I am over here just dropping everything. Ughh. I just dropped a very big pyrex bowl, but I was sort of trying to block its landing as it fell, so luckily it didn't break. But I also managed to tense every muscle in my pelvis in the process, too! Not that I'm going to stress out about that now or anything... :/
@BusinessWife oof! I'm not a doctor but I'm sure it's probably nothing to worry about (easier said than done, of course!) I feel like every little twinge or muscle thing sends me into an immediate anxiety spiral. super not fun. also, I was literally just thinking about starting this thread this week but late and then saw you did xD You are so on it.
Oh boy this is a long one lol. 5 weeks tomorrow. I'm not sure if I feel clumsy so much as I feel like I'm less aware of my body boundary (something I used to be very aware of as a dancer), like I'll run into things or my arm will hit something because I misjudged how far it was from me. I've definitely been very spacey and I am not moving as quickly as I used to be as far as mental efficiency is concerned; I'll straight up be in mid sentence and lose track of where I am and go silent for several seconds. also still lightly cramping, no spotting/bleeding though. the GIF up top is the perfect thing to describe how I feel in the afternoon now, I am EXHAUSTED and need a nap basically right as soon as I get home before I can do anything. feeling that nausea/sour stomach feeling when I smell certain things (like freshly baked brownies, wtf baby) or when I haven't eaten for a long time, not hitting in the morning really but definitely in the afternoons/evenings. Also noticing some heartburn when I have even a little chili powder (that's new). Oh and of course - my boobs HURT. Overall I'm feeling like it's a new thing every day!
It's a lot but definitely manageable so far. appreciating that while it lasts, haha.
@BusinessWife glad you didn’t break your Pyrex! That would have been a mess!!
my biggest symptom right now has been mild cramping, it happens pretty regularly. But I also had cramping with my son and my ectopic pregnancy that weren’t related to the ectopic, so I hoping and praying that this is normal. But boy, does it have me on edge. The food aversions- coffee, are back. And I’ve not been able to eat as much without feeling nauseous! It’s funny how these bad symptoms feel reassuring though. 😅
@photographerwife Food aversions are the worst. I am starting to get some, and I always end up with weird ones.
I've had periodic cramping. This may sound weird, but I'm waiting to wake up in the middle of the night to pee. It will probably take another week or 2, but it's a symptom that was missing with my blighted ovum. Also, my hair falls out in first trimester. I have zero idea why, and doctors look at me like I'm nuts, but it literally falls out in clumps. It's pretty similar to post-partum hair loss in severity. It stops around 2nd trimester, and doesn't return until about 3 months post-partum. So I'm currently shedding like it's my job.
What is everyone eating these days? Nothing sounds good to me, and most things are starting to make me nauseated.
@makingbacon for reasons I don't understand, I wanted bacon/truffle oil/parmesan brussel sprouts the other day and lemme tell you, they were delicious! on the more normal end, still love my scrambled egg avocado toast, sweet potato fries, and mixed berries (strawberries/blueberries/raspberries/blackberries).
@BusinessWife I didn't think of being clumsy as a symptom, but pregnancy does all kinds of surprising things!
@photographerwife Food adversions are horrible and I'm dealing with that too. That was actually my first sign that made me test because I was eating chicken, which I love, and was disgusted and couldn't eat it.
*Point of Order / Organization* (I asked over on the Read Me as well)
Does anyone have an objection to making Symptoms one of the monthly threads? It just kind of a random ongoing thread anyway, so it seems a little high-maintenance to me, someone having to restart it each week. Please feel free to share your thoughts either here, or on the Read Me.
@makingbacon kind of random but my bestie is 4 months postpartum right now and going through the hair loss. I saved a TikTok for her the other day. Full disclosure we don’t know this works but she’s trying it😂 https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMewuUTSB/
My worst symptom is probably exhaustion. Trying to keep up with my boys during the day right now is so rough. By the time my husband gets home in half asleep on the couch. I’m waiting for the breast tenderness to start. No food aversions yet. I usually get some serious heartburn while pregnant and that hasn’t started yet either and I’m honestly hoping it doesn’t for a while.
@fuscok88. Oof, the heartburn. I usually get that too moreso than nausea. :/
@chgilmorebthats probably a good way to put it too, lowered bodily awareness. I keep bonking myself! Like hips or elbows walking through doors? The big one that is super annoying is if I misjudge and kick the dog/baby gate. I literally kicked it right out of place the other day! 🤦
@BusinessWife I’m good with it being a monthly thread.
@fuscok88 I’m willing to try it lol. I’ve told several doctors about it, and they all just say it’s not normal, but not worry about it. I just want to keep my hair lol.
I feel like my symptoms are gone my boobs aren’t even that sore anymore, and with my anxiety I’m just not handling well I just don’t feel pregnant, my stomach is bigger but it’s like fatter, not bloated, not pregnant, just fat, but I also stopped working out when I found out I was pregnant because I’m so scared I’ll lose the baby. As soon as I get my first sonogram I know I’ll feel better and start working out again, I’m just a bundle of anxiety, a mess. I’ve got a lot going on right now and I’m just so sad I’m not enjoying this time
@livingoffpbjs I'm sorry you're finding these early days so stressful. Whatever mild symptoms I have just come and go in the beginning, I know for myself, I can't get too attached to feeling anything in particular and take that as a sign. Like, am I just irritable, fat, and exhausted, or *pregnant lady* irritable, fat and exhausted. Who can say? ((((Hugs)))) I know it's hard to trust that everything is coming along. I don't know what level of working out you were doing, but would it maybe help your mentality a bit just to try taking a walk? Fresh air, sunshine, a little bloodflow - a walk is not going to hurt the baby in any way shape or form, and you might just feel better afterwards? Hang in there. How soon is your slforst scan?
@livingoffpbjs I’m sorry you’re feeling so stressed you aren’t able to enjoy this early bit. If it brings you any comfort, I’ve never had strong or consistent early pregnancy symptoms with all 3 of my previous pregnancies and there are so many little things that could be pregnancy related or just life related (mood, having to pee more, fatigue etc). Do you know when you can have your first scan yet? I hope you have more peace of mind after!
I'm right there with you. . For a few days my symptoms weren't there and I was psyching myself out, but then a few days later they came back. I find doing a some deep breaths helps and my first ultrasound appointment isn't till July 7th
@livingoffpbjs Sending hugs. Anxiety is the worst, and this portion of pregnancy is my least favorite part. My symptoms come and go, too, just like @BusinessWife and @alexxajams said. Would having your betas ran help, or is your ultrasound soon-ish?
@livingoffpbjs I’m sorry this first trimester is being stressful for you. Everyone’s pregnancies can be so different, and I think it’s very normal to not have any substantial symptoms until the 6-8 week mark. And even then, some people don’t. I hope your scan gets here quickly and you get some peace of mind.
AFM. I am dying with nausea! All day every day. I feel sick. I can’t stomach any coffee or meat and I am dying. Ive never had symptoms this early, and especially not this strong, with my son, or my ectopic pregnancy. While it is semi reassuring, I am ready to be able to eat and breathe again without being nauseous. Even the taste of my mouth is getting me, and brushing triggers it more!
Also, since I’ve been monitored for another ectopic with betas and early scans, l have a scan tomorrow with my ob to make sure things are progressing normally. I went in last Friday with some abdominal pain and had a scan but it was too early to see much. At 5w0d all we saw was the gestational sac in my uterus, so I’m praying for more progress, and healthy babe tomorrow!!
@livingoffpbjs I'm feeling you with the stress. some days I wake up and feel nothing almost all day, and some days (like today) I am hit with the "you need to eat asap or else" nausea. hoping for peace for you and keeping fingers crossed @photographerwife I'm glad babe is in the uterus at least! I'm sorry it's hitting you so hard rn though. Have you been able to try anything that helps with the nausea (ginger lemon tea, lemon roll on oil, etc)? Fx all goes well with your scan tomorrow!
eep! So exciting you got to see the babe already! @photographerwife and reassuring that he/she is in the right place :) How far along will you be at tomorrow's scan?
@chgilmore I haven’t yet. I’ve just been suffering through. But that lemon tea sounds great! I’ll have to see if I can find some!
@BusinessWife yeah! I hope it goes well, I should be 5w6d or 5w5d. according my my dates, 6, but lmp is showing 5, so who knows! And yes it is reassuring, I’m just nervous. PGAL is tough. Apparently you’re not totally out of the clear for ectopics until you see the yolk sac, because you can have a psuedo Gestational sac? But my betas have trended great and my nurse said I’m in the clear. So I’m hoping for the best. But still nervous! You have a scan Friday too right?
Yes! I do! @photographerwife I am super excited, but of course the closer it gets, the nerves start to kick in, too. I feel bad too because it's MILs birthday, and if it were my mom's birthday, I would think I would be telling her, even if we hadn't had the scan yet. But DH says to wait. So fine. And I mean honestly, my mom was a little weird when I told her about DD at 8 weeks, so... maybe in reality I wouldn't be anyway? It's just hard wishing I could share the excitement with her like that come what may. I have a couple pals who are all long distance, AND YOU GUYS OF COURSE, but it's not the same. I will look forward to finally telling people because I just feel so darn lucky right now, i want to enjoy every minute while it lasts.
@BusinessWife I hear you! I’ve been stoked to tell my mom and in-laws too, but I want to wait until after we have a good scan- I was thinking 8 or 12 weeks. But I haven’t decided yet! But that gives me time to come up with something cute! I’m absolutely wanting to enjoy this one while it lasts too! Which is why I want to do something cute. We didn’t do big announcements with ds, and hopefully this will be our last! Hopefully when you tell your mom this time, she isn’t weird about it!
@photographerwife We told FIL and SMIL a little earlier than we otherwise would have because of FILs birthday - both times! lol So at least this one will break the streak if it's closer to DH's birthday. Do you have any special family events coming up that you could piggyback on? Unfortunately, my mom passed not long after DD was born, never even got to meet her, so ... I suppose she already knows. <3
@BusinessWife I don’t really have any events to piggy back off of. But they live just a few houses down and watch our son a couple of times a week. So I’ll just sneak it in one day. And I’m sorry about your mom. I totally understand, my dad passed when I was 20, and I always wonder about the grandad he would be. It’s difficult, but I know he’s sending down all his love.
Y'all. The metallic mouth taste plus extra saliva have hit and are not helping with the nausea and it's making everything taste gross. Has anyone found a good mask for the taste?
@chgilmore haven't experienced those yet! I just feel sooo bloated despite eating healthy and drinking a ton of water. I tried to do a 2 mile run today and felt very sluggish and got a side ache almost immediately!
I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this, but I figured I’d do it here since i mentioned it here yesterday. But I had my scan today! At 5w5d and we saw baby, the yolk sac and the heart beat!! I am overjoyed that this is a healthy pregnancy and things are progressing well so far! It’s also crazy to me that the apps and stuff say baby is about the size of an apple seed now too, but here is proof!
@photographerwife Congratulations! That’s so exciting! I was reading your earlier post about pseudo gestational sacs, and thought it was crazy that can happen.
AFM: How am I so nauseous this early?! The smell of meat cooking on a grill almost took me out this afternoon mid-meeting.
I swear my stomach bloats at the thought of food, which has me wondering how fast one shows with baby #3? I started showing with DS2 at 9 weeks. It was tiny, but I felt huge lol.
@makingbacon I’m right there with you! Nauseous all day! Everyday! Smells, and swallowing stuff sometimes makes me so sick. I’ve heard you show earlier with subsequent pregnancies, so I guess we’ll see! Good luck! Hopefully you don’t start showing too bad before you’re ready to tell everyone!
@lexilougolden Props on even attempting a run right now! Lol. I know I'm going to have to start getting some exercise here, even if it's just at home, or this is going to be a loooonng pregnancy. Honestly even just sitting on the floor and actually stretching, I totally feel it.
@makingbacon idk but the bloat is real! DD told me I had a big tummy the other night. Lol it's definitely worse at the end of the day, too. But I'm going around trying to remember to, "suck it in," so it's not too obvious, too soon. We are planning to announce like end of July, so we'll see if anyone guesses... Luckily, we still don't have too many occasions to see family around between now and then, so? 🤷 I may or may not keep driving to MILs to work from her house a couple days a week - that's about the only thing.
@chgilmore that metallic taste is so weird! I don't get it all the time, but I think hard candies, like ginger or lemon can help?
@photographerwife we told FIL with a onesie for his birthday present, plus DD changed into a Big Sister t-shirt. I still have the shirt, that might be a bit big on BG, but so what. Now I just need another big sister that matches? I was also thinking of getting DH a new dad t shirt, but idk if he would be brave enough to wear it to his birthday party like I am sorta hoping... At least the children will wear whatever you put them in - it's the husbands who are harder! Lol<div> @livingoffpbjs. How are you feeling?</div>
Heeeeelllllpppp the nausea is unreal. Im not actually vomiting but im soooooooo nauseas and just want to fall asleep with my head in a bucket. No longer can stand the smell of coffee or really any other smells, good bye bath and body works soaps ugggghhhhh
Oh dear @livingoffpbjs. Have you talked to your doctor? I know a lot of women find relief from a combination of B6 and unison (which I believe is similar to zofran). But your doctor may be able to advise you better. Hope you find something that helps!

@makingbacon Ice cream
@chgilmore I have been taking 2 naps when I can!
My symptoms are what have been mentioned, food adversion, fatigue, starving all the time though. Nothing unique, yet...
