd opinion of Maine: people from there are either really hot, or quite unattractive, they don't have a lot of average looking people for some reason. Just my observation.
ok, off of the baby crib/shower thing, I think mustard is the ultimate condiment (the spicier, the more horseradish, the better!). And the best condiment for french fries is mayonaise.
Mustard over ketchup any day. I can't even think about ketchup without cringing. And French fries in mayo? Have never tried this!

It sounds gross, but I tried it a few years ago and I loved it!!!
American accents in general are lame. Give me an Irish accent. Or Scottish! Maybe some Australian... on a hot guy, of course lol.
- From the person with a boring midwestern Ohio/Michigan accent.
At least you don't get accused of saying ABOOT and NO DOOT ABOOT IT EH?
We don't sound like that! Although I will confess I do say 'eh' a lot. Aboot time I admit it.
I grew up near Toronto for 20 years, and always thought "Crazy Americans, we don't sound like that!!". When I moved to California, people would make fun of my "ou" words. Now, 10 years later, very rarely will someone catch me on an "OU" (usually about) and ask if i'm from Canada. However! When I go to Canada and someone says 'out' or 'about' I can TOTALLY hear the difference and see where the ABOOT came from. So weird! Obviously its exaggerated when they make fun of it - but it really is noticeable!

probably one of my biggest pet peeves..... So gross!
(Disclaimer: I have no issues with accents and do no condone puppy kicking - but I laugh so hard every time during this part of the movie.)
