This is my first pregnancy so no history for me, but my mom had pre-e with me...I'm tempted to go but I'm really nervous about a strange ER, strange dr etc. and I don't have any of the other symptoms the ask about, headaches (at least not more severe than normal) trouble breathing, vision issues, or bleeding/contractions.
I don't want to scare you at all, but my experience was that I never had any of those symptoms except for swelling in my feet that would not go down (and at the very end, back pain related to my kidney). My pre-e was severe. Chances are it's nothing and you are totally fine! Swelling is pretty normal, but if you have any concerns with it not going down I would check just to be sure.
ETA: I don't know your financial/insurance situation, but if you can easily afford the ER copay it may be worth it just for peace of mind if you continue to not have relief from the swelling or you find your kick count worrisome.

I know its scary to go by yourself to a weird emergency room. I've had to do it a few times, pre pregnancy. I was always treated really well. They know you're scared and I'm sure you'll feel much better if you just go and get checked out. You don't have to be having some extra major issues to warrant a visit. Its ok! Go let them take care of you. I promise you'll feel better knowing what it is or whether its anything at all.
I am insanely jealous of everyone who has snow. Christmas is not the same without snow. I have been without snow for 10 years. I get soooo homesick this time of year. I wish we had the money and that my Dr would let me travel so I could go home for Christmas. My kids have never had a white Christmas. I know wah wah wah. I am just bummed and having a hard night so forgive my whining.
@aviola329 I don't think the ER will even see you since you are past 20 weeks. Unless it is an emergency...I.e life threatening. They don't specialize in OB so they are kind of a cluster frock when it comes to OB stuff. If you can I would go to an L&D for better care and peace of mind. I am so sorry you are dealing with this
@bluebird2318 when did your swelling and pre-e start? I'm 23 weeks so I don't know if that's too soon for it to start or if it's within reason. Everything I've read says it starts closer to 28 or later?
@aviola329 To be honest, I can't remember exactly because I wasn't really concerned with the swelling at the time. I do remember that by the time I went to my friend's wedding I was 26 weeks and the swelling had already been going on for quite some time by then. If I really had to guess I would say that by 24 weeks it had already started. Maybe a little earlier than that even, but I would say by 24 weeks for sure. Definitely not any later than that. My severe symptom (the back pain) started at 28 weeks, but the swelling began well before that.
ETA: I do want to add that I did not have the high BP or protein in the urine until 28 weeks either. My swelling was the only symptom for a long time, but BP is so easy to check that I still think it's worth checking.

@mrscrcalli I had pre-eclampsia, but back pain and swelling are both common in normal pregnancies as well, so as long as you're having your BP and urine checked regularly I wouldn't fire up the panicmobile. It's always okay to get your BP checked if you have any concerns though.

@aviola329 Big hugs! I hope you feel better. Also, when I get tired/pain/worry I worry about baby and start to feel him less, even though I'm probably feeling him just as much. You know what I mean? You notice the time between kicks so much more when all you are doing is sitting there waiting for them. I'm glad you felt some!! Its a good sign.
@mrscrcalli As long as you haven't been getting freaky with any werewolves I think you are safe!
@aviola329 FX that everything is okay. Chances are very good that everything is! I just get on my pedestal about checking BP and such because of my experience. You are probably fine but let us know how it goes if you do go in.

@bluebird2318 I appreciate your experience and knowledge on the pre-e info. My pregnancy's already similar to my moms (from what I hear from aunts, mom still doesn't talk to me about my pregnancy but that's a whole other can of worms) so I've been concerned about pre-e for a while but my doctor seems to be brushing off my concerns, she may be right to do so this early, my bps been normal at my appts (but we also go early before all the stresses of my day lol) and no ones mentioned any issues with my urine samples at any appts, but of course I'm still going to worry.
If you don't end up going tonight, you could always run by a CVS and check your blood pressure in the morning, just to be safe.
Is anyone willing to send some thoughts and prayers/good vibes or whatever it is you do? My 5 year old niece is being life-flighted to a hospital a few hours away. Her heart rate is over 236 bpm. She has arrhythmia and pneumonia. They need to get her heart stabilized or we may lose her..
Thank you all so much for your kind words. My niece is still having a difficult time, but hasn't been flown out yet. She's becoming more alert as time goes on and her heart is at 178 bpm, much better than before.
Grrrrr. Just tried to put on yoga pants that have seen me through 20 pounds of weight fluctuations and they no longer fit. I can get them up, but they dig. I need new cozy pants.
The only ones I can wear now are my fold over ones from old navy. They aren't technically maternity, but wen I fold up the part that's supposed to be folded on my hips, it becomes like a belly panel and they fit perfectly. I'm wearing them in all of my hdbd pics.
BAHAHAHAHAHA @aviola329! I'm pretty sure those are the exact pair of pants I have that no longer fit. Fold over, old navy, non-maternity, check check and check. They've been so awesome for so long! ::sigh:: Oh well, they'll be waiting for me after the baby comes.

@aviola329 Whoops! I posted my haha thread before I read what was up with you. I'm so sorry you're scared and going through this! Take care, girl, and keep us updated. We're here for you!

@aviola329 Concern starts if your systolic pressure (the first number) is over 140. 120/80 is the standard, but your OB would likely start to show concern at 140/x. A single measure of 140+ doesn't necessarily indicate a problem but they would be keeping an eye on your BP at that point to make sure it doesn't remain elevated or get worse.

Yes, and 120-139 over 80-89 is "prehypertensive," and numbers over that are considered hypertensive.
Keep in mind that you might be nervous about the reading itself so, if it's high at first, take a breath, try to relax, and confirm the reading with a second test.
@aviola329 If nothing else, it is the perfect excuse to just kick your feet up and take it easy! A foot spa sounds amazing. Lying in a warm bath with feet propped up doesn't sound bad either! I got one of those bath tub back pillows the first time around.

Can't sleep. Bed at the in-laws is like sleeping on a rock--I consciously remember waking up to turn on each side at least 6 times and every time I turned, I could feel this shooting pain in my back. How did cave women do this pregnancy thing???
I have since relocated to the cushy leather chair in the living room to read until I either fall asleep or someone wakes up.
Hugs to you @aviola329, how scary!
Ugh, @Stace0616, I feel your pain! I'm in a twin bed that has to be made of rock. I love tossing and turning all night. Can I go home already?
This is going to be starting Monday night. Sleep at the in laws is always fun! LOL. Hopefully all the food will make me comatose and just sleep right through it! (must remember, not all the food AT ONCE, or my bowels and heart burn will hate me. Slowly consume the food. Slooooowly.)
ETA I should add my in laws are awesome. Just the bed is a bit uncomfy. hehe!
Totally cried myself to sleep last night and was an ass to DH.
He went to our Sheriff's viewing last night and was only planning on being gone about an hour but ended up being gone for 7. Well, of course there was a huge turn out and it lasted way longer than planned. It was also held at our church. DH is a very kind and helpful person and I love him for that, he run by me that he would like to stay and help out since no one else was there to help clean up after and get the church ready for the funeral the next day....I said it was fine and that I didn't mind, he is a board member of the church so its even kind of expected that he help when needed and only 3 other people volunteered to help.
What really got me is that he is going to be gone all day today as well because he is going to the funeral too and is helping clean up after. So I'm with the kids all day by myself again. I'm a SAHM so I spend time alone with the kids a lot and right now I am so overwhelmed because I can't remember that last time I had 5 minutes to myself because we've been so busy.
Right now there is no balance in my life and I think its finally catching up to me.
If anyone read though all that, thanks. I'm completely ok with ya'll thinking I'm as ass right now because I know I'm not being rational. This wasn't a rip at my DH either, he really does care and is a great father to our kids and spends a lot of time with them, but we are just so busy right now that the balance is thrown off and majority of the responsibility is on me right for the time being.

@Thomas930 Big hugs! You're not an ass. Your tired and grieving AND raising your kids while making another human. I would have a little break down as well!! No advice, just big hugs.

@aviola329- hugs and hope all is okay for you when you get up!
@thomas930- the holidays can be so overwhelming and let's face it, kids are exhausting no matter how much we love them! Everyone deserves a bit of a break!! I hope that after the funeral is over and Christmas passes, you'll be able to feel more relaxed and with any luck, get a few minutes to yourself. You deserve it! We all have our moments ((hugs)) !
Is it bad that I'm super annoyed at my boyfriend for these things? He sold his car so now we're down to one. I don't mind sharing a vehicle but he's constantly criticizing the cleanliness of MY vehicle and I keep telling him I'll clean it. He's pretty much rushing me to clean it as if I'm being somehow inconsiderate to him and all I'm thinking is "fuck you this is MY car. YOU decided to sell yours". He took it upon himself to clean it and he's still throwing words about how long it would have taken me to do which really bugs me. It's not like this is the house that we've always shared. This is the one thing in the relationship that is mine and he's pretty much taking it over. I appreciate his efforts but I'm really annoyed.
Thanks for the support girls, I really appreciate it. Thanks for letting me get that all out too, I like how this one particular thread ends up being a safe place to vent about things that you don't want plastered on the main board. I like our little group in here

@Aviola239- I hope you feel better soon. Sometimes our anxiety can make our symptoms seem worse than they are so just try to relax a little I know that's easier said that done.
@thomas930- I'm sorry you're having such a rough couple of days. I completely understand how you feel though. Maybe tomorrow you can take some time to yourself! Until then you are welcome to come here and complain to us I don't mind listening.
