I'm the opposite - I've been craving KFC popcorn chicken so badly.
I've also been vegetarian since age 10... Yeahh. Had these cravings last time too and gave in once or twice because I figured it was my body's way of saying I needed the protein. Not my proudest moment.
I feel like the only thing I'm eating lately is noodle soup. It's fast enough to prepare that I can make it before the nausea kicks in... tomato based things has worked quite well too, pasta sauces, lentil soup, chili. I agree that chicken just cause nausea, so I try to stay away. Overall I feel like I'm reverting to really blend food with familiar tastes, kind of the things my parents would cook. I've got two weddings coming up in two weeks, and I so hope I'm able to eat the food and stay up for some of the partying at least!
DH bought some cream of wheat at the store this weekend (bc he likes it). I’ve been all gross and sick in the mornings this week, and when he made it for the first time this morning it was like seeing the light. So good and stomach soothing.
Then he pipes up ‘oh yeah, this stuff was all my mother and grandma were able to keep down during their pregnancies!’.
....Maybe he could have brought that up and made it instead of me horking up everything else I’ve tried this week
Ugh. I am basically just snacking all day because I can't stomach an entire meal at a time. As a result I'm basically eating a bunch of random stuff. Mostly candy, candied nuts, crackers, and a vegetable or yogurt here and there. My nutrition is garbage in first tri. When I was pregnant with DD I basically lived off of mint chocolate chip ice cream, snickers, and french fries. She turned out pretty well so I'm not too concerned, though she is pretty obsessed with potatoes, lol.
Also, word to the wise: Don't down a bunch of all dressed chips right before bedtime. Please learn from my mistake!
I had the worst craving for a burrito last night... got it, got home, started eating it, and couldn't finish it. Yet if I go too long without eating, my stomach acts like it's trying to absorb itself it's so hungry. Ugh.
I'm in the same boat! All I think about is when I'm going to eat. Then I eat and I can't eat a lot. Then awhile later I think about what I ate last and it sounds so gross.
This morning, I ordered a chorizo breakfast sandwich and corned beef hash. Luckily, DD will eat anything because I wanted about 20% of that meal once I got it. The corned beef was SO salty and nitrate-y!
Just bought all of the sour candy from 7-11 because it's supposed to help with morning sickness. It helped for a hot second and I was starving so I ate A TON without realizing what I was doing, and now I feel sicker than when I started. FML.
@MRDCle I'm with you, vegetarian dishes have been wonderful and sitting really well. We're doing a lot of beans with starches. It's weird because I was a vegetarian for 10 years but quit for my health, and have loved meat ever since. Can't understand this return to vegetarianness.
Carbs and cold fruit have been my go-to. And I hate how something will sound ok but then I get it and I can't even look at it. Meat is definitely grossing me out, and I was eating a lot of grilled chicken, ground turkey, and grass-fed beef prior to baby. Definitely not getting enough protein right now. I also have to drink a glass of gingerade from World Market every morning; it's lemonade with ginger, and the only thing that gets me through the first hour of nausea and getting ready.
I made a salad with romaine, cucumber, pear, feta, sliced almonds, and dried cranberries topped with raspberry vinaigrette that was so damn good. Like life changing you guys.
I barely ate my burger but demolished the salad.

I was so proud of myself last night because I actually made dinner last night (tator tot casserole). And I was doing great with it. Until I took a bit of just meat. Then I about tossed my cookies. So meat by itself is still a major NO.
My MIL brought over chicken enchillada casserole last night. Yeah. I was really concerned that I was going to have to run to the toilet, but I took the first bite and I was in love. DW was not really impressed because I've had us avoid meat meals all week, and here I was stuffing my face with chicken bites.
I can't understand why some foods work and some don't!
@thatbaintforbetty Salad was out for a few weeks, but now I'm totally on board. I also like mine with a little cheese, kalamata olives, cucumber, apple, dried cranberries, and I have a good peach balsamic vinegar. Then I embarrassingly slurp up the dressing at bottom when I'm done!
I’m currently waiting for school pick up and I brought this in the car with me lol. So grateful I am finally craving something healthy and the watermelon taste amazing
I really Want Chinese food. A lot. But I have celiacs diseases so my only option is to make it myself or drive an hour to PFCHangs. Also still eating way more bagels (gluten free) than is reasonable.
@lyse01 I’ve been eyeing one of those dessert maker things that you put frozen fruit into and it makes basically a frozen yogurt/ice cream like thing. I know there are lots of recipes that incorporate different things then just fruit.

@lyse01, you can do a lot with fruit. Bananas work well to make an "ice cream," substitute... you can make watermelon granita, which is like an icy sorbet (basically puree the watermelon, freeze in a shallow dish and scrape it regularly with a fork as it's freezing).
If you have an at-home ice cream maker like @thatbaintforbetty mentioned, you're only limited by your ingredients. Real ice cream starts with a cooked creme anglaise base, but you can do easy recipes that dont require that step and fruit sorbets or frozen yogurt as well.
@ashtuesday Halotop can be great or totally unsatisfactory. I considered it today at the grocery store then there was magically ice cream in the freezer.
@kbirchtree OMG I am in the same boat!! I also have celiac and I want Chinese food soooo badly. I haven't intentionally eaten gluten since getting diagnosed 4 years ago... But if I don't know how terrible it was for baby then I might give in. I think we'll just make some. I got excited when I first heard about PF Chang's gluten free (our nearest is about 1.5hrs), but it doesn't look like they offer the breaded stuff that way, and that's what I really want!! Like orange chicken or sesame chicken...mmmmmm!!!!
I have to eat pancakes every morning for breakfast (GF, from a mix from Trader Joe's). Tried waffles yesterday and baby rejected them, apparently they are not welcome in my body right now!
I also loooovvveeee fruit right now, and I've been drinking soda regularly for the first time in my life. Like we've had to actually stop just to get me one (or sparkling fruit juice). When I'm nauseous (and generally) it's just the best :-)
@molecularmolly Mmmm. Ginger ale! I haven't drank soda since I was a kid but i agree, the cold and carbonation is so good. I have to hide them from my kids though because we don't drink soda in the house, only special occasions.
I've been constantly craving sourdough bread toasted with butter and homemade jam. It is the most amazing thing to me right now and I swear I've had 4 pieces already today. Nothing that I absolutely can't have anymore, thankfully the nausea has died down significantly this week.
I just want whatever is on someone else’s plate. I didn’t want a salad yesterday until DH was eating one. I’ve been sharing food with DD: chicken nuggets, PB&J. I want all the cereal. Popsicles.
If someone mentions something I want it. Recent examples, ramen 🍜, pickles, cookie dough, pizza.
@kbirchtree every time I make Chinese at home, it reminds me that I have no clue how to make any of the sauces. Gotta work on that.
Get the ingredients.... rice wine vinegar sesame oil Soy sauce Murin
And find a new recipe I like Mongolian beef and I’m working on a gluten free orange chicken that I like. The last one was too orange not zesty/spicy enough.
@molecularmolly you would really regret it if you ate it. Last time I ended up in er because of the pain. (I was glutened by accident, who puts soy sauce in baked beans!!)
I’ve found that Pamela’s pancake mix with added salt and less water makes a great fry batter. Then you can make a sauce and have what ever you want
@thatbaintforbetty I have one of those and looove it. I like to do bananas with chocolate chips. It’s really easy to clean, too.
I got home from work today and ate four bean and cheese tacos. FOUR. All of this after not having an appetite all day. Now that I’m thinking about it, I’ve completely lost my appetite for the most part. And then at 11 pm I’m starving.
@sdelg09 Good to know! I especially like easy to clean. Our apartment has a tiny kitchen with like no storage so I’m trying to hold off on extra kitchen gadgets till I get more space.

@thatbaintforbetty never even heard of it. But I’m off to google.
@kangstadt granitas are another food I mostly see on Food Network, so that would be fun to try out. Maybe lemon, like homemade Del’s.
