I got an at home Doppler even though DH laughed at me and I totally went into it thinking you probably won’t find it and that’s okay but I freaking found the heartbeat tonight and I feel like a million bucks and had to share somewhere! I can’t wait for DH to get home from his work trip so I can show him too.
@antera23 Thank you. I ended up taking a break from my work and calling him and laying it out that I am emotionally stressed and way too overwhelmed and it seems like he finally heard me. I told him I appreciate what he does, but I need him to do more and take some of my load while I am growing his second child in my womb. I also sent him some articles on how a spouse can help his pregnant partner....so fingers crossed the lightbulb turned on and he gets it.
@srscott3 - I love it! And I love the baby's name! Amelia has always been on my list, but MH's cousin just named her baby Amelia so its off the list. I also had an impulse buy today:
I'm in a BAD mood right now. I can't get warm, I can't decide if I'm hungry or not (I might be nauseous, I don't know these days), my friends just cancelled a friends' dinner last minute, and MH is working late tonight. I ordered Chinese.
Came home tonight to a surprise from DH...he ordered me the Boppy pregnancy body pillow. I've been wedging a pillow under my little blump at night and somehow that makes my hips not hurt...so he did a bunch of research, said this one had the best reviews, and ordered it to surprise me. I'm not going to bother looking up what it cost...his love language to show love is giving gifts, and I thought that was sweet.
(I debated sharing, because I reeeeeally don't mean to come off like I'm rubbing it in. Not my intention at all! Totally feel for the gals with less-than-helpful DHs...that seriously sucks, growing a kid is hard work and I hope they figure that out soon. So please don't be upset that I shared this! I just don't know many people who would get why that's a sweet gesture like this group would.)
@ki1244 that’s awesome! I got the pharmedoc maternity pillow and it has been amazing to sleep with! It somehow manages to just support all the right places. It was only $39 on Amazon. I think I’m going to take it with me on vacation too!
DH asked me out on a date for this Saturdsy. He is trying to be more intentional in our relationship. I'm so excited! Last week he took me for sushi so I'm excited to see where he takes me next.
Re: lazy husbands..... We had 2 small kids and a teen while my husband was in residency. I noticed he kept leaving all his dishes for me to clean for him, even when the dishwasher was empty. I even bought a magnet to let you know when the dishwasher was empty. The man still left them. I finally spoke up about it and he said he didn't have the time to put the dishes away. I said well it only takes 30 seconds to put dirty dishes in the dishwasher. He told me he didn't even have 30 seconds. Man was I pissed. He may have been in residency but I was at home with all the kids and the baby was sick all the time. So I was exhausted and ran down to the point I would just sit and cry. After many more discussions/fights he finally puts his dishes away and will actually unload the dishwasher. In residency he did nothing to help me. So I feel for all the ladies with husbands who can't be bothered to do more than the bare minimum.
@emeraldcity603 when DH was a surgery resident, he did absolutely nothing around the house. That was until his best friend (also a resident, but single) came over and made a comment about how nice it must be to have someone at home to help. Not someone at home to do all your shit for you, but to help you with your things. DH realized he had it pretty easy after that and he stepped his game up.
My 22 month old DS fell head over heels down the stairs. My DH was suppose to be watching him. apparently he just ran and my DH wasn’t quick enough. I’m trying not to be angry with DH. It was my time to relax solo (SAHM) and accidents happen, but ugh after being frustrated that DH isn’t putting dirty dishes away or helping clean up the playroom, I am so frustrated that I feel like I have to monitor both DH and DS. Oh and my in-laws want to get my DS a drum set for Christmas after I specifically said no because “sometimes parents don’t get to choose what their kids get” and “grandparents have privileges”. So done with today.
@srscott3 love the name choice! I have an Amelia, it was one of my favorites and so happy we chose it. Also love the llama! If she likes it, buy 10 haha
My DH is not terrible with household chores by any means (he does all the dishes although not very quickly). However, I don’t think he understands what a trash can is for, or how to pick up anything. He didn’t used to do it so much when we were first married and I worked in an office. But now that I work from home, I think he thinks I have tons of extra time to do extra cleaning. It really would be nice to feel like we do 50/50 especially right now when I feel crappy all day every day and don’t feel up to cleaning.
My brother in law lives with us and the deal is we cook and he cleans up from supper. So i never do dishes. My DH doesnt know how to run the washing machine and emptying the kitty litter has been torture but he does a lot of the cooking so me doing laundry kinda even things out. I am not the best house keeper and only seem to really care about our floor when people are coming over lol
Is anyone else having nightmares? I have been having the most vivid disturbing nightmares. This last one *TW* was about losing DD. I was in the hospital with her and they were telling me she was dying and I was sobbing. It was such a traumatic dream. *END TW* I have had a few dreams like that this pregnancy and I can’t figure out how to prevent them
@carleym93 oh no I'm sorry that sounds horrible I'm so sorry. I've had nightmares too but nothing like that, they're scary while I'm dreaming but after they're actually silly. I'm sorry I have no advice on how to stop them though.
I’m not sure where to post this stream of consciousness so I hope it’s okay here. I’ve been having some classic first trimester fears this week.
*TW on the one hand I’m so excited to enter my 12th week today. Which I know brings chances of miscarriage down to 2/3% and I know that’s a low number. But I feel like I’ve seen people I know announce and then lose baby at 13 weeks a couple times this year. And it just makes me so nervous. You think you’re in the hope stretch but there’s really another two weeks and when is it ever really safe? Not sure any of that makes sense. I guess you’re just brought to believe 12 weeks is the pinnacle of pregancy hurdles when it doesn’t feel that way at all really. * end TW and end rant I suppose. Just been on my mind.
@catmommac the in-laws problem is an easy fix. Just return it or politely tell them no thanks when they gift it.
@carleym93 I had a nightmare that DS2 was possessed when he was a baby. He was sleeping with me and when I looked down he had a creepy grin on his face and his head turned around 360 degrees. It freaked me out.
___
I had a horrible night last night. DD1 was up with an ear ache. Then DS2 was up twice. Once because he wet the bed (oops I forgot his pullup) and the second time he was upset because I left the pullup bag in his room the first time he was up. 🙄 then DD2 was up. Luckily she went back down easily which was a huge relief. Now we are all up for the day and 5:30. 😫 I can't have any coffee either to help me get through this day.
@carleym93 totally had a nightmare like that last night. It was horrible. Woke up this morning and immediately checked my underwear to make sure the blood was all in my dream.
The night before I had a REALLY vivid sex dream about a coworker so that's a very different kind of nightmare...
@catmommac is there a consignment store nearby? When my sister gets gifts that she'd rather burn than let her children play with, and there's no receipt, she secretly consigns them and puts the money in their college fund.
@emeraldcity603 that SUCKS. Does decaf give you a placebo effect at all? FX your kids take a monster nap today somehow and you get one too...
@carleym93 Yes, I've been having nightmares too, but very strange ones. Like, one night I had a nightmare that I gave birth, but forgot to buy baby things (car seat, crib, etc.). I had very similar ones up until my wedding too, like I was walking down the aisle but I forgot to do my hair and make up
@cricket1688 I'm totally right there with you. The only time I ever feel "safe" is when I'm getting an US and can see the little bugger jumping around in there, but by the time I leave anxiety hits again. *sending creepy internet hugs*
I always have dreams that I forget to feed the baby once it's born. Or I forget where I put the baby. I have had those recurring nightmares with my last 2 pregnancies.
@emeraldcity603 solidarity on the no sleep DD2 had fever off and on all night and ended up in our bed (we've been playing this game for a couple of nights) now I have to endure work with no caffeine. hopefully you get a serious nap and I get to come home and go straight to bed.
@vv826 I hope your LO feels better soon. I can't nap today. I have a lot to do with my oldest and I may have to take DD1 to the pediatrician if DH can't see into her ear.
Yikes, so sorry so many of you guys are having nightmares too but glad I’m not alone. Pregnancy always makes my dreams really vivid but the downside are the bad ones are super vivid too. Can’t we just fast forward to June so we can all have these babies in our arms and not causing ruckus on the inside?!
I had a dream we found our dream house and it was in our price range, but the sellers wouldn't sell to us because they thought our kids were misbehaving. It was definitely a nightmare lol.

I had a dream I gave birth to a baby girl (We don't know yet). Not really a nightmare but we couldn't agree on a name because apparently we were team green.
Probably because I was looking at names yesterday and secretly wanting a girl.
I had a weird pregnancy dream that DH almost cheated on me. In our house. While I was asleep. But our house was my grandma's house and I went crazy on the girl yelling at her from across the street. Because she lived across the street with her parents. It was so weird. I woke up mad at DH until I realized I was in bed and it was a dream. I really dislike how vivid pregnancy makes dreams.
Does anyone have a digital/email offer Buy buy baby or bed bath and beyond 20% off coupon they’re not using and would be willing to share? I need to go buy a foot muff thing for DD and mine expired 4 days ago 😩
Scary dreams here too. I had a few last night, one was that the world was being attacked by monsters so DH, DD and I were hiding in a pet store in the mall trying to wait it out. It was freaky.
And then I had a cheating dream too. I caught DH cheating and then his dad asked him how I felt about it, and he said who cares it isn't her decision who I sleep with. It was HORRIBLE. I woke up ready to smack the crap out of him lol until I realized it was just a horrible dream.
I thought we were in for some good sexy dreams....but I have only had weird dreams or nightmares with a few nice dreams in between but nothing really sexy lol
I'm down 3 ornaments this evening. DD2 started just taking them off and throwing them. That along with my cat trying to climb it and eat the lights (I swear he is half dog) all my decorations are getting destroyed.
I’ve been having horrible dreams for this whole pregnancy. They range from my husband having an affair to things involving my mom who passed away last year. They’re all so vivid and real. So disturbing. The last one involving my mom had me waking up in tears and then crying again later in the day because it was so real.
Oh yeah. I have been having crazy dreams too. Last night I dreamed that I watched my sister drown in the ocean, that turned into a pool. Then she turned out to be alive. Then I had a dream I was at a retreat. I used the communal showers. The shower was plugged up and a lot of water was collecting. When I was done I looked down there were two huge turds floating in the water. I had been showering with poop! I almost threw up in my dream lol.
