@coco2787 lots of hugs to you. I think everything you are feeling is so normal. Especially since we both know we are done after our second take home child. It puts so much more pressure on us knowing this is it. Are you guys going to find out with the NIPT?
@dntstpbelieveing That question is on my list of things to ask the OB on Wednesday. I had two rounds of steroids at 24 weeks when I went into preterm labor with the boys. And then only was able to receive one before my water broke a little over a week later. I think a lot of neonatologists are wary to give the steroid out in later term because it has been linked to brain developmental issues later (learning disabilities and language). So I’m not sure at what weeks they will say it’s better off to not give it. Considering Abe died from chronic lung disease and a collapsed lung, I think I will request it and take the odds on developmental issues. I do realize there is a huge difference between a 25 week versus a 36 week old baby. But I can’t shake the gut feeling of wanting the steroids anyway.
Eta: post got cut off. Thanks for sharing your outcome of your little guy getting the steroids at 35 weeks. I’m so glad he didn’t need oxygen.

@meatballs37 yes, I think we’ll be doing the NIPT again. If there is a genetic issue I want to know as soon as possible.

@dntstpbelieveing and @meatballs37 Of course every case is different, but FWIW, I think in my case the steroid shots helped my DS. My water broke at 33w3d without any apparent cause, but I didn't go into labour. They weren't sure how long they'd be able to keep him in, so they gave me two steroid shots, 12 hours apart. DS was born at 34 weeks, and only needed the CPAP for the first few hours. After that, he was breathing well on his own. Our NICU's policy is to keep babies until at least 35 weeks gestation, and he would have been able to come home then if it weren't for the blood infection we contracted in the hospital. Fingers crossed we can all avoid the NICU this time around.
