Just found our my employer supplements the 55% state disability for the 4 weeks before baby which means I can take the whole time off with 100% pay. 5 month maternity leave here I come!!!!!!
Ugghhh, stoppppp, guys! I bought a box of Enlightened fudge bars this weekend. Pretty good while I'm eating it, but leaves a bit of a chalky texture and aftertaste.
I mentioned somewhere around here that my family really wanted to have a shower, so I made my BBB and Amazon registries public. I just went in to do some maintenance and the dresser and double stroller have been purchased!
I keep seeing videos of home on Facebook that friends have shared and feel sad about the destruction still going on from this hurricane. The flooding is horrible and has washed out a lot of roads. My dad has to travel an hour to work and it took him hours today to find a road that wasn’t flooded or blocked. My family and h’s family are fine and our homes are okay. There is just a lot of destruction from all of the water.
@temmetime I hope you can have that conversation with your H soon and he can see your side. @Jens_Hoesenjoy the cleaning lady! That really does sound amazing. @rcultrona that leave is amazing! @countrygirl624 I bought “fall cakes” last week...they maybe lasted 3 days. @Activebaby the destruction is so sad, so much water. I’m glad your family is safe and okay.
I went on a 1 mile walk in 90+ degree weather during DS3’s cross country practice today. I realize I’m not the fastest walker right now, but someone needs to tell my Apple Watch that my 25 minute walk all counts as exercise! It gave me 5 minutes of exercise.
@Activebaby good to hear your family is safe, as well as your homes.
@scaredunprepared Yay marriage license!! And I know your dogs situation is overwhelming but animals can be super resilient! My dog has been given only a few days three times now and today he turned 16!! Anything is possible!! Just keep showering him with love like you have been!! It’s the best medicine.
@runrinserepeat I have been thinking of you and your mom. I will make sure to say an extra one for her tomorrow!!
AFM This app is driving me nuts!! I haven’t been responding personally to most posts because this app is horrible on mobile. I want to move to FB NOW but I don’t have a page of my own. I use my husband for event updates and that’s about it!
Funny, kinda, is my husband just unfriended someone who has been obsessing over me using my DH’s page completely infrequently for the last ten years. If I post something I put ~myname and that has put this guy into a tail spin and he stalks my husband page looking for me. He writes random post trying to bait me into conversation, I would never bite on. My husband’s final straw was this dude tried to troll someone else on our pregnancy announcement. I told him to take it somewhere else and my husband actually got mad at me for engaging him and unfriended him because he thought the guy might get nasty and didn’t want all our friends and family to see it. The sad part is this dude is the younger brother of my DH’s best friends since kindergarten. Ten days later people are still telling me he is talking shit on my husband for unfriending him.
Anyways my point is this app hates me and when the great migration happens I am probably gonna be left behind. Welp.
@LLynde5 nooooooo! You can always get yourself a Facebook profile just for group purposes. No cost, and you don't have to use it to post anything or friend anyone if you prefer to maintain a low profile.
@runrinserepeat not at all. I appreciate the support and perspective. I just meant I don't like bad news for anyone I'm pissed cancer hasn't met it's match yet.
@LLynde5 thanks for the positivity. We will certainly be spoiling the heck out of our dog. She's our first baby and there will be no shortage of love. I hate the bump app too. Such a pita. You need to get your own Facebook account, if nothing else than to join our group. You can't be left behind!
@LLynde5 yea you can totally create an account and have it so locked down that no one will know it exists unless you tell them. I'm pretty sure you're able to (or at least used to be able to) set it to where searching your name shows no results and people have to have your email address to find you if you're not friends.
@LLynde5 I second what people said about the secret FB profile - mine is actually not searchable except for friends of friends. But I think you can make it even more locked down if you wanted. And you don't have to put real information about yourself if you don't want to. You can use your first name and have your Bump name as a last name, for example.
I worked at a bank and it was highly recommended we didn’t use FB when the app became popular. I have boycotted getting my own page for years. I have never had an interest in it and have always voiced my opinion that I am better off without it!! Then people started tagging pictures of me as my husband, so I started checking it sporadically for events we are invited to. But I do my best to keep far away from BS and I have lumped FB in the BS category.
For you ladies I will get a page but no one (other than DH) in my inner circle can know about it!! I have been hounded for years to get my own page. I can hear the comments now if some of my friends and family find out. Lol. *shaking in the corner
@lexidawg Wow, that seems like it's just around the corner! S**t just got real! @LLynde5 Yay, I hope you do make a secret account for your interwebs buddies! We would miss you if you didn't.
AFM, I ordered my breast pump this morning from my insurance. I'm trying the Spectra S2 this time! Last time I used the Medela PISA and liked it just fine...just want to try something new.
@clbness I was looking into breast pumps through insurance yesterday trying to figure it all out. I think I just ordered from the manufacturer’s website directly? Does that sound right? Also which one should I get??? Eeeekkk!!!!
@countrygirl624 Which insurance do you have? I have Cigna and they just have me call the phone # on the back of my card and order it directly through them. They needed a prescription for the pump from my doctor, so they called my office and requested the prescription directly. They had me choose which pump I wanted from 3 options: Medela PISA, Spectra S2 and one of the Ameda ones. I used the Medela last time and I liked it...seemed to do the job well! I just wanted to try the Spectra this time because I have heard good things about it, but had they not offered the Spectra, I totally would have gone with the Medela again! I really can't remember the process of how I ordered it with my last pregnancy...if I called my insurance, or if I directly ordered it through Medela. I don't know much about the Ameda pumps either and haven't heard many reviews from friends.
Also, how was your interview today?! I hope you blew them away.
@countrygirl624 I have anthem and I ordered direct from the distributor, like you described. I am in the exact same boat as @clbness. I used my medela last time, and it was fine, but I am going to try the spectra this time, since it is supposed to be hospital grade. I kept my medela, though, so I can break that out, if needed.
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield - I have a Dr appt so I will ask them tomorrow about it and hopefully they’ll have some guidance too. @katy0990 I think Anthem and BCBS are similar?
@clbness Thanks for all the info!! Girl - I did blow them away! I told my husband I couldn’t have done better. Thanks for asking!!
@countrygirl624 i orordered my pump through Target. If you search their website " breast pump program" it should come up. You select which one you want, input your insurance info and they do the rest. I ordered mine and it was here a week later. Like @clbness I had a medela last time but went with the Spectra S2 this time. It is SO much quieter than the medela.
@countrygirl624 I had Blue Cross Blue Shield with DD. I took my prescription to the hospital when we delivered and they gave it to me there. It's funny how all over the place it is! Not really though. More frustrating that the processes are so varied and some super inefficient. Now before I get on my soapbox....
@countrygirl624 Yes, I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (so same company) and when I called them last time the gave me the names of 3 suppliers I could order from. I chose edge park. I called and oredered it over the phone. It took maybe 10 minutes and they sent it to me a couple of weeks later. They get the script and do all the leg work for you, which is nice. @gorgeousariel I’m glad to hear the spectra is quieter. I still have nightmares about the sound of my medela pump!
I have BCBS too and last time just ordered through them. They only gave me one option...Ameda. It worked, I had no issues with it and it could work either battery powered or plugged in, so it was great since I needed to pump on my drive home from work nearly every day. This time I want to ask if I have any other options, I'd love to get the Spectra since I've heard so many great things about it!
@CecilB93 That’s crazy that there is different protocol from the same company! I wonder if it varies by state. FWIW, they let me get the spectra this time, so I hope you can, too.
Since we’re talking insurance, I have Tricare and both times I bought mine from an outside source and billed insurance. Still waiting for the check to come through on my Willow pump, but I’m really doubting they’ll pay. But they say they’ll cover any pump, so I’m willing to contest any denial. *shrug emoji*

@countrygirl624 I have Fed BCBS and I had to order mine through them last time. They gave me two options, I think it was Ameda and something else. Since even with bcbs it seems all over the place, I would call them and ask what you’re supposed to do. I honestly think I googled “How to get breast pump BCBS” and that’s how I found the number. It was on their website somewhere...maybe the FAQs.
@countrygirl624@rosebud332 I just called the number on the back of my card. That may give you an answer specific to your policy since it seems they have different protocol for different plans.
@scaredunprepared Ugh. I am sorry you didn't get better news about your pup. It sounds like apart from that, you had a great weekend though.
@runrinserepeat Sending MANY prayers for your mom. Cancer sucks!
@temmetime I haven't gotten the second tri burst of energy either. I didn't when I was pregnant with DS either!! I have been more irritable as well too. DH doesn't even have to do anything but breath wrong and I was to hit him. lol It's bad! I don't know if it's because I am so tired or what.
@omnommer That's great! Good for you!! I've been cutting out eating sweets during the week and trying to limit them to one a day during the weekends! It's so much easier to not eat sweets when you make it a normal thing. When I don't have them, I don't crave them!
@clbness yay for a new pump!! I still have my PISA. When I got a pump before my only two options were AMEDA and Medela. I THINK I have the same insurance this go round so I assume my options will be the same.
@Llynde5 Yes! Make a secret facebook just so you can keep up with us!!
As far as insurance, I think it depends on who your carrier is. With my insurance, I call and they tell me the companies they deal with and then I call the company and order my pump from them.

Before we had kids I recall us discussing that we'd never take a kid to Melting Pot. haha This will be the 5-6 time DS has been to Melting Pot in his two years. He doesn't get his own food though.
