TTGP Check In October

Re: TTGP Check In October

  • And I was griping to DH about the guy in my office and he told me to leave a note on his desk next time he was up  :D
  • Loading the player...
  • Or toss a cough drop on his desk.

  • Just leave some tea and honey on his desk  :D
  • Extra points if you can hit him in the head with a cough drop WHILE he's clearing his throat!

  • So here are a couple outfits I came up with last night. I found a few more ideas on Pinterest last night but will need to try them out. I’m not really satisfied with any of them yet. If the grey top were looser it might be the winner but I don’t like the proportions of everything being this tight. Sorry, the pics are humongous!

  • @meggyme I’m with you on preferring a loose top with my fitted pants. I do like the gray top though, could you add a loose cardigan maybe?
  • @lelkcot I have a scarf that I'm going to try to wear as a sort of wrap. I'll play around with it more tonight. I reeeeally want to wear these leggings but they're definitely a challenge to style properly.

  • @meggyme it’s so frustrating when you have a piece you really like, but no easy outfit for it! I have definitely ended up buying additional stuff trying to make a certain pair of shoes work!
  • I like the grey top best too. As lelkcot suggested, a long loose cardigan could give you the look you’re going for, and I think you could have a lot of fun with accessories (try a long chunky necklace for example). Do you have black stilettos? (only if you’d feel ok balance wise with a baby bump, lol)
  • @navete I don't have stilettos, but I have T-strap black heels. Most of my cardigans are neutral colored, so I'll have to see if I can find something with some pop. I do have a leopard print longer coat that might work too.

  • Ooo, like the idea of the leopard coat and the black heels!
  • I also have a red open front cardigan and leopard flats.
    DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
  • Red would be an awesome pop of color to add.
  • @lelkcot thanks. I think that thread yesterday killed off what little action we had going. It is dead today.

  • @meggyme ya, it seems to have caused lots of ruffed feathers, which sucks as that was so clearly not the intention... and now we’re even slower...

  • Hiiiii ladies. I’m terrible at keeping up lately! I will try to read through here but just wanted to bookmark for the future. I can’t freaking believe October is already basically done. Whoa.

  • @mschanandlerbong1214 I can’t believe next week is Halloween and then November! Hope you’re doing well!
  • @lelkcot @mschanandlerbong1214 I feel like the next two months are going to fly by. I feel like once the holidays start time goes 3x as fast just because we're soooooo busy.

  • @meggyme yes - I feel like the holidays always fly by in a flurry of driving, food and wrapping paper! I need to go ahead and get moving on my shopping or I’ll never have everything purchased and wrapped for my nieces and nephews!

@lelkcot I've got my list started. We started doing a secret santa for my siblings/their SO's and I. It's so much easier to buy something nice for 1 person than something for 6 different people. Luckily none of them have kids yet so I don't have to worry about that, and my BFF's and I decided to start skipping presents and travel together instead.

  • @meggyme my younger sister has opted out of celebrating Christmas/giving gifts, but that still leaves us with a sibling and their spouses on each side, 7 nieces and nephews and our combined 5 parents! I honestly like buying/giving gifts, but end up stressing myself out if I don’t start early.
  • @lelkcot yeah, I like the hunt for the perfect gift, but the money management side of it stresses me out every year.

  • @meggyme yep, the budgeting aspect is always stressful and DH gets grumpy about all we end up spending at Christmas, even though I set and stay under a per-person spending limit.
  • @lelkcot MH doesn't care as much about the money, I manage most of it, but we also fly cross country to see them so his participation in gift giving is "their Christmas present is us being here". Yeah, sure, but it still feels weird knowing they'll be buying us gifts and not to have anything to give them.

  • @meggyme yep - that would be my husbands response too. He actually opts completely out of gifts with his brother whenever possible. Extra tough because you’d have to travel with or ship any gifts you wanted to give!
  • I'm jealous of how on top of things you ladies are! I haven't even planned ahead for Halloween, let alone Thanksgiving and Christmas, argh. But this is all good inspiration to get me started  :p
  • @navete, don't be too impressed. Work has been slow and DD has most of a costume for next week but hasn't actually tried any of it on for fit. She's going to be Minnie Mouse in a hand-me-down polka dot dress I found and my old mouse ears.

  • @navete - I’m with you! I’ve done nothing. We live in the country so not expecting trick or treaters. All I’ve done for holidays is issue an open ended invite for my dad to join us. Feeling way behind right now.

I’ve been mia since my mil is here so I missed all yesterday’s drama  yikes....

  • @catlady2015 Ooh I forgot you were hosting your MIL. I hope it's going well! I know it can be exhausting (and other terms perhaps lol). I'm glad you missed the drama though, it was quite a downer. I told MH about it and he was all, "wow, it's almost like it's a group of highly hormonal women" ha. He's lucky I love him and appreciate his sarcasm  :D
  • I’m only on top of it because works slow and if I wait too long I’ll stress myself out! Plus I’m already getting questions from the family about holiday plans.
  • @catlady2015 hope all is going smoothly with the MIL visit!
  • @navete - It hasn’t been too bad. We’ve planned an outing a day and I’ve been just trying to do normal stuff. Plus DH really takes over when he gets home from work, so I’m not on all the time. He’ll really take over for the weekend after tomorrow. Yay pregnancy, no one bats an eye when I say I’m tired and going to bed early. Over halfway through!

@lelkcot - we decided as soon as we saw the bfp we were staying home this year. Closest family is 6 hours away and I’m not road tripping that at 6 months along. People are welcome to come here but I think only my dad might, so no big plans need to be made. Just need to get gifts bought, and should start soon to spread out expenses.

  • @catlady2015 definitely smart to not travel and deal with that drive when 6 months pregnant! All of our family is within an hour and a half drive of us, which is lovely, except at the holidays. We spend half our time in the car. Although we did put our foot down on spending the night at various parents houses at Christmas when we had DS.
  • @lelkcot @navete So I think this is what I’m wearing to that event Friday. Probably with either leopard flats and a sweater or my leopard coat and suede booties. It’s all black, but a bit looser at the hem so the proportions are a bit better.

  • @meggyme really like that!
  • @meggyme That’s the best combo yet! The leggings are somehow more accentuated, which is great since that’s the driving piece. Can’t wait to see the final outfit!
  • I want to see the final outfit as well! Looks like a good pick for the top!
  • AFM long effing two weeks. The list includes: report cards due, formal principle observation, after school carnival, parent teacher conferences, a training, testing, and data review day all on top of the usual demands such as before school duty, PLCs, kids with behavior problems etc. I’ve been rolling into bed every night. October is always hell month.
  • @meggyme - love the final outfit!

@JLaVO888 - yikes, that’s a lot, hang in there! We’re almost done with October!
