I wasn't sure if my H would think to do anything for me as a FTMom-to-be, but he knocked it out if the park. He cooked me a huge breakfast and tasty dinner of my choice, got me a lovely card and gift, let me pick out our Netflix movie, and gave me a foot massage. Pretty awesome experience for my first mother's day!
So I told SO I wanted this sweet yeasty kind of bread for MD, so he hauled the kids out of bed and out the door by 8 on Sunday, only to return 30 minutes later with the news that neither of the neighborhood bakeries had it and he'd take the kids to town and find a bakery with it.
This meant no breakfast until 11, but I had the whole morning to blissfully laze around without kids. Unexpected bonus!
And then when he took DD2 upstairs for nap, DD1 who theoretically is too old for naps (ha!) actually dozed off in my arms on the couch post lunch. I was a melty puddle of mom hormones. Sniff.
In the afternoon we went to an open air museum that had a special sheperd/beekeper/dog trainer/agricultural jobs day on site, so the kids could try different kinds of honey, card wool, make their own wool doughnut (...ok?), pet alllll the animals, make their own rope, the works. It was very fun.
Also, we 're coming to Boston in July (who here is from Boston? @marbellie?), so as a return to old MD traditions when we still lived in Jamaica Plain SO promised to get me an ice cream cake from JP Licks (Maple Butter Walnut... OMG so good) with an Elmo face on top (for her first MD, DD1 assembled an Elmo ice cream cake and we've stuck with it ever since).

DH made us a waffle breakfast and got me flowers. DD made me an adorable card in daycare. DD also rewarded me by pushing alllll of my buttons all day. It was a rainy day and she was being very creative in how she wanted to entertain herself, but unfortunately none of her chosen activities were mom approved. No, you can’t squeeze all the aquaphor out of the tube, pull the tissues/wipes out one by one just so you can crumple them up and throw them away, write on the wall with a water pen, play with a real pen (especially after the water pen thing), pull all the masking tape off of the roll... there’s probably more. But she surprised me by actually trying (and then liking!) crab cake for dinner and then wanting me to put her to bed (that’s been dad’s job ever since I started being sick in the evenings a couple months ago). So all in all it was a good day
Good morning ladies! Sounds like you all had a nice MD (even with @greenbean-2 's DD acting up a bit. LOL) I wasn't expecting anything at all but DH got me a "bump box" full of great stuff to pamper myself. So sweet! He also made me breakfast, but he does that every Sunday because he is the Breakfast King (waaaay better at cooking breakfast than I am.)
We had a busy, busy weekend. My FIL was in town Saturday working on the basement with DH (we are finishing it out to add two bedrooms, a bath, a bonus space and a storage space before DD gets here.) Then we spent most of yesterday afternoon planting three trees in our backyard, which was super fun but also totally exhausting. I could barely keep my eyes open to watch GoT, that's how tired I was! Great weekend all around though.
@greenbean-2 You're DD and mine had the same thought lol. I felt like all day she was testing me.
My Mother's day was alright, no gifts except for flowers and a really cute card DD made me in school. We went out to breakfast at burger king which I know isn't very mothers day like but they built a new indoor play ground and honestly it was so nice to enjoy the peace and have DD just go and play. I don't really like going out to eat on Mothers day cause it was gets so crowded so we just went to Boston Market and then to target. My mother in laws dinner was pretty expensive to begin with so I really didn't want to spend any more money.
I treated myself to ignoring the messy house cause I was still not feeling well.
DH left for a business trip Saturday so it was just me and DS (3 1/2) in the morning. He brought me my present to bed and insisted we eat breakfast (chocolate chip pie from my MiL) in bed. Then we came to spend the day/night with my parents. I went shopping with my mom and treated myself to comfy sandals for the summer, two new bras and some underwear for the ever-growing hips aaand a new purse. I’m very excited about all of it haha
Mothers day was okay. DH let sleep late and then we did our weekend errands. We went to my parents for a cookout lunch (weather sucked so we were all inside). I ate all the food. And strawberry cheesecake ummmmm. I'm likely going to be making another trip to the grocery store this week for cheesecake since there was only 1 slice left and that's not enough lol.
@galentine house shopping was stressful. Friday nights showing was beautiful but DH is concerned that the living room is small. I don't think it would be bad but do see his point. I still kind of love it and it's the first one where I haven't felt like 1 of the "kid" bedrooms was too small. The house next to MIL was beautiful but thankfully not functional for us (it could be made to be but since the price is really a lot more then we were looking, it's not an option). The second open house claimed a little work but turned out to need a LOT of work including new roof. It also wasn't officially a 4bed. It was a 3 with inlaw apartment in basement. Sorry, not giving a child a bedroom that has attached kitchen and private entrance 🙄
Spent the day, well, really the weekend, puttering around the nursery because not having anything done in there was giving me bad anxiety*.
We now have a completed and secured dresser and moved the crib to where it’s going to be. I ordered the prints i’ll be hanging to frame in her room, and there’s a massive pile of things to wash.
We don’t really celebrate any of the Hallmark holidays, so Mother’s (or Father’s) Day isn’t really a thing in our house
*past experience has taught me that once I get to the 28/30w mark, I can no longer bend down easily (or really at all), so getting the floor based activities done sooner rather than later is a must for me. one of the downsides of carrying fully in the front is I pretty much lose all core strength
@prpl11butterfly IMHO if the kids bedrooms are good sized I don't see why the size of living room is a huge deal. As long and furniture fits comfortably. That said I've just always had small living rooms so guess that's just what I'm used to.
Mothers Day was pretty good. DS woke me up very excited to tell me Happy MD and that he had a present for me. I promptly asked him to go shut my door and give it to me later. After that I got to sleep in a couple hours which was really nice, partly though it was because I've been sick and not sleeping because of the cough. Then we went to my moms for lunch and my sister's family and my nephew were all there. It's slightly overwhelming when there are that many people but I always enjoy the visit since I don't see my sisters family to often anymore. I was supposed to go to dinner with a mom friend but was really nauseated all afternoon so ended up cancelling that .
@kindbytealikat his big concern is gathering around the Christmas tree (even having room for one) and having some personal space while all hanging out watching TV. I've had no personal space for the last 3.5 years and I'm doing just fine lmao. We have a large living room now so it really would be kind of a new adventure.
@prpl11butterfly that is a really good point. I'm kind of freaking out about this coming Christmas and how i'll fit a tree with a swing and other baby stuff in the living room. We spent so much time this past summer getting all of DS stuff out of the living room, with exception of his book nook, and having an adult living space again. only for it to change a year and a half later.
I have an extreme green thumb. My mother and my father are both huge plant people. So, I guess you can say it’s in my blood. Anyways... yesterday, my SO and I went to Traders Village (MASSIVE Flea Market) and he got me an adorable bag, then I was able to treat myself to some new plants 🌱🤗🙃. When we came home, I re potted a few that needed bigger homes and gave my new plant friends some space on my shelf. I was also able to shower during the DAY!! Lol. Very rare occasion. Oh, and I how can I forget... I’ve been craving Mexican food for over a month now, all I wanted was endless chips and salsa, needless to say.. this momma get everything she desired.
@jcbh2018 Mexican food for the win! I've been craving it a lot lately too, except the past few days (nausea has decided to make a tiny comeback). What types of plants did you get? I don't much like indoor plants, but I love outdoor ones.
I am very proud of all your DHs, especially you FTMs! My MD wasn't awesome. (Aside from the hour I got alone in the morning when DH took the boys out for an errand--that personal time was blissful) I kind of can't wait until my kids are old enough to just do some simple, thoughtful gesture on their own without needing help from their dad! I thought I had lowered my expectations, but I was still a little disappointed. Next year I am taking matters into my own hands. Luckily, I am not afraid to tell DH when he screws up and since my birthday is in a few weeks he has another chance.
Yesterday my husband and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to get me a body pillow and it's divine! I couldn't justify spending a large sum of money on a pregnancy pillow, so I settled for the body pillow with a super soft cover. We have Beyond+, so both were 20% off, bringing the total to about $30.
I've been carrying it around the house and have found some fun ways to use it, like propping it against him while I chill on the couch (he likes this a lot too). We've also been joking about it now being a love triangle. I'm sure the love will die with time, but for now, it's real. 😂
My mother's day was memorable. I reached a new parenting milestone - first time offspring experiments with cutting their own hair. Amongst other 3 year old type mischief that was caused. MH did handle the many clean ups, thankfully. He told me today he was so glad he got to leave to go to work. Then he patted me sympathetically and made a dash for the door.

That will be my plan as well haha. I was a bit dissapointed myself but I'm not making a stink cause we are supposed to be on a budget and we spent a ton of money for Saturday night.
Okay while were on the topics of gifts. Do any of you have Fathers Day gifts/plans ideas yet?

Im so excited for my leftovers today!! I hope your nausea goes away.
I wish I could plant things outside, be we live in a apartment. So, all I have is indoor. Other than that, (these are the technical names) I got a Ardisia Humilis, Tradescantia Spathacea AKA Oyster Plant (which can also be grown outside) and my absolute favorite a Kalanchoe Tomentosa, AKA Panda Plant or Chocolate Soldier . When I look at the panda plant, I get a big smile on my face.

@junebabyh I hope YH steps it up for your birthday!! 😊 you definitely deserve it!
@meagan-t I’m so glad you got a comfy body pillow! I absolutely love mine! I even have it with me on our camping trip this week. Helps my hips SO much!
DH did great celebrating my first mother’s day! We have a close friend that does floral arrangements and helped her come up with something amazing. Picture below. It’s an old EZ bake oven... get it, bun in the oven. 🥰 He also got me and my sister breakfast from McDonald’s.
@jenferlee82 She went from shoulder blade length curls to a short bob with bangs. I'm dying a little. But also thankful it wasn't full on 2007 Britney.

DD1 did the same thing around 3.5ish! Like not all her hair, just a really unfortunate bang job. It looked really bad but in a funny way
So tired and seriously lacking motivation. Today is the deadline for all late work, and my students keep stopping by to ask if I have anything for them or what they can do to improve their grade. Sorry not sorry, nothing at this point, kiddos. My senior grades need to be posted by noon, too, and I am just not feeling grading their projects. Obviously I will, but I am not happy about it.
Mother’s Day was meh... we do a lot of get togethers usually but this year we only did one and it was nice but DH’s family flopped at organizing it and because his grandma’s (who normally organizes family holiday dinners) health is going downhill very fast I ended up being the one to take charge. It was fine but I’m annoyed that no one else stepped up, I have the most kids and the busiest schedule, but overall I’m happy that grandma had a good day.
Today I had to have my antibiotics allergy test because I’m allergic to Amoxicillin, Penicillin, and a few other good ones and we were hoping that because I was a kid that I had outgrown or didn’t have a true allergy to it. Well my skin actually looked ok but I started scratching up a storm and got an intense migraine that won’t quit. So I’m still not allowed any of the “Cillin” family and my OB had to call in a migraine medicine because Excedrin, a coke, and Ibuprofen (at the recommendation of my OB) aren’t getting me anywhere.
@prpl11butterfly my SIL was so hell bent on buying a house, she only narrowed to the first 3 they saw. The two they tied between was narrowed to one cause the other got sold under them. So the house they bought, it's pretty but it's small. It looks big from outside but their living room is the size of our room. The bedrooms and the kitchen are the only decent sized rooms and even the kids rooms are tiny for bedrooms. Her husband hates it and wishes they had waited a little longer. They went from a rental with a giant living room to this house with a tiny living room. Our conditions for a house are a good sized living room, 3 beds and main floor laundry when we start looking seriously. Of course now I've found plenty like that but we can't get the loan right now😂 Everyone's weekend/MD sounded good! Mine wasn't. I wish I had just stayed in bed all weekend. Since I work weekends only, that's where I was. The only good part of the weekend was Saturday I got to go hang with my best friend after work and she dyed my hair for me. I was kid/fiance free! Sunday was a terrible day at work and I wish I had just called off instead. SO got a little pissy Sat night with me but apologized and he had gotten me some flowers and balloons and candy, and flowers for my wishing well. Today isnt much better. DS and DD have been pushing every button(figuratively and literally 🙄) this morning and I was gonna work overtime to save some money up but I don't have the motivation to go in now 😭 thank goodness it's not mandatory I would really cry.
Wow, I am impressed by most of the FTM’s DHs! Good job, misters!
Like @greenbean-2 and @Cass005 my kids decided it was a great day to have questionable behavior. Lots of fighting between them. However, it was still a great day. Went to brunch and drank half of my mimosa. Then went and saw End Game. Spent the rest of the day in bed rewatching season 1 of GOT.
DH got me new Beats headphones (my previous ones were stolen out of my gym bag). The kids made me lots of homemade stuff including this necklace from my eldest to which he said “I got you a diamond necklace... get it, a ‘dime in necklace’?”:
@galentine I love that set so much, such a great choice!
For my DH, I ordered him a custom docking station for his nightstand, engraved with Dad. He was talking about needing/wanting one, and it will be his first "Dad-branded" thing so I know he'll love it.
Awww I love reading everyone's MD stories. I'm sorry not all were great, but loving the H's that stepped up the game for the FTM's. I have to say, two MD's in and I'm still not quite used to hearing the well wishes or celebrating for myself. I went to my mom's to cook her brunch, which went exceptionally well. (I don't think I've made more perfect omelettes, French toast, fruit salad, like... ever.) While DS and I were over there, SO stayed home to clean and do laundry. But the best part was SO and DS got me an air fryer which I've really been wanting lately. I've used it almost exclusively since I got home from mom's yesterday. Absolutely loving it!
In reference to the Dad's day question, I have no idea what to get him, all I know is crap, now I've gotta step it up a bit, lol.

Morning all!! I prob won’t be around much this week cause we’re on vacation in Denver! Currently mid flight and it’s going surprisingly well so far— thanks to the iPad for toddler entertainment! If anyone has any good suggestions for things to do in Denver I’m all ears!
I'm planning on getting Hubby a nice bottle of whiskey/bourbon, just have to find a good one. I know nothing about it and what's considered really good, or really bad lol. I also found a pair of Vintage whiskey glasses that have the liberty bell and constitution on them. They look pretty cool.
The hard part is his birthday is before FD so...now I gotta think of something else. I may get him the Fall Out 4 board game, Or a nice dice cup because he bought a new game that involves dice. He's pretty hard to buy for.
