  • @babyfoxden10...  you are going to give me a panic attack...  I always count how many weeks along I am, I never thought about how FEW weeks are LEFT!
  • Loading the player...
  • I posted in appointments too, but my midwife is moving, and I am a bit upset.  There is no one new at the practice at this time.
  • @babyfoxden10 I am sorry, that is a lot all in one day too. Also Home Depot better be giving you some money back, they did for me when they messed up my flooring.
  • @pirateduck have you met anyone else at the practice that you can transfer to?
  • @babyfoxden10 Hugs. I'm sorry so much just went wrong at once. That's always hard, but especially when planning for baby's arrival. I've had huge house stuff happen late in both my prior pregnancies and I remember how overwhelming and anxiety causing it was. I hope furniture comes in quickly-ish and blinds too.

@pirateduck Also hugs. Due to house stuff with my first I had to change care away from my favorite midwife with my first at 31 weeks. It did suck. I hope they hire someone else super quick who is amazing that you hit it off with right away!

  • gah @babyfoxden10 that's a good reminder that if I want the nursery painted I need to get on it! and a rocking chair! And calling day cares! I keep thinking I have more time than I do.
  • @babyfoxden10 it's okay to feel overwhelmed! We closed on our house about 3 weeks before DD was born, and it was a lot to deal with all at once. Everything will work itself out, and 16 weeks is still quite a ways away. You'll be fine!
  • I regularly see an OB at the practice that I like a lot.  The midwife taught the centering class I’m in and she is probably my favorite that I’ve met, I felt connected on a more personal level as we are relatively close in age and she also recently had her first child and had fertility testing/treatments etc so she just gets it.  They are having an OB that I have never met take over our class, so there is a plan in place.  I just hope I like this OB.  It’s probably good that I meet her anyway since we just get whoever is on call when the big day comes.
  • @mokay19 yay for deciding on your pump! I was just able to see my options on Aeroflow yesterday and the prices.  I was planning to get the S1 (I exclusively pumped last time and had 2 S2's and and S9 so figured it was time to try the S1), but it was $135 for the "upgrade fee" through my insurance and you I get the pump on buy buy baby with a 20% off coupon for like $160 so I opted for the free S2, and I'll just buy the S1 later out of pocket if I end up wanting another pump.

DD has had a cough the past 2 weeks.  It started with a cold around Christmas and then mostly got better but had a lingering cough which I didn't think much of.  Yesterday morning it was worse and then daycare messaged yesterday afternoon that they were concerned because it was so bad they thought she was going to throw up.  I called the pediatrician and they said as long as she doesn't have a fever, is eating and sleeping fine to just give her some medicine and no need to be seen.  So of course last night she didn't eat any dinner (which isn't wildly abnormal for her, some nights she barely eats and some nights she is a pig), but then she also didn't sleep worth a darn.  I've asked daycare to keep me updated today, and I guess I may have to call the dr again or get her in the afternoon.  Hopefully some motrin and cough medicine will help and we can power through.
  • @pirateduck I have to cross my legs and hold my lower pelvis area. I always end up peeing myself and she kicks my bladder constantly. Welcome to motherhood, it’s super glamorous.
  • @rox7777 ditto, I'm always afraid of peeing myself when I sneeze.
  • My main focus when I sneeze is on doing a kegel...

  • @rox7777 I've legit had to wear pads because this cough is making me pee myself. Motherhood is super glamorous.
  • @ruby696 Ughhh. I had the flu and now I have a lingering cough. I’ve been wearing pads for two months now because I pee myself so often. It’s a real treat. I even do all the tricks, lean all the way forward when peeing, press on bladder, cross the legs. Nope. Peeing myself. Peed myself in the car the other day because MH slammed on the brakes. I should have had all my kids in my early 20s when my pelvic floor was still awesome.

Is that what it is @rox7777? I had DD at 35 (vaginal). I blame her. TBH, the idea of a vaginal birth for the twins terrifies me because of the damage to my pelvic floor. I don't want another c-section, but if it's necessary...🤷‍♀️

    ETA: spelling
  • @ruby696 Saaaaame! DS1 was vaginally and DS2 was emergency CS. I have the option for either, but with the way this pregnancy has gone on my pelvic floor, I’m slightly scared to consider the damage. It just doesn’t go back the same after a certain age and I’m tired of peeing myself.
  • @rox7777 after DD was born, it took almost two years for me to be able to do jumping jacks without peeing. I had myself to where I rarely had an issue, but now I'm a hot mess. I can't imagine two more coming through will do me any favors.
  • @shamrocandroll Let this be a PSA re: the hazards of childbirth. 😆
  • But really though. Someone needs to write a real pregnancy book. Screw the flowery topics like breathing through contractions and pain meds. Give us the nitty gritty. What it’s like to push out your placenta, the tummy massages, accidentally catching something on your vagina stitches and peeing/pooping yourself.
  • Good to know @pourmeanothermocktail. I guess I'll just wait and see it babies are head down or not, and go from there. My pelvic floor is ruined anyway.
  • @rox777 @ruby696 Just coming here to agree with @pourmeanothermocktail that pregnancy and the weight/pressure, the relaxin separating your hips, and much more effect your pelvic floor. I do highly suggest a pelvic floor PT postpartum, and I'm sure during pregnancy too. I finally went to mine when my daughter was 2 because I kept peeing myself. It was sooo helpful, not only with that issue, but with my constipation and it actually made my cycles even more regular and helped my posture.

  • When I played soccer between DD and this pregnancy I would go through 1-2 pads per game from peeing while running. Not glamorous, but such is life lol
  • My second was a c section and a 7lb premie. This one likes to hang out right behind my CS scar and kick me in the bladder right when I have to sneeze. It’s a trap. There is no pelvic floor once you sign up to have kids. Just buy the pads and call it a day.

I was cleaning out my kitchen, and found these the other day. I wanted to recommend them to first time moms who have never experienced the pain of your milk coming in for the first time after the baby is born. I know I was not prepared for it. It's about 2-3 days of engorgement and feeling so uncomfortable though. These helped me through it, you can put them in the freezer to help with engorgement pain, but later in if you get a clogged milk duct or mastitis, you can also microwave them and it helps with that too.

  • Could I get comfortable last night to actually have restful sleep? Absolutely not.
Did my cat throw up, in what sounded like, every single room overnight? You betcha.
Currently delaying getting out of bed to deal with it.

Ugh, that's awful. I'm sorry. I tend to fly out of bed when I hear animal or human gagging or retching. I hate cleaning it up after the fact...but it means that I get a shot of adrenaline every time, and if anyone has a stomach bug or whatnot in the house-I generally get no sleep as it takes like 90 minutes for me to come down and fall back asleep after the adrenaline.

Ick. I hope the mess wasn't so bad, and you can get a nap and/or early bed tonight

  • @heatherlynn321 I give my 5 stars to those booby ice packs too! I was so under prepared for nursing DD. I amazon primed a lot of stuff (including those) while in the hospital and DD and DH were sleeping. I also should have been sleeping but had so much anxiety that I hadn't prepared for anything.
I just bought some last chance nursing tops (warmer weather) from latched mama.
  • @pourmeanothermocktail
I’m usually diligent about cleaning up after her but I just wanted to get some sleep. My cat has irritable bowel syndrome and throws up often (unfortunately). She’s been having more episodes lately. Usually it’s just some salvia but this time she couldn’t digest any of her food so she threw it all up.

She’s feeling better now and I hope tonight will be more restful 🤞🏾

    @drkoyya Hope you’re having a better night!

DD is going through some terrible sleep regression and it’s exhausting and awful. We are traveling cross-country next week and it seems like the worst possible age to travel (1.5). STMs want to reassure me that we will survive two? I am so excited for this baby but on nights like tonight don’t see how we will even survive one!

    ETA fix typos.
  • @drkoyya My old cat used to throw up so much but no vet ever mentioned IBS. I wonder if that was something he could have had? Hopefully you got sleep tonight!

@adventuresawait2 I'm definitely worried about surviving with 2, but so many parents before us have, right? DD has never been a sleeper but ever since putting her in a toddler bed she'll generally just play in her room quietly in the dark instead of scream for us. Eventually her and baby will share a room though so I'm worried about her keeping baby up. We definitely always go into survival mode when traveling when it comes to getting DD to sleep (she's not a car sleeper either). Rules of the road don't apply at home, right?
  • @jrouge12 oh for sure. Just easy to feel worried when tired. Appreciate the encouragement! And great to hear that your daughter will play quietly. I was wondering about one of those ready to wake clocks - we inherited one but haven’t tried it yet because I think I read the need to be 2 before they get the whole stoplight thing? Not sure. Our kiddos will share a room once we move the baby out of our room, too, so definitely interested in other people’s experiences in that.

Agree 100 percent that no rules apply when traveling - you do what you have to do! For us that includes letting her use the binkie during the day.
  • @adventuresawait2 I have two terrible sleepers. DS1 doesn’t sleep through the night without prescription medication. He’s 6 and didn’t get that until last year. DS2 is 4 and doesn’t sleep through the night. So I had a newborn and a 2 year old that both didn’t sleep. Honestly, the first year wasn’t so bad. I was often able to get them to nap during the same time and figured out a routine of sorts. It’s harder now because they’re school age and need routine and sleep, but back then we could kind of just wing it.
  • A couple days late, but this post I saw this morning is still timely 😂
