@calimama88 you’re not the only one with an “advanced maternal age” halo! I’ll be 40 in June. I too have been concerned about the possibilities of getting pregnant, this would be my 1st child. Started IVF procedures in Oct/Nov last year, and we happened to get naturally pregnant in between rounds- which is pretty special.
Definitely still concerned about genetics testing, m/c and similar issues, but I’m trying to just enjoy the fact that it happened- and the possibility that everything could be normal is keeping me excited 😀

How did you find out? I had my annual wellness visit with my obgyn on a Friday, which was around the end of my TWW. I ended up taking a test the day before, although I thought it would be negative. Turned out it was positive, so that wellness visit turned into a prenatal one.
Tell us about yourself: 2 boys - 4 and 2. 2 dogs- we recently recently adopted a puppy from a rescue. She was from a litter of 4 girls that were dumped on the side of the road. The rescue didn't have any idea of what breed they were but guessed at "a medium-sized dog...probably 25 to 35 pounds." Well, we decided to do a DNA test on her to find out what she was after we adopted her because she kept growing...and growing..and growing. In an exciting then of events, we adopted a small horse. Turns out she is equal parts American Bulldog, Great Pyrenees, and Lab (with a little bit of cattle dog)....Gotta love it.
How are you feeling? Physically, meh. Just always tired and nausea on and off. Emotionally...cautiously excited. It happened a little quicker that both the hubby and I thought it would, so just trying to process it. We have an US on the 5th, so just trying to keep busy until then!
@penny624 I found out the same way! I had my wellness exam scheduled and realized..hey I haven't had my period yet..took a test the morning of the exam and bam BPF! So I went to the exam and was like yeah..change of plans!
Been lurking around for days undecided between sharing or not because of all my nerves associated with the first trimester.
My due date is September 22 based on LMP. My partner and I were not trying, in fact I found out going into urgent care with side pain due to kidney infection and doctor gave me the news! Talk about shocker, I did not believe him and proceeded to go buy boxes of home tests. All positive with solid lines a day after missed period. I got some bloodwork done and HCG and progesterone levels were all high.
I am 32 and living in NYC, I am in the social justice field and my partner is in law enforcement. This would be the first pregnancy for both of us. We are super excited but nervous. My first U/S is scheduled for the 9th and I’m trying to keep it together until then and staying off internet to avoid rabbit holes.
I feel pretty good, some light cramps that come and go, no nausea and on and off again breast soreness, queasy here and there especially around certain food smells.
@car1167 - Congratulations!! I still have you beat by a year, but glad I’m not the only one here in the age range. 😅 Praying for lots of sticky dust to you! At least at our age, we get extra screening and ultrasounds!

Hello! Lurked for a bit but wanted to introduce myself. I’m 35 and have two kids, 6 and 4 years old. I was active on here for my first pregnancy. Due date is 9/14 and my first appointment next week. So weird to be doing this again but it’s starting to feel more real with nausea and sore breasts. Looking forward to getting to know you all.
M14 January Siggy Challenge: Resolution I have no intention of keeping...SHOPPING LESS!
Hi Everyone, Stacey here. Nice to meet you all! and Congratulations all Around!!!
Due date? September 20th.
We had been trying so I took a test a few days before my period was expected. I've had two prior (early) losses so I was very anxious to accept the news until now. Will have my first US later this week and looking forward to the confidence that will bring.
I am a career woman turned step mom and soon to be Mom overnight. I will be 41 years old in a few days and spent the last 15 years traveling the world as a top global executive. Decided to settle down a few years ago and was lucky enough to meet my Partner and everything fell into place. My Partner lives in NH but I am from NJ. When Corona hit I moved up with him and his kids. So I went from Dads cool girlfriend to evil step mom overnight! haha, jk. But all in all life is great and we decided to start trying for a third about 6 months ago.
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good so far. Although the bloat is something major isn't it!? No morning sickness but generally feeling real tired and have some nauseous waves here and there.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone and following all the beautiful journeys! S
I am bit late in posting here because of my nerves from this being my first time pregnancy.
I am due Sept 2nd. I found out a few days before Christmas. I was feeling exhaustion and nausea, so I took the test and it came out positive.
I am 34 and living in Chicago. My partner and I have been married for just over a year and this is the first pregnancy for both of us. I like to spend time with family and friends but with covid around, I have been going on a lot of hikes lately.
I just had my first appointment and ultrasound today and I am just feeling relief to have finally seen the baby for the first time. Taking this beautiful journey one step at a time. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Like many others, I have been lurking for a while because of anxiety around the viability of this pregnancy but decided to take the plunge. I've never posted to these forums, always been a lurker, so let me know if I don't put warnings in the right spot, etc.
Due date? September 29th (based on ultrasound)
How did you find out? Pregnancy test - we have been actively trying for a while so I took a test around when I thought my period should be here based on when I think I ovulated (*TW* I had a missed miscarriage diagnosed in October. It took ~6 weeks for the HCG to drop to 0 and the spotting to stop and I never really had a regular period before ovulating and getting pregnant again so dating is a little iffy).
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I have a four year old son, a ~15 year old cat, and husband (married 6 1/2 years). My job involves a lot of reporting, some financial analysis, and whatever else they ask me to do. Things I like to do currently - addicted to a game on my phone called Stardew Valley, google pregnancy related things that alternate between reassuring me and worrying me, and trying to get back into reading (was a really big reader through my early 20s but have been sporadic since then).
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) Incredibly anxious, though slightly less after an ultrasound today showed a heart beat. Main symptom is exhaustion. Have had spotting for a week now which doesn't help with the anxiety.
@rockyrose I've just started getting into reading again too! It's kinda nice to do now that all the fatigue is hitting me. I tried napping on the counter during breakfast but my kiddo sternly told me it was not yet nap time. ... I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I've also just started spotting this week as well and automatically my mind went to the worst case scenario as several friends have had MCs lately. However in my previous 2 pregnancies I spotted and they were both successful, so I'm trying to not get too anxious about it. I decided to cut out my exercise bike routine for a little bit as I think it's been triggering my spotting, since it always happens sometime after a workout. Hope that yours goes away so you can just enjoy your little peanut!
@chewie5990 I actually have the computer version of the game too, but like the phone version better (or maybe I just find it more accessible since I don't have to get my laptop out?).
@sleepydaze Thanks for the reassurance! I didn't have spotting when I was pregnant with my son, so it's nice to hear about those who have had it during successful pregnancies. I haven't totally stopped exercising but I've really cut back to mostly just brief walks. I hope your spotting stops soon too!
Hey all!! Another lurker coming out of the shadows.
Due date? 9/13
How did you find out? We have been NTNP for about half a year now and my boobs were feeling sore and swollen for a couple days and I just "felt" like I was KU, so I took a test and got an immediate positive.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) This is my 4th pregnancy, and (hopefully) 3rd baby. I'm a 30 yr old mom of 2 boys (6 and 3). My husband and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 9.5 yrs. We have 2 dogs, a basset named Lucy and a puggle named Baxter. I'm an RN at a hospital in Lincoln, NE. I love to read, spend time with family and friends, and be outside.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) So far I'm feeling good! Just sore boobs and a few aversions popping up. I have an ultrasound coming up on Friday and then my first official OB appt on the 18th.
Here's to a happy and healthy pregnancy for us all, ladies!
I’m Ramsey and I’m from coastal North Carolina. I just found out on the 11th that I am very unexpectedly pregnant with our third (😳) baby, due Sept 11th. The holidays were such a whirlwind that I didn’t even realize I was pregnant until I had completely missed my period. We have 5 and 2 year old girls who we had to really try for so this was a surprise, but a wonderful surprise. I’m a hairstylist but I plan to go back to school and get a Masters in Public Health starting in January 2022.
I already feel like absolute garbage but I’m ok with it because I don’t have my first midwife appointment until Feb 19th, so at least it lets me know something is going on in there!
I have been part of BMB groups in the past and I enjoy participating a bit but mostly lurking. Praying that everyone has an awesome journey together!
I went in the hospital to have a plate removed from my arm, I broke it in August. I was all set to, iv in and everything when the nurse came in and said " honey your positive" I thought she meant for Covid... lol They did blood test and it came back positive as well. Surgery was canceled. I was crying and had to call my husband to pick me up. He was very confused and I had to tell him over the phone bc he was so concerned why surgery had been canceled.
My husband and I have been married since 2015. We live in south Texas. We have a daughter that will be 2 in March. We love the coast and are often at my in laws enjoying the salty air or at my parents in the hill country. We have two dogs, a lab and red heeler.
I feel much better after my first appointment and ultra sound. TW I had a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks a year before I got pregnant with our daughter. So it's a little hard to let myself be really excited. I feel okay, mostly tired and definitely more nauseous than I remember with my daughter.
Due date? Sept. 8 (I think. I'm not 100% sure on dates)
How did you find out? I had COVID over Christmas and thought maybe it was causing me to be late. NOPE! After I broke down super stressed with my son crying on the floor, I figured I was either about to get my period or pregnant. Took a test a couple days later when I was still waiting.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I have a son who will be 3 next month. I work in higher ed and my husband works for a beer distributor. I feel like we were just getting comfortable being parents to one kid. It's crazy to think we're having another!
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?)
TW: IF and loss
We were not trying, so it was a total shock I got pregnant "accidentally" (we know when it happened and knew we were kind of rolling the dice...).
This is my fifth pregnancy. I had an early loss, a stillborn daughter, and a daughter who had trisomy and passed at 13 weeks. It's a constant struggle to stay present and be happy in pregnancy and forget about loss, but I think I'm doing a lot better than I did with my son.
I have an amazing OB who lets me come in more often than usual for ultrasounds to help keep my anxiety down. We saw the heartbeat last week, and I'll go back again tomorrow ahead of the NIPT blood draw.
Due date? Oct 1st, but will be a scheduled CS so sometime in Sept!
How did you find out? At 5 weeks. My boobs were sooooooo sore.
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I’m 30, from Manitoba Canada. Married to DH (36) with two DD (9 and 4). I’m a nurse and my husbands a farmer.
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I’ve had a dating ultrasound and a few appointments due to protein in my urine (due to work stressers). Feeling blah, sick on my night shifts, boobs and back hurt but such is pregnancy haha.
I’ve been lurking for a bit but figured it was time to introduce myself.
How did you find out? Missed a period... oops! This one was a surprise!
Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) I’m 38, work as a scientist, run our cattle ranch, and raise our 4 and 2 year old kiddos. DH is super excited about having a third, but I think we are both a little freaked out!
How are you feeling? (First appointment? Any symptoms? Emotionally?) I have two living children, but this is my sixth pregnancy. Naturally I’m pretty nervous, but I also have been down this road enough times that I know what to expect either way. So far I have had great ultrasounds, just waiting for my results for genetic testing... which is so nerve wracking!
I’m glad to join this group! Sounds like there are quite a few AMA moms and third baby moms too!
Hi all, I know I’m late to the party. I’m a lurker through first try due to my history.
I’m due 9/25. I haven’t been tracking cycles in about a year so we’ve bounced around on due date.
Mood swings and forgetfulness made me test.
We live in NJ and have a son who is 4. We had a ton of trouble having him and tried for a few years for a 2nd but aged out of trying about a year ago. So this is a surprise. I work full time from home as a pension analyst and have a dog who takes being my coworker a little too seriously.
Still feel terrible but do have a day here and there where I feel almost normal. We have NT scan/NIPT next week.
Looking forward to participating and learning more about everyone!
I just remembered about the bump community from my other pregnancies! How fun to have found you all!
Due date is 9/28. I am quite regular so I suspected as soon as I was a day late
This will be my 5th, we have twins who will be 7 in a week, a 4 year old, and a 2 year old.
I’ve had 2 appointments so far but this time around I decided against the early ultrasound since my cycles are so regular. I used an OB for all my other babies but this time I’m using our family practice doc until I need to switch to an OB. It’s been nice!
I’m surprised at how yucky I’ve felt so far. I had some nausea with the others but this time it’s different. I was working full-time as a nurse with the other pregnancies and fairly active but now I’m a not working outside the home so maybe I just have more time to think about how I feel. Ha!
I'm so late to the party!! But we're still in shock to be honest. This is a wonderful surprise 2020 vasectomy baby (which we only got because we found out we were pregnant in 2019 and knew 3 kids was our "done". ***TW***We unfortunately lost the baby not long after the vasectomy and have regretted it ever since. So it's a very happy shock/surprise)
We're due September 11th!!
I knew almost immediately, but laughed it off because of the old vasectomy of 2019. Ha ha...ha. I took a pregnant test after being a little late and it immediately confirmed #3 was on the way!! ❤️
I'm one of the "old gals", turning 41 in April. But both of my grandmother's had their last babies at 45 so I'm just carrying on the legacy. We have a 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son... So this baby will be our tie breaker!!! We don't plan on finding out the sex until birth (we didn't with the other two either, but this time it's harder to not peek at the NIPT test results in my inbox to find out).
I love to listen to podcasts, workout (though couldn't for the first two months because I was too busy vomiting), dance, garden, read and laugh as much as possible in these crazy times! 😊
I've had two appointments so far and am finally feeling like a human again. I sure do love the second trimester!!!!!
Yeah, it's definitely been a mind bender.... In the best of ways. But it also seems appropriate for 2020 😂. My favorite was my doctor (who I've been with a decade) asking if there's any chance it's someone else's! 😱. But, not even a little, especially considering we have been together almost non-stop for over a year now.
Re: Introductions!
Definitely still concerned about genetics testing, m/c and similar issues, but I’m trying to just enjoy the fact that it happened- and the possibility that everything could be normal is keeping me excited 😀
