Does anyone take into consideration names listed on the social security website for popularity? If a name shows up on their list is it off your list?

nope. DD1 is olivia and i loved the name since i was a little girl and was watching the cosby show. there were 3 other olivia grace's born on the same day at the same hospital as DD1.
I don't care about popularity. All of the names on our list had family significance, and some of them were in the Top 10 while others were family surnames that probably didn't hit the Top 1000. I do find myself drawn more to traditional names, though.
I'm a Sarah born in 1979 so I've always been one of many, but I've never minded. I like my name.
Yes name popularity mattered to me. I named DS Henry. My name is Helen. I didn't meet another Helen until I was 22 and no one since. I've been wondering if @helenahhandbasket might be named Helen too...
I don't really care about popularity ( obviously, I have an Olivia) and I really think because there are so many more options these days, that she won't be "1 of 10" in a class. It's not like Jennifer back in the day.
For example, in the year she was born, Olivia was the #1 name in our province. That added up to like 280 Olivia's born in 2011. Out of 30,000 babies in the whole province. Not really worried tbh.
There's 1 other Olivia in her daycare centre of 135 kids.
If we have another girl I'm kind of stuck on Beatrix solely because I want to nickname her Queen Bea. DH will shoot it down, but I'm enjoying my little fantasy nickname.
My real FFFC is that I am totally trying that interesting side venture that @MabelShesTheBomb posted about a short while back. I hope I make all the monies.
Wait, are you selling your used underpants on the internet? I'm intrigued.
@loislayn23 We call our Nora "the goose", because she used to honk and make funny noises when she was little. She is also fka Nora "the exploder", because she was the queen of blowouts. We even sang it to the tune of Dora's theme song.

Ok so I must know... are you selling your pubes?
People sell Pubes on the net?! For what? I really don't want to google this.
I actually love the girls name Elizabeth but I don't like basically a single NN that goes with it. It would be the main reason I didn't go with Elizabeth as a girls name.
ETA: I didn't realize "betsy" was a NN for Elizabeth and I do actually like that. I was think Eliza, Liza, Liz and Beth.
DD1 had a classmate named Elizabeth that went by Eli. I now adore Eli for a girl.

I am sure as hell going to try. Been researching and going to post a listing this weekend.
I must be broken, because this doesn't creep me out at all. I'm just like...what, I can make money for doing what I normally do anyways (wearing underwear)? YES PLEASE.
I'm not judging. Do your thing, but will you please keep us updated with the funny stories that are sure to come?
I guess another consideration is trendiness/popularity versus classic/popularity. William is a classic name. To me, something like Emma or Madison is trendier and therefore would easily date the kid (i.e. like the name Stacy).
I'm a Stacy and agree. Definitely a product of the 80s
Still waiting to hear why people sell pubes on the internet. Are people stuffing them into pillows? Is this worth growing a crazy mountainwoman bush for?

With DS1 I didn't want to name him any name I'd ever heard or known anyone with that name. DS2 is on the list but he is a family name. DD....her middle name was known before we knew she was a girl (3 generations with the same middle name and all that) and DH picked her first name.

A fucking pube pillow will haunt my nightmares now.
But you would have something to groom all night long.

My older sister and I both used the middle name of Grace after our grandma. I even asked for her permission since she used it first.
i would have used grace for a first name, but it sounds awful with our last name, which is also an adjective. i used to teach preschool and there was a little girl named grace and she was one of my favorite kids ever! some of my other best kid evers were bilal, rudy and yeh-rym.

I'm pretty sure someone related a story about someone eating them in his peanut butter sandwiches. At work. Because it got his jollies off that his coworkers didn't know.

WHAT?!! Was that a confession on here somewhere??? Was it one of our Dads? LOL

Pronounced like "ell-ee" or "E-lie"?
E-lie, like short for Elijah.

i LOVE the name beatrix, but DH shot it down i had a great great aunt named beatrix and she was known as aunt bea. if i was able to name my DD beatrix, she would have been trixie.
We call Tyler Ty, but I am not a huge fan of the name (I wanted Beau). I fought for the middle name (Connor, because my late & awesome grandmother was Constance and we are done having babies, so I won't be able to name a girl after her)
and I have gone over to my across the street neighbors house with my video monitor while the baby was sleeping before...I figure if the monitor is still in range, that's my radius (Parenthood reference, anyone?)
I am scared to get breast implants because I am afraid if I die Jesus would be like "really lady"...not that he wouldn't let me into heaven...it would just be embarassing. Like someone giving you a gift and then you mess it all up and they see it when they come to your house.
Re: FFFC!
Nope. Libby is the best nickname for Elisabeth/Elizabeth ever. FACT.

@HilarityEnsued this was my first thought when MIL suggested it for DS2.... Nope... Next!
@Aluenna
