Re: Weekly Randoms 22.10

  • @kvh22 I'm not really finding anything I trust. Some blog things, some baby center questions. Blah.
  • Loading the player...
  • Most of what I'm finding is just referring to it being a risk if you fall and hurt yourself and that your balance is off already.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds can you call your nurses line to be safe? I'm probably over cautious during pregnancy but now I'm on modified bed rest so

  • I just sent a message through my chart. Now I wait.
  • @eatinwatermelonseeds you're a better mom than me, the money I spend on admission to the trampoline place earns me the right to sit on the sidelines on my phone and mildly supervise/encourage lol.

  • @eatinwatermelonseeds Obviously, I'm no medical professional. But, I feel like trampoline parks are pretty safe in terms of fall risk. If they weren't, it's litigation waiting to happen, right? Baby is pretty well protected right now, so I would probably feel comfortable. I wouldn't necessarily feel so comfortable jumping on a friend's trampoline in their back yard though. Those things can be dangerous.

  • @sleepy33 bahaha I feel like at home he is so mellow and not super high maintenance (anymore), so we have chill days a lot. I like to take him out and do things I can do with him. But also, it kind of breaks my heart watching him play alone, or trying to awkwardly talk to other kids. Lol.
I know what you mean. Mine's an only and he wants soooo badly to be everyone's friend, but he'll try to just insert himself in with a group of bigger kids or something and they'll side eye him. It's super hard to explain social norms to kiddos.

  • We have told close family and 2 friends, basically our support network. Funny, after finding out about the SCH I wanted to wait to tell more people until my US on the 15th (14 weeks), but I had to tell my co teacher and TA because I can’t lift or move anything or anyone in the classroom. Of course, I didn’t account for how loud my TAs reaction was going to be and a whole bunch of people heard in the hallway... so by Friday I’m guessing the whole school will know lol. This is actually the longest we’ve gone usually we have just told everyone but this pregnancy was such a surprise that I was really thrown off and wanted to be more cautious. We will probably announce on FB after the 15th if everything looks good.
  • We stayed quiet for longer last time. But we announced on social media a lot sooner last time than we will this time. I have told a lot of friends just due to the nature of the pregnancy. It was so funny that I genuinely thought I couldn't get pregnant, and then I got pregnant I'm pretty sure the weekend I graduated nursing school. It was hard not to be like "dude guess what!" When so many knew what I was going through and how devastating it was.
  • I am curious to know what you hear about the trampoline safety. @eatinwatermelonseeds I have a mini exercise trampoline and everything I found made me wary about using it but I didn't find any real data to back it up.
  • @lappymom2019 I'm waiting on my doctor to get back to me, I'll let you know when I hear from her.
  • Congrats!!!!! You kicked butt and earned it! @eatinwatermelonseeds

  • We haven’t told anyone yet and don’t plan on telling anyone at least until we have the genetic testing done.  We are playing with maybe telling our families at Thanksgiving, and will probably start telling close friends a little after that.  Neither of us are big on Facebook announcements so we don’t plan on doing anything there.  Maybe once baby is born, but definitely nothing before that.

We told our parents kinda early last time and my mom went and blabbed even though we were really clear about not telling anyone else.  *TW* I lost that pregnancy and I came home from getting the bad news to congratulatory emails from people my mom had told.  It really hurt.  I’m a very private person and at the time really needed some space to grieve before I was ready to talk about it but my mom refused to give me any space, got super over dramatic and made everything about herself and then put an announcement in her church bulletin about it asking people to pray for me.  I don’t think miscarriage should be a taboo topic and totally support women talking about it openly, but having the decision of how I wanted to grieve and when I wanted to discuss it taken away from me like that felt really violating.  My mom still doesn’t understand why I was so hurt by what she did, so needless to say that is the reason we aren’t telling anyone until we feel like we are mostly in the clear.*/TW*

My mom is coming to visit us for a week on Friday and I’m not particularly looking forward to having to hide it from her.  I have an OB appointment while she’s here, so that should be interesting.
  • Congratulations @eatinwatermelonseeds!

((I’d insert a congratulatory dance gif here if it wasn’t such a pain to on mobile))
  • @beccaneu I'm sorry you went through that. My mom has actually been surprisingly good about keeping it a secret. She's usually one to make things about herself, but she didn't with this.
  • I had my first unsolicited grab of my stomach today by a coworker who I don’t know that well, in the hallway, in front of kids (who don’t know I’m pregnant). Um, excuse me, but no! Please don’t touch my stomach.

  • @mrskoz428 That sucks.  I honestly don’t understand why anyone would think someone being pregnant suddenly makes it ok to touch their stomach.   Where does the urge to do that even come from?
  • @beccaneu I have no clue. I gently pushed her hand away and said, “My students don’t know yet.” I should have said more but I was around kids (thankfully not close but...). Ugh!

  • Thank you everyone!! I keep rechecking the website to make sure it's really me 😂 it says it was issued today. I still think I'm going to pay to get the thing that says "YOU PASSED" just so I trust it 😂 there's literally no other person on there with my name, but maybe it's not me 😂
