Can't get the images out of my head of our litte dude tonight.. He was moving and yawning and smiling.. I could watch the DVD on repeat for the next 3 months. :x

Looking forward to my follow up A/S tomorrow afternoon! They tried to do some 3D/4D for us last time but he was hiding his face, so we're hoping he'll be more cooperative tomorrow!!

He was too I got some cute pics of him snuggled up.. Then I drank some juice and walked around and he woke up moved around a bit

@pineconey - are you back from your Bradley class yet? How was it?

Omg YESSSSS I just got home. I'm so freaking happy. My instructor is due in march, had a VBAC with her second and has suffered loss, the other woman in the class struggled with infertility for 6 years before her and her H ended up adopting a total of 3 kids, then SURPRISE she gets pregnant! She's doing a hospital birth but wants to be as natural as possible. Instructor is trying home birth for the first time. I love this class already!!!
Yay for good people in your class! Are you planning for a home birth?
  • I'm going to have to call my doctor. These black floaters aren't going away and I'm swelling everywhere. My skin feels like it's on fire. I'm nervous :(

@fireflygirl12 yes! So excited to home birth! I can't believe people think that home birthers are crazy- especially after hearing all of the things my classmate won't be allowed to do/have in the hospital! Our instructor is very familiar with the regulations for both hospitals in town, so she was able to give lots of advice. Seriously though, I can't imagine being ok with someone telling me I can't do or have something I want while I'm in LABOR! She said the hospital won't let you have any food, but suggested sneaking in hard candy and honey sticks if possible for energy if labor goes on and on. No wonder my instructor is ready for a home birth after 2 hospital births! I'm planning on ordering pizza in labor...

That's awesome! DH says no home birth for us :( I did unmedicated at our hospital and they let me eat whatever I wanted. Labor is hard and you need energy. No food sounds crazy!

@kseccomb17 I hope everything is okay, my dear. Keep us posted! Sending a prayer your way. Well, heaven's way. But on your behalf. You know what I mean. :)

...I just realized how ridiculous that statement is: "sending prayers your way." Huh. :-/

  • @fireflygirl12 aw I'm sorry he's so opposed! I'm very thankful that my H was willing to do the research with me and select a midwife we both felt comfortable with. He's excited about the Bradley method as well, and I'm SO thankful that he truly wants to be involved every step of the way. I'm hoping your birth goes well no matter where you are!!

(And that's NOT to knock hospital births- I just don't understand why people feel like it's appropriate to look at me like I have 3 heads when I say I'm having a home birth)

The amount of circumstances in which I find myself being looked at like I have three heads since I got pregnant baffles me. People are so flipping rude and clueless.
THIS. Thank God people limit it mostly to looks, or shut down quickly if they choose to say anything. I'm not mean about it, but I think most people in my life know by now that they have a snowball's chance in Satan's panties of talking me out of anything once my mind's made up.

@pineconey I would PM you but I bet your inbox is flooded right now so I'll just ask ;) how did you start the whole process of preparing for the home birth? We have to register for a bunch of hospitals stuff soon if we want to go that route but I DO NOT. SO is weary about birth in general but supportive of my wishes. So far all I've done is tons of research (listened to lots of podcasts about home birth vs hospital birth, lots of reading, and I watched the business of being born). Where did you start (other than finding a midwife which I'm working on)?!?!

ETA sorry that's so scatterbrained, I was in a rush lol hopefully you understood

  • So excited to go swimming today. Sciatic pain and harp playing do NOT go well together. I was almost in tears last night with every pedal I had to move. Luckily, its just baby laying on a nerve. Because as soon as he moves, its ALL better. Now, how do I get him to move while on stage during a concert, without looking ridiculous? heheh...any ideas?? (Maybe I should get one of those bras that has straws attached so you can drink out of it and fill it with orange juice. Actually, wait, that'd be weird. A harpist with some orange liquid funneling to her mouth mid concert.)

I give up on painting my nails. I will spend time meticulously painting them in hopes they last a few days and within a few hours they are already chipped. WTF! If anyone has any tips on brands or techniques to make them last longer please share. I used to go to the salon and get shellac but I've been cutting back on spending money on things like that so I have been trying to paint them at home instead.

I bought a shellac kit from Sally and I've been doing my own for about 18months... Its great and I've saved a ton. If you google youtube videos on it, it teaches you how to do it - and my little kit came with a DVD but I never watched it. It's just like paintint your nails, but with more steps and a UV light in between. I type for a living (about 90 wpm) and I can get almost 2 weeks out a manicure. Woot!

And I second what @aronie82 and @natpirtsaid, Sinful Colors is pretty great stuff for being like, $1.50 a bottle... And sometimes Wallgreens and CVS have it on sale for .99! I always seal that with my gel topcoat and I can get a week out of it. I have a nail polish problem. I need a support group or something!

I usually use SC on my tosies, with a good topcoat from Sally (I use the blue round bottle) I can get a solid month out of it, if I don't get a pedi-cravi, lol.

  • My hubs took the day off today and justified it with being able to get the ceiling and highest parts of the nursery walls done (I can't reach, but I married someone tall.. Bonus). I had better be able to get that room finished today, mister!!
  • There is no food in my house....I refused to go to the store since we are heading out of town tomorrow for 5 days and I didn't want stuff just sitting around the house for that long. Now I'm hungry and there are pretty much just scraps of stuff.

I started with finding a midwife who did home births in my area.  There are several, so I read through their profiles, looked for reviews online, and asked around.  Then we started the interview process- but I stopped after one because I ended up loving the first one we interviewed!  She's a midwife but also a certified naturopath, and she will also serve as our child's pediatrician.  She is a little bit more expensive than other midwives in the area, but I wanted the whole package with her other areas of expertise, and I don't regret it!  We have to pay OOP for this because insurance won't cover it, but the grand total for prenatal, birth, and postnatal check ups for 2 months is $2500.  For us, the benefits of birthing at home outweigh the cost, and we feel that we get a better value overall.
Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

  • @pineconey That sounds like a good price to me! I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up paying more than that for OB and hospital care after insurance. We paid like $2200 last time and I am pretty sure my secondary insurance was better then than it is now.

  • Ditto! Today can't go by fast enough. Work is a bitch today--I still don't know how someone horrible in math like me ended up in financial services. It just makes my professional frustrating/confusing at times. DH's car wouldn't start again, so I had to take him to work. And I forgot my chewy prenatals at home. The Starbucks mug has been the highlight of my day, sadly.
