Since we already have at least one baby whose made their entrance, I thought I'd start a birth stories section for those that are still around and want to share. I don't know how to have this stickied or whatever but if you do, help!
Callan Robert Campbell (yes, two middle names) arrived on Sunday, March 15th, at 6:50am, 37+3 gestation! He was 7lbs 10oz and 21" long. After two weeks of midwife visits with high blood pressure, I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension (what could we all possibly be stressed about? 😂) and my midwife and I decided to induce that night, after we got to put our eldest to bed as an only child, for the last time.
We arrived at the hospital at 9:15 and, by 10:30, we'd started with a foley ball and a dose of cytotec. Around 3:30am, I got a second dose of cytotec and, at 4, my water broke. I had a TON of amniotic fluid that had been cushioning the intensity of the contractions, so they really ramped up quickly, from there. By 5:30, I was asking for an epidural, which I got by 6. At 6:30, they checked me and I was complete +2. At 6:40, I started pushing and, at 6:50, Callan was born! We're both healthy and doing well, after coming home yesterday afternoon to hunker down and avoid everyone and anyone for a while, amidst the pandemic. Sending you all good labor vibes! ❤
Gavin Michael was born 3/17/20 at 7:45pm. I also had pregnancy induced hypertension and was 37w6d, 6cm dilated and fully effaced so they decided to go ahead and induce. We started pitocin at 5:15pm, broke my water at 7:25pm and baby #3 was born after 6 min of pushing! It went from 0-60 so fast but we are both doing great and hopefully being discharged this evening. Gavin is 19.75in tall and 6lb7oz. My biggest baby so far! He's amazing and we cannot wait to get home to meet big brother and big sister!
Hi ladies! TB has been a jerk lately, so I’m sorry I’ve been MIA!
Team green no more, we now know we are team blue! William Allan made his appearance almost a week ago(what?!)!
I went in for my weekly for gestational hypertension appt last Thursday (19th) and my blood pressure went up. Baby was in position and low, I was already dilated to 2cm, 80% effaced. My doctor gave me the go ahead to get induced the next day (20th). As we were leaving our house that night, we got a call that they didn’t have a bed for me. We were told to go home and they would call us. I got the call at 5:40 the next morning (21st) to be there by 7:30. We scurried to get ready and made it there in time!
At 9:00, they started my pitocin and a balloon. The progress was slow, and by 7:30 that night I was 4cm dilated, 60% effaced, -2. The balloon fell out and I also lost my mucus plug at that time. The doctor came in and broke my water, soon followed by the epidural. At about 9:00, MH noticed that there was a puddle on the floor next to my bed. Yup... it was the epidural drip. I wasn’t getting any meds. They came in and fixed it, then around 12:30 I relaxed enough to sleep. I woke up at 2:30 in the morning to intense and frequent contractions in my lower back. At that point I was told my epidural probably wouldn’t take effect since it was back labor I was experiencing. 🙄
By 8:00 in the morning I was getting close, and was starting to feel the need to push. The doctor came in around 8:45 and we started pushing at 8:55. After 35 minutes of pushing, I heard the sweet words “it’s a boy!” William was placed on my chest and I was instantly in love.
Now comes the TW... it gets ugly and graphic, but I want to share my experience. After they finished stitching me up (ugh) I started feeling gushes of blood. I thought this was normal and thought nothing of it. The nurse asked to change out the pads under me. When she lifted the sheets and saw all the blood, she pushed on my uterus and more blood came gushing out along with large blood clots. She called the doctor and the doctor was back in my room within minutes. When she saw the blood, she put her arm (yes, arm) inside of me to “feel around”. She wound up pulling blood clots out of me for an hour. They had to take William off of my chest because I literally was getting my guts pulled out of me. It was terrifying, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
After a blood transfusion and lots of meds, William and I were released from the hospital on Wednesday, and now we are home and getting used to this new life.

Oliver Alden was born 6 days early, on 3/24/20 @ 1:09 am. 8 lbs 3 oz, 21 inches long.
I was 3 cm dilated at my OB appointment on 3/19 and had been having more frequent (painless) contractions up until Monday 3/23 morning, when I woke up around 6:30 am to slight cramping with each contraction. Went to the bathroom and had some brown-tinged discharge. Contractions for most of the day were irregular and around 2-3 per hour. Around 6 pm on Monday, contractions were definitely more painful than earlier in the day and I was sure this was it. When my contractions were 5-6 minutes apart, we called the doctor, and he said to come in. Got to the hospital around 9:45 pm and was 6 cm dilated. Got my epidural around 11pm. At 12:40 am I was 10 cm dilated. I pushed for 30 minutes and he was out at 1:09 am.
Oliver is baby #2 and the whole process was much easier than with my first. Labor was shorter, no tearing, less vaginal trauma/swelling, less postpartum bleeding, less postpartum cramping, milk came in sooner.
It's a weird time to give birth. We will all have our babies during this scary and historic time. I know I have been MIA for a while, but I think of you all often and wish you luck with your deliveries and happy, healthy babies. ❤️
Guess I should add my story. Went to my 36 wk appt on 3/20 and got told there was a lot of protein in my urine. Got the preeclampsia diagnosis once again and got told I was getting induced on 3/24. Went in at 7 am 3/24 and got started with pitocin. Started at only 1 cm dilated. Around 12:30 got my epidural. Around 3:30 ob checked me and broke my water and I was only 3cm. Couple hours later he came back and I was still at 3cm and he thought I wasn't going to progress enough to have baby same day. Well around 830, after not feeling contractions at all I started feeling them pretty good. I wasnt sure if it was just my epidural wearing off or I was getting closer. After going back and forth, called the nurse in and baby was close to coming. Got anethesia in to up my epidural a bit and got ob to come back. After only 30 minutes of pushing, Abigail Jean was born 3/24 at 9:33 pm. She was 6lb even and 18.25 in. Unfortunately, I had some complications afterwards. After being monitored for a bit, I was losing too much blood and was having some hemorrhaging. So, I got sent to the OR at 4am for a D and C. Thankfully, that did the trick and all is good now. Definitely a scary experience, but we are in love with Abby Jean!
I haven't had the opportunity to participate much on this board due to issues I've consistently had with the app and due to the busyness of life in general but thought I would chime in and share my story.
After a change in plan (mainly due to the pandemic we're in) I had a successful VBAC on 4/20/20 (38 weeks, 5 days). Last minute, I chose to opt for a VBAC to lessen the recovery and hospital stay. I went into labor naturally at around 3am and went to the hospital around 8am. I was dilated to a 5 when admitted and by around 1:30pm I was complete at a 10 and began pushing (I had an epidural but felt all the pain when pushing). At 3:05 pm out came our 9# 6oz baby (ouch!). Needless to say, I'm in a little pain but so thankful the VBAC was successful and free of complications, other than tearing which is to be expected with that size baby. We are so blessed and thankful that he is here and healthy!
ETA: my previous delivery (June 2018) was a C-section so I had just planned on doing another C-section but chose VBAC after learning that baby was head down and I was a good candidate to try for VBAC.

Here is Tessa! She finally came 5 days late on May 5th. I went to my weekly doctors appointment where they did a NST and U/S to check on baby since I was past my due date. I was having regular contractions, was 3cm and 80% effaced, my fluid level was really high for being 40w5ds so they decided to send me to the hospital for an induction. We got to the hospital at around 1pm and since I was GBS positive was put on antibiotics for four hours before they started pitocin. Pitocin started around 4pm, I was comfortable until about 5:30 when they told me I could get my epidural at 6. By then contractions were unbearable. By the time the epi was placed and working on both sides the doctor came to check my cervix and break my water I was already 10cm. About 15 mins later Tessa was born at 7:42pm weighing 8lbs 7oz 21.5in long.
Congratulations @KFrob !!! Welcome, Tessa! I had GBS as well... so I’m feeling your pain on the antibiotics. Glad everything went smooth and baby is here and healthy!
@KFrob we are getting into a routine finally since the one month growth spurt, so I’m thankful for that. Our little guy gave us a 4 hour stretch of sleep last night 🤣 it’s amazing the way you look at things when you’re a parent. Lol
