@ziggymama06 I'm washing my hands more than normal, but I'm not sure I can do much more. It is concerning that the research and evidence on in utero effects are so small and limited to a Chinese study I will try to avoid super congested areas (so I'll avoid going into the city for the time being). I am a little nervous that it's about to be spring break and people will travel for spring break and then bring something back to campus...
I'm also worried about the coronovirus. I live on WA state and am a dialysis nurse, of course the first person to die in WA was a dialysis patient. I had the flu back in February and almost ended up in the hospital so I am quite worried to catch something. My husband has severe asthma as well. We have a contingency plan at work but there is no way to know who has been exposed at this point.
Next week we are supposed to travel to Hawaii via the Seattle airport. I have an MD appointment before we go, but I didn't purchase trip insurance because honestly .. what are the chances of something like this happening?
The studies from China are somewhat of a relief. Right now it seems as though this virus is not as dangerous as SARS or MERS for pregnant women.
I would be more concerned about a supply chain disruption due to consumer panic and/or global economic crisis, than the bug itself at this point. Thank goodness it doesn't seem to be too bad really, comparable to flu it would seem to me in terms of fatalities, and knock wood no fetal harm to preggos. We just don't know I guess, but not going to lie - I am grateful to be home from work. I was in customer service, out in the public with foot traffic all day, and sitting down face to face with clients. Plus DD in daycare. So from that perspective, the timing couldn't have been better for us to come home.
I have some normal errands I have been putting off, but delivery is sounding like a great idea right about now! Lol
@BusinessWife I agree about the supply chain disruption more than anything. Once items are out of stock, I'm sure it will be awhile until they get restocked, especially since we get a lot of our items from China. I get the panic because this is new, we don't know much about it, and there is no vaccine, but there is also nothing that we can do about it besides doing our part, which doesn't mean as much when others are not doing there's.

Hey, I don't shame anyone for prepping to a certain extent. I live in the Atlanta suburbs, we have 2 confirmed cases here, and two pending but likely cases. I share their zip code. These people all live in the same household and the source was a man who traveled home from Italy. From what details we know about how this family behaved when they were asymptomatic there will be more to come. This is a HUGE area with MANY people.
We have committed to keeping 2 weeks of groceries on hand at all times. We have also stocked a couple extra cases of water and some back up toilet paper and pet food. Nothing extreme happening here. While this all unfolds we will avoid traveling to major shopping centers, especially during busy times. We will stay home if we are feeling ill ourselves, and we will wash our hands first thing first upon returning home from being out and about. Stay about 6 feet away from people who appear to be unwell in public. Don't touch your face while you're in public. If you have outbreak in your area consider not eating out as fast food and restaurant workers will likely not have the sick time and resources to miss work if they aren't feeling well. Honestly, that's about the best anyone can do right now.
I'm not extremely concerned about getting it, I am more concerned about general panic. I don't believe we are any more at risk as pregnant people unless we have underlying health conditions that affect our heart and lungs. There have been 0 child under 10 and infant fatalities world wide at this point. Just be informed and take universal precautions. We can't control other people who aren't being careful and mindful but we can control ourselves.
I’m definitely anxious because of all the unknowns about how it affects pregnant women and fetal outcomes. I’m washing my hands like a madwoman and will start working from home if it begins spreading here in Texas.
I want to keep a level head, but there’s a constant drum beat of conversation about it in my office because I’m in the travel industry and the virus is going to have a huge impact on our business.
There's not a ton of research yet at this point, but what is coming out is that pregnant women aren't at additional risk for developing the virus and for some reason children have been spared. Someone in the county next to mine has an unconfirmed case (we find out tomorrow morning I guess) and that makes me a little more nervous, but other than hand washing and sanitizing there's not much you can do. My office just emailed that we will receive more guidance tomorrow on how to deal with the virus at work (likely as a result of the potential case in the region). As a traveling therapist, I can do my part by not bringing toys into homes, alerting families if I'm not feeling well (especially for my medically fragile kiddos), and washing/sanitizing my hands when I enter or leave a location. Which...I was already doing because it's cold/flu season. We have enough cat food to last the month and I'll buy extra rice and nonperishables tomorrow when I go grocery shopping. At this point, I'm more concerned about a 14 day quarantine than I am about actually getting sick.
@RedBaramid thats great your sister gets to adopt her!
@rivercitynik i dont think you can have too much on your registry. I only question peoples registrys when they start registering for laundry detergent and special dish soap for infants. As far as inviting friends who can't make it i say invite them anyways. I would feel excluded if i wasnt even if the person thought i wouldn't be able to come. Inviting them doesn't seem gift grabby to me.
Doctor checked husband. He said he thinks its a cyst And may clear up on its own. But to be safe he wants to get an ultrasound done. So we have to wait until the 17th for that.
Also husband after we talked texted his sister. He told her everyone was told not to come to our house with out permission and that she had been Told no about the gifts. He told her thanks for the gifts and we appreciate them but we said no for a reason. He also told her a gift doesn't make up for the years of excluding or ignoring our kids.
Well he told it to her blunt but nice. He didnt bullshit with her. His sister went off. Tried to blame us for her choosing to see our son twice in 5 years. She then went on a rant that she cant afford to buy my daughter a gift for every year shes missed. We never told her to. We just said no to a gift for our son because its not equal. She then went on the say shes not going to pay for shipping and she will drop off whatever she wants. Hahaha the husband blocked her at that point.
If we tell you to not come to our home without permission you have 0 right at all to just show up. So shes blocked now. I was really surprised he had enough to block her. She was lying right to him about events he was around for. It was really strange.
And I'm sick again. So is my son. Pretty sure we caught colds again.
As far as coronavirus goes people are panicking here. My walmart is sold out of lysol in almost all forms, hand soap, and bleach, also no hand sanitizer either. They are even out of cans of chicken noodle soup. I'm trying to stay hyrdrated but being sick for the second time in like 2 weeks I've lost 7 pounds.

Re: accountant, yea, I'm glad we have them to tell us what more we need. We sent them a spreadsheet with the various types of business expenses we had, so what I'm hoping is we gave them enough info. I'm worried they won't know how to classify stuff (is this a consumable supply, inventory, stuff purchased specifically for a customer and immediately refunded by them) because we didn't know what all they needed so we would have to go through all our receipts again.
We had a hard time classifying stuff in TurboTax because all their business stuff and examples fall under a stereotypical office business with examples like copy paper and ink and desk chairs. And our business is not that, so it was hard to figure out where we put stuff.
I'm always in tears during taxes. Not so far this time!
<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020794/uploads/editor/qg/ujyaqs085f7w.gif" alt=""> I have laundry soap on my registry.

Like many of you, I'm much more worried about the supply chain disruption and general panic than I am the virus itself. I do wish I better understood the pregnancy risk and whether our "weakened immune systems" (how is this my second pregnancy and I still don't actually know the specifics of what that means and when it's relevant) present a meaningful increased risk. I'm washing hands, taking my work computer home each night, and plan to get an extra month's supply of my thyroid meds this weekend. Not much else.
I am struggling a bit with whether I should still go on our planned trip to Chicago next weekend. We're just playing the wait and see game at this point.
Can anyone explain the toilet paper thing to me? I kind of understand that cleaning, cold and flu, and immune-boosting products would get bought, but toilet paper? I don't get it! It doesn't cause diarrhea as far as I know!
@coldlife just extra toilet paper on hand as an essential item that if you couldn't leave home for 2 weeks you wouldn't want to run out of. I mean, I'm sure we could make due without it, right? But it's not something you'd want to do, especially if you were sick (even if you were only mildly sick).
I think I've mentioned in a few places that I'm planning a big event/conference and for the past few days we've been in deep discussions about whether or not we need to cancel. I'm not sure where we'll land, but even though I'm not naturally alarmist, spending so much time talking about it, hearing about it, watching the news, etc. has me a little freaked out. It also feels a little hard to figure out how much of it is something to actually be genuinely concerned about. It sounds like we are all doing the right things, but I've definitely been inspired to stock up on some pantry items just to be safe.
Totally unrelated, anyone watching the Love is Blind reunion? I've gotten hooked over the past few weeks
@rivercitynik i didnt watch the reunion yet! Ive seeb all the other episodes. Planned on watching it tonight once my kids are in bed.

If they said they did he could have asked for questions on the dates and finally told his potential partners. I know I have always asked men their stances on it because my sister is gay and I wont be with someone that is against supporting lgbtq. I completely agree that Carlton should have been honest about his sexuality from the start! Him and diamond seemed like Such a great fit! I’m sure she would’ve came around to it without feeling - tricked into it?
I was more shocked that Kenny and Kelly hadn’t had sex or that she felt she didn’t have that chemistry? I’m pretty sure I could see the chemistry just watching lol From that moment I just had a feeling it was all for show at that point. Along with Jessica. Alll for show. I feel bad for Mark - he should’ve been able to make a real connection. I feel like Jessica used him as a rebound to Barnett’s rejection. As for Barnett and Amber... I predict a nasty divorce.
I’m sooo happy for Cameron and his wife! (I forget her name) they ooze love and it’s so sweet!!
At work we do something called breakfast club where someone from the group makes breakfast the first Friday of every month and we all rotate who does the cooking. Today's breakfast was glorious! Potato casserole, french toast casserole, breakfast burritos! It is just what this mama needed to get me going on this Friday!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day and a nice start to the weekend!
@charhar0820 I agree about carlton he should have told her right away
I think kelly is gonna end up alone. She friend zones all men. She isnt going to find a story book romance.
I felt bad for mark. Jessica wasted his time and she was totally using him as a rebound. I so agree about a furture divorce for Barnett and Amber.
I can't wait for a season two. I'm curious why nich lachey and his wife are the hosts. Him being a cheater is all i think of when they are on.

I'm stressed about daylight savings time and nap and bedtime with the kids. Bedtime has already been slipping and an extra hour later is going to run into my pregnant bedtime lol!
I'm also keeping tabs on coronavirus and undecided where I fall. I would really enjoy having DH home and get more uninterrupted family time for two weeks or so. Anything more than that and I know we'd all have cabin fever.
Happy Friday!!! 🤗 I am pretty tickled atm, among other things, being home this first week with my toddler, we removed a basket of stuffies and a basket of baby toys, swapping in a couple puzzles! I consolidated her board books for now as well onto three of the six cubbies, so I have three perfect little clear spots for more age-appropriate, Montessori ish toys. Whee! I expect it will be a gradual process getting her room ready not only for her to be sleeping in there fulltime, but also setting it up to accommodate more of the baby's things as well. But I can absolutely say that we are enjoying each step along the way... :)
We also started working on drinking from an open cup, and I have a few more fairly simple projects in mind around the house to start making it more toddler friendly, having her own things more accessible to her so she can be more independent etc. Fx we have enough time between now and August to make some progress with certain things to help make mommy's life a little easier before the baby gets here!
I've actually been a bit nervous, because I thought I was feeling a lot more already, and then things seem to have quieted down in there... :/ My next apt can't come soon enough!
@wife-and-mommy I'm also worried about daylight savings. For my own selfish reasons, I do not want to lose an hour of sleep and I'm also dreading the effect it will have on my little one.
@BusinessWife Same here! That's why I decided to use my doppler the other night. Then, of course, the next night I was feeling little movements again. I should've just been patient.
I'm glad it put your mind at ease tho ❤️@lachnessmomster Anything I feel these days is either super subtle, or full on cervix stabs. :/ I'm like, uhhh, are you really doing that baby? or is that my body being weird!???
@BusinessWife I feel movements so sporadically I cant predict them. This kid is all about being difficult. It's just super irregular now. I cant wait till later on when I will be begging for lesser movements, lol.
@ziggymama06 Next Wednesday, they will be doing a scan to check cervical length sonim all 🤷 Maybe we just check the HB at that point too, while we're at it... 👍
@ziggymama06 that’s so exciting! I’m patiently waiting for feel something but I know it could be weeks off. I had a quick appt today and they checked the heart on the Doppler and the midwife could hear the baby moving around but I couldn’t feel anything!
@BusinessWife im sorry you’re feeling anxious! Jw.. is it normal to get cervical length checked at some point? Ftm clueless about everything over here...
Wooo, what a catch up. Ive been trying to be focused on what I’m doing and leaving my phone put away (thanks to @BusinessWife and lent). Which means I’m sooooo far behind here.
@BusinessWife I was expecting to feel more by now, too. So I am suspecting this pregnancy is also an anterior placenta which dampens the feelings. We’ll see on the 20th if I’m right. I had it with my daughter and it feels very much the same as her vs my son.
Add me to the not feeling much boat. I'm almost 19 weeks and I thought that I would be feeling so much more. Sometimes I think I'm feeling something, but then I don't know if I am making it up in my head or not. I won't see the baby until the 19 of March, so I'm just trying to not stress it. I also relate it to me weighing more this time around and that's why I'm not feeling much.

Re: daylight savings. It's never been a huge issue for us. We put them to bed at the same time, and they continue to wake up around the same time we do.
If you're afraid it will be an issue, what I've heard works well is to start a few days early adjusting everything by 15 minutes. Wake up, bed, naps all 15 minutes later. And then 15 minutes more the next day, so by the time it rolls around, they're adjusted to that hour.
@BusinessWife I'm glad you are going in on Wednesday so only a few more days. Since I'm switching practices to the MWs, is that a normal procedure at the 16w appt? I was just assuming they would listen to the doppler and chat with me? Like @fitandnerdy I have no clue what to expect.
@fitandnerdy Glad you had a good appt today and got to hear baby's HB!

My baby’s movements have been pretty sporadic too. I think it’s normal this early on. For me it seems to depend on where the baby is hanging out in my uterus. Some days it feels like he’s stretching like a starfish and other days I only feel super subtle tapping that could just be gas.
I didn’t even feel DS move until 18 weeks and it was a few weeks after that until I felt him consistently. But, on the 12 week ultrasound he was doing backflips so I knew he was moving and grooving in there even if I didn’t feel it.
@ziggymama06 It is not a typically normal thing to have a scan to check cervical length. That usually happens if you have a history of cervical problems or contractions, etc. Typically, you will just have a doppler and see the dr or MW.
I've been feeling the baby quite a bit but I felt both my babies very early. DH acctualy felt them the other day too when they must have done a back flip or something because that movement was huge. Other days I haven't felt much but at this point they still have a lot of room to hide in.
@BusinessWife Have you heard of Lovevery they have a montessori toy subscription service. I think it's not worth the money for the subscription but they are good for ideas of what kinds of toys to get at each age range.
