This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Re: IF Testing and Treatment Week of 11/18-11/25/19
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole, trigger shot, IUI, progesterone post-O
How are things going?: I'm 11 days post-IUI and I don't feel any different than usual at this point in my cycle(I know symptoms don't usually show up this early, though so this is probaby just me trying to protect myself from being crushed by a BFN). Pretty doubtful that this worked. I stopped temping because my pre-O temps were all over the place and I wanted to cut down on the BSC.
Any questions?: Not right now.
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? My Tieks are the best shoe purchase I've ever made. I wear them almost every day and they're so comfortable! My second-best splurge was on 12 weeks of voice lessons a few years ago. I learned SO much and I my vocal coach has also become a friend.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Beta tomorrow, BFN today at 13 dpo... IVF consult on Thursday morning
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI #2
How are things going?: annoyed with my temp rising above 98.3 the last three days after 3 days of decent drops. I knew better, but I wanted to know for sure before my beta tomorrow so I used the last test I had. It was a digital, so no guess work.
Any questions?: What should I discuss with my RE at my IVF consult besides meds and timeframe? We just need to do the SA this week and then I guess we deal with insurance. I already know we will do PGS testing due to repeated loss.
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? I’m gonna say all of the features on my car - heated leather seats, remote starter, leather, navigation, Sirius XM... let’s be honest though, it’s a Civic and not a luxury car. I spend up to 15 hours a week in it and it needs to be comfy. I’m at 120,000 miles in 6 years, so I use it a ton.

@NYTino24 Really sorry about the bfn. Be kind to yourself right now. Hopefully you get your consult soon and there will be no delays moving forward.
My car is sort of the opposite. I was just joking the other day that it is now old enough to have its own drivers license. And has 210 000 on it. City driving and not that much of it.
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, MFI (low morph)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): IVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF, Gonal-F and Menopur
How are things going?: We did our first round of shots last night. DH could not go back in for the refresher, so I had to do it alone. He was so excited last night that he rushed ahead. I had to slow him down and make sure he did not miss any steps. They went smoothly though. Thursday is the first check up.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? My car is probably the most expensive. But recently it was our living room sofa and all the renos that we did on the house. I tend not to do big splurges on myself.
@NYTino24 Ugh I'm so sorry, friend. Keeping you in my thoughts today. Hoping the RE consult comes quickly!
@nitnat007 Glad the shots went well!!! Keeping my FX for you!!
Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): RE appointment on 12/9
How are things going?: I avoided thinking too much about all of the work I have to do to prepare for my RE visit this weekend, so that's a Today Problem
I realized this weekend that I am blissfully unbothered by being in the TWW right now. I know the odds of being KU are so freaking slim that it's pretty much keeping the BSC at bay for right now. It's still early in the TWW, so that could change, but I'm pretty sure my brain has gotten the message thankfully.
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? I would say it's probably my house. We spent more money on it than we had planned to, and I'm not sure it was worth it. We paid for the location more than anything else, and now we kind of regret that. MH has started floating the idea of "maybe this isn't our forever house." We both agree we might change our minds about that topic if we ever have a LO, because part of the reason we splurged is because it's a fantastic location to raise a family, but right now it's just a constant reminder of what we can't have.

@nitnat007 Yay for starting shots! Glad to hear there were no issues. GL with your checkup on Thursday!
@mvt2003 Glad the TWW isn’t messing with you yet. Hope the BSC stays away for the rest of it too!
Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI, one blocked tube
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW.. bfn today at 12 dpo (which I expected)
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): It’s appointment day, guys!! We will be getting all of our test results from the last 6 weeks and deciding on a plan of action.
How are things going?: I’m a bit nervous but also just ready to move forward now. I didn’t make any plans for the rest of the day so I can cope with whatever happens in the comfort of my own home.
Any questions?: Not yet, but I’m sure I will after!
GTKY: Probably our wedding planner.. but she was worth every penny. She kept us organized and I had very little stress on the wedding day because she took care of everything.TTC since 9/2018
10/19- First RE visit
2/20- DH had surgery for bilateral varicoceles

@mvt2003 the pre-appointment paperwork is such a pain, hope it doesn’t take too long!
@emeraldduchess FX for you!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW starts tomorrow
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI
How are things going?: my IUI is scheduled for tomorrow morning! I’m excited and nervous, having all kinds of weird emotions about this. I had one mature follicle and 2 that were too small. One concern is my lining was thin, only 5.2, so they put me on estrogen suppositories (they are blue! Blue like a smurf, omg it is kind of funny!). I’m a little worried about the lining impacting the outcome but I guess we just move forward and see. I also wonder if maybe this had been an Unidentified issue that was also impacting our ability to conceive naturally.
Any questions?: not right now
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? Remodeling our kitchen. We got what we wanted and didn’t worry too much about price. We both love it, totally worth it! Our house was built in 1937 and it had never really been updated so it really needed to be done!
@misshelen86 sorry for your BFN. It’s on Thursday morning at 6:30. I guess that’s a perk of already being in treatment. They also had a phone conference available 15 minutes before my students go home, but I chose the face to face meeting.
@ellieemc26 Fingers crossed that the IUI works!

How are things going?: They are okay. Better than last week, for sure -which I will take as a win! I go Friday morning for my monitoring appointment to see how my follies are cookin'. I'm thinking the IUI will be Sunday or Monday!
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? Hmmmm..... Probably the North Face jacket I bought myself a few years ago. I've always wanted one but they are so expensive. I treated myself one Christmas and I love it so much! But soon it will be the addition we are going to put onto our house!!
@emeraldduchess I miss taking voice lessons! It's actually something I thought about starting back up again, even if it's just once a month that I go. Singing is my favorite thing to do
@NYTino24 I'm sorry about the BFN... I think it's good you're making a list of things to discuss with your RE the next time you go in. And I agree that your fancy car features are a must for how much you drive!
@nitnat007 So glad the shots went well! I think it's funny YH was just so excited that was rushing, but thankfully you were there to remind him to sloooooow his roll! Things are becoming really real for you!
@mvt2003 I'm glad you're keeping the BSC at bay! Keep busy and keep trying not to think about it
@misshelen86 ooooo yay for results day!! I can't wait to hear about everything you talk about and what plan(s) you all come up with. Keep us updated!
@ellieemc26 That is a thin lining... I'm glad they put you on the estrogen and I hope they do the trick. Will they do another u/s tomorrow before the IUI to see if it worked?

@misshelen86 Fx for your appointment. It was very smart taking the day off to just be afterwards. Let us know how it goes
@ellieemc26 Oh gosh this is so awesome! Good luck on your IUI. Just know that you and your RE are doing everything possible to ensure a successful cycle! FX!
Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF - Progesterone, Estradiol & baby Aspirin
How are things going?: Had some tech issues at work and it really makes me miss my old job. My boss wasn't always pleasant, but he was so good with tech problems we never had to worry. Anyway, they are sort of resolved. Enough that I could get caught up on work. Other than that, I had a lovely relaxing weekend. DH and I watched The Tick while I knitted some slippers for Christmas. It was also a beautiful sunny day and I had quite a nirvana-type moment where I was at peace; knitting in the sun while watching a ridiculous cartoon
Any questions?: Nothing right now
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? I guess it would be my gaming computer. DH and I went in on it together about 8 months into our relationship. It is still going so not too bad of an investment
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): IVF - another week of BCP then we start stims
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF, ER tentatively scheduled between Dec 6-9
How are things going?: Well I never did start spotting, which of course made me question my entire cycle and whether O really happened when I thought it did, etc. I took a couple HTPs, all of which were obviously BFN but that was last week and now 3 days into BCP I'm so crampy and uncomfortable and still feeling like I ought to keep peeing on sticks because I won't actually get my period now that I've started the pill. I was warned that my withdrawal bleed when I stop BCP and start stims might be awful so I'm dreading that.
Any questions?: Not at this point.
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? Other than our house/renovations, we spent a lot of money on our photographer for our wedding but it was well worth it. And we splurged on our honeymoon and have zero regrets.

@kpearse99 Yay for IUI coming up! I am always hopeful mine will fall on a weekend so I won't miss work. Is that how you feel?
@elliemc79 What meds were you on this cycle? I had a thin lining on clomid (a common side-effect), so they switched me to letrozole. My lining was still not as thick as they wanted when I made the med change, so I talked to my doctor about whether or not it could be an underlying issue for me. He said he didn't think so, and basically said that my follicles weren't big enough to excrete that amount of estrogen I would need for a thick lining. So we're upping my meds this time and hoping for big follies and lots of good estrogen! FX for your IUI!
@misshelen86 Yay for your appointment! Please keep us posted!
@emeraldduchess I'm sorry you're not feeling optimistic about this cycle. *Hugs*
@NYTino24 I'm so sorry for the BFN.
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, blocked tube
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole, gonal-f (higher dosage, on CD 3-5), trigger, IUI
How are things going?: I just had my baseline ultrasound this morning. I didn't expect it until tomorrow, but when I called to tell them I started this weekend, they asked if I could go ahead and come in, so I did. My uterus looked "nice and quiet" so I should start meds tomorrow.
Any questions?: No questions right now.
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? My car was a splurge for me. I have never had a car payment before, and never had a car that was remotely new. When we bought my car, it was 2 years old, which seemed so insanely new to me. It had all kinds of "fancy" features that I was not used to. I don't regret it at all. I love that car, and will be sad when I have to get something new.
@meri-mac that nirvana moment sounds lovely!! I need to find more of those

@misshelen86 I will be starting progesterone as well. The nurse said I will have two days of overlap with both.
@shoogapoff Not an area that gets a lot of complimenting
@NYTino24 Sorry again for the bfn, glad your IVF appointment is just a few days away. I’d ask the RE about the borderline antibodies & whether you’ll need any treatment to address the potential issue before or after transfer.
@nitnat007 So cute that YH was that excited to get the shots going! Hope all looks perfect at your follow-up this week.
@mvt2003 The paperwork is a beast initially. You can do it!!!
@misshelen86 FX that your appointment yields so much helpful info with all of your results!
@ellieemc26 Good luck with the IUI tomorrow! I’d definitely ask them to check my lining again just to be sure all is perfectly ‘aligned’ for the best outcome. Praying the estrogen did the trick for you!
@kpearse99 Yay for this next IUI. I was so relieved for you when I read that you’ll be doing Crinone. As others said, that’s the super pricey stuff & very potent. (I picked up just one tube before I realized my insurance wouldn’t cover it. One day’s worth was over $40!) FX it works wonders for you!
@meri-mac So glad to hear that this weekend was lovely & relaxing for you. That does sound like a sublime moment. That’s exactly how it should be during this TWW!♥️
@kiki047 So sorry that AF never showed & now you’re feeling all uncomfortable. That stinks. But so happy for you that things are moving so quickly now!
@shoogapoff FX that this IUI cycle is it!🤞🏽A “nice & quiet” uterus sounds good.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO *but my body hasn’t gotten the message that it’s time to let go of the last cycle*
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Totally unsure. The new RI said if this past cycle didn’t work that my next step would be to do a uterine biopsy right around ovulation, so we’d be TTA. But I have a call with my RE this afternoon & I want to know what she thinks is the next best step. Also, my upcoming work travel may put a wrench in any plans at all and we may end up benched for the next 2 cycles if AF doesn’t show up ASAP.
How are things going?: Just blah. I ate a lot of sugar & drank a lot of alcohol this weekend. I feel like crap today. Mentally & physically exhausted. The reality hit with this last cycle that if we really can’t get anything to implant that there may be no point in continuing with IUIs or continuing to push our insurance to approve IVF.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? It was definitely our wedding. I tried to do a beautiful budget wedding on my own but everything costs so much here that it just wasn’t possible. I ended up spending double my budget even though I cut costs everywhere. Not sure it was worth it, as I still wasn’t happy with my wedding planner, photographer, or my hair & makeup. But overall the day was beautiful & my besties said it was like something out of a movie. So there’s that.
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained, 1% morph
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WT scrape my ute for a biopsy ha
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): BC for 30 days, then lupron and stim meds for the biopsy/mock transfer
How are things going?: in the IF world, fine. Personally, this may be the hardest day of my life. DH weighed Pinecone last night and he's lost 40g of weight over the course of the past week (from 300 to 260g) so it's time to say goodbye. DH has a business trip tomorrow through Thursday and thankfully they could get us in this afternoon. DH didn't want to wait until Thursday afternoon or Friday. I've never had to put a pet down before. Lots of tears last night and this morning but we gave him his last little roam in our living room. We're going to miss him.
Any questions?: No

@inthewoods23 I am so so so sorry, my friend. My heart is with you right now. It is NOT an easy thing to do, say goodbye to a pet. They are our families and our best friends and have been there through so much. My heart is aching for you and I am tearing up thinking about the pain and sadness you are feeling. I lost my first dog a year and a half ago (He passed just before we got there to say our goodbyes) and it was the hardest thing I had to deal with. Know that Pinecone knows how much you love him and that he knows how amazing you made his little life. You filled it with so much joy, love and happiness and gave him the best life possible.

I try my best not to post here out of respect, especially in this thread, but I just needed to say I'm so incredibly sorry, @inthewoods23. In my mind, Pinecone was the TTGP mascot, and I'm so sad to hear about his passing. Saying goodbye is the absolute hardest part of having a pet, and I hope the happy memories get you through this painful time. Sending you love and internet stranger hugs!

Also agree that he was the TTGP mascot.
@mvt2003 oh man, so I understand what you’re saying about stats. Even my coworkers who have gone through IF and IVF don’t understand. They’re all like, “Be positive!” Um no, statistics don’t lie - certain beta levels, temps, blood test, etc. are pretty definitive. The fact that like 110,000 million sperm couldn’t do the trick in the first IUI and a 25 mm follicle gave me nada doesn’t have me feeling confident at all. Keep your chin up.

@NYTino24 I’m so sorry for the BFN❤️
@nitnat007 that’s cute that he was so excited. But I’m sure it wasn’t cute at the time haha. Glad all went well!
@mvt2003 I hope you get done what you need to for the RE appt! I hate when I have stuff like that weighing in the back of my mind. I’m also hoping the BSC will be kept at bay this cycle but I’m not overly optimistic. I’m glad it’s working for you so far!
@misshelen86 I hope your appointment brings you some peace! I can’t wait to hear about it!
@ellieemc26 good luck tomorrow!
@kpearse99 so glad you are feeling better! Grow follies grow!
@meri-mac your weekend really does sound so relaxing and wonderful! I’m glad the work issues have resolved enough, I hate feeling behind like that
@kiki047 that’s so weird that you never started spotting. I would feel the same as you about peeing on sticks. If you think it would help your peace of mind I’d go for it.
@shoogapoff hopefully the quiet is your uterus resting up to do its thing this cycle!
@keikilove I hope AF comes soon so that you don’t end up being benched for 2 cycles. I also hope you get an answer on a good path forward that you are happy with! Thinking of you ❤️
@inthewoods23 I am so sorry about pinecone ❤️ You guys gave him a great life and he was so loved. You know we loved him too! Make sure you come back here if you need to vent/distract yourself/whatever you need, especially while your H is gone.
Diagnosis (if you've been): elevated prolactin

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): RE visit
How are things going?: It is what it is... first IUI with OBGYN failed. First local RE appointment tomorrow on CD3 and let's see if they can do an IUI for me this cycle.
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What’s the biggest splurge you’ve ever spent money on? Was it worth it? probably gonna be my RE appointments lol... but in all seriousness whenever I think of buying designer bags/pretty shoes now I just talk to myself that I have to save for future IVF cycles.

Update re: my appointment. It’s long, so I’ll put in a spoiler.
For my blocked tube, we will be repeating my HSG next week and then if it shows the same result, my options are to ignore it or to go for a laparoscopy to investigate it further and potentially fix it depending on what she finds. There is a wait list of 2-3 months for surgery, but we have to wait a few months for DH’s next SA. After we discussed the risks and benefits of surgery vs ignoring it, I think it makes sense to have the surgery.
We were also given the option to go straight for IVF, but I would rather fix any underlying issues first. We did register for IVF, so if DH’s numbers haven’t improved we will go straight to IVF with ICSI in a few months. If his numbers improve, we can switch from IVF to try IUI first.
I’m a bit overwhelmed by all this information, but I’m feeling better now that we have a plan in place (even though it wasn’t the plan I was hoping for). My RE was very nice about making sure all my questions were answered, she allowed me to record our conversation, printed out all our results and drew a picture to help me understand everything. I really felt like she cared and was open to making a treatment plan that would be best for us. I appreciated that I didn’t feel like IVF was presented as our only option.

@misshelen86 I’m so glad to hear that your appointment went well, all things considered. I think your plan makes a lot of sense! I’m sorry that you still need to have another HSG. Will you know right away if it’s the same result?
Diagnosis (if you've been): Nothing official but SA showed 1% morph and I have an endometrial polyp that will need to be removed
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Testing cycle
How are things going?: Fine. I was supposed to call the RE’s office when I got a positive OPK to schedule bloodwork. Which is harder than it sounds because I use wondfos and I feel like it’s easier to see in hindsight which one is the true positive. But I could only follow their instructions so as soon as it was as dark as the control line I called. It looks like it might have been too early so they are having me repeat on Wednesday (last draw was Friday). I don’t know what that’s going to mean for 7 DPO bloodwork but I guess we will see. Since I will have at least 1 if not 2 more cycles before surgery I’m sure we can try again if I screwed it up. My LH levels were off the chart which about 2 seconds into my google search I was like
Just going to block that one out of my mind until my follow up.
Any questions? Nope
GTKY: When my grandfather died my grandma gave us all a little money and wanted us to spend it on ourselves, like something we would never buy otherwise. I decided to buy a small Gucci clutch. I would definitely say it was worth it, because it’s something I’ll always have and use. But this was when cell phones were the “flip phone” style and were much smaller so it was big enough at the time but not so much now 😂

@misshelen86 Wow,
that is a ton of information! I am so glad for you that you feel you have a couple of options, including IVF. It’s so wonderful that you get to have a choice in what path you take. It sounds like you have a very thorough & thoughtful RE too. Very nice.
