  • @mackalien13 been there. Don't be too hard on yourself.

My oldest has become a huge smart ass. HUGE. It takes a lot of self control not to smack her back when she is saying extremely rude shit and swinging at my face.

This parenting gig can be frustrating. Esp on little amounts of sleep.

I must ask what you do when she swings at you? Does she get punished for trying to hit you? How old is she?

  • I'm in my pumping room at work and there is a visiting exec using the usually empty office next to it...he is fighting with his wife over the phone and the walls are paper thin so I can hear everything. I've been in here for 45 minutes!!
I'm going to need to know what they are fighting about.
Apparently he extended his trip to Jax from leaving today to leaving Sunday. She wants to know what important business he could "possibly have" over the weekend. He is calling her craY
DAAAAMN. He just told her to take her meds and she called him a little bitch. Why is this man taking this call on speaker phone??

Where is your hometown that they still hunt to kill foxes? Every fox hunt I've heard of uses either drag trails or "hunts" foxes on their land (or the land they've gotten permission to ride on) without killing the fox. Many hunts have named the foxes they hunt and will provide them with dewormers and such as needed. They say the foxes seem to enjoy it and will wait and watch and wait to run till the hounds are unloaded. Since most hunts need to get permission to ride on land and have limited land, they can't (or don't want to) kill the foxes or they'd run out of foxes to follow.

I'm not going to lie. I want to fox hunt (the kind that doesn't end in dead foxes). Running with a pack of horses and following the lovely calls of the hounds sounds fun.

I live in New England, I'm not going to broadcast my hometown as sabotaging hunts is illegal.

Yes, lots of hunts are run the way you speak of.  But people pay lots of money for the real deal.  These are not named foxes, this hunt is conducted with wild foxes that live on a spread of several hundred acres.

    Ick.

I was thinking of finding a fox hunt to hill top and hunt with next year, but now I'm worried since I'm in NE as well. I don't want to hunt in a fox hunt that actually kills.

For the record, I don't have an issue with typical (and careful) deer or turkey or duck hunters since those animals are killed quickly and their meat used. But death by hound dog and an unused carcass grosses me out.

I don't want to be a part of it. I'm going to have to be very careful about any hunt I participate in.

I just want to gallop across a field and follow the hounds and fell like in in Dowtown abbey.

  • To the women who married young, do just regret getting married so young, or do you regret actually marrying your husband?  Do you just wish you married the same person, but later in life?

  • I feel really fucking stupid.   I bought a phone off ebay, so I could get some wifi on a phone post bath dive of my original phone.  I didn't read the fine print of the phone I bought saying it had wifi issues.  Now I'm stuck with a phone that doesn't have working wifi, and we can't afford to get anything else.  I'm doing my damnedest to figure out what's wrong with it today, because I need internet access on my phone.  #FWP

That's a great question.  I honestly can say I am not sure of the answer.

  • I have become the person I swore I never would. I have no life outside of my children and husband. No interests, no hobbies. Nothing. I used to be fun and informed, I used to train horses and read books and hang out with friends. And then I had twins. My entire pregnancy was spent trying to keep them cooking, and now everything that I do has become about or for them. I hate who I have become. I mentioned this to a friend the other day, and all she said is "I've been wondering when you would figure that out." I don't even know how to find new interests or things to do, because, babies.

I've been there a bit too.

I freaked out on DH the other day that I can't wait for horses till his student loans are paid off. I need them in my life. He blinked and said he'd been asking other doctors if any of them owned horses to see if he could find a barn for post baby.

I know you've got twins, but you trained horses, so you're fairly capable I assume (at a minimum). Could you do an occasional catch ride, or free lease or something? I bet there's a horse owner who'd like a kind and capable rider to help exercise a horse. Perhaps there's some mom who can't ride as often who you could split riding time with?

Maybe not now, but another year from now. Or could you read one book a month? You can ease back into being yourself.
Thank you so much for this. I literally have tears in my eyes thinking about how much I would love to ride again. There is a new barn going up not far from me. I think I will call them during nap time to see if I can work something out.

Huge, creepy, over enthusiastic e-hugs to you @rondakhiker

  • I'm calling shenanigans on getting in a car, driving half a mile, waiting in a carpool line and driving back another half a mile in 3 minutes.
For real. I walk to get my kid and I am walking home with my kid before the carpool line has even moved an inch.

True story. I'm probably home before the first five kids get in their cars.

My confession is lame, but my kids haven't had a bath in days. It should have been yesterday, but instead I took a nap and then went to bunco and got tipsy. I left DH to deal with all three of them. I'm just glad they were fed and asleep before I got home. Clean can come later.

  • Also, in re: leaving a little one. Someone on my BMB posted about leaving her 6 month old alone to go to a party down the road. She had a video monitor, and thought that was acceptable behavior, even after being flamed. I'm glad that the OP in here learned from her mistakes. It takes so little time for something bad to happen.

Didn't someone on this board have a house burn down in like three minutes?

  • Oh I have another one, I hooked up with the guy I went out with last night. He's a comedian and a redhead, so naturally, I couldn't resist.
    Was it Louis CK?

    Lol.

I don't know. I know that modern houses can go up really quickly... Like less than ten minutes. I remember the poster being really upset about someone leaving a kid in the house and sharing the story. They seemed legitimately upset and I believed it, but I am gullible.

Preface this with I'm NOT going to leave her again.
That said, when I go at the end of dismissal, there's only about 10 cars in the line in front of me, and there are 6 pickup spots in front of the school.

IM NOT LEAVING HER. Just wanted to explain how our carline works. ;)

@reesefox I looked at this like 12 times and kept thinking it said cheerios. I'm all like "ooooohhh way to confess to eating cereal for breakfast, cheerios are soooo much worse than the 2 packages of kitkats I just devoured for breakfast." LOL
OMG, I thought it said Cheerios too, until you just pointed it out.

  • I think a bigger problem is having these houses go up so quick. That is SCARY. I'm going to find some kind of flame retardant spray to cover my house in.
