@DuchessOfCambridge I agree as well. I teach my son anatomically correct body parts. The other night he asked where my penis was, and I explained that I don't have one and only boys do. He asked what I have and I said I have a vagina. Honestly I thought it was hilarious hearing him try to pronounce it. But I feel like WE put the "ew" factor into the word. He was totally unphased, that was just the word for there not being a penis. Seconds later we were talking about a completely different topic. He hasn't brought it up since.
But I'm also in the medical field, so maybe that's why 😂 I think any other word, cutsie or otherwise is gross.
@eatinwatermelonseeds@DuchessOfCambridge@journey721 oh, I totally agree I’m not calling it something it’s not. I was taught to call my vagina a “chippie” and my nephew was taught to his penis a “dinger”. Looking back at it, it’s weird. I’ll bebusing anatomically correct words with my kiddos. But I was also in the medical field at one point, as well.
@wishiwaspreggo congrats!!!!! My brother and sister are twins and I’ve always wanted to have twins, too. I’m sure it’s overwhelming but I bet you adjust to the idea quickly!
thank you all for your sweet words on my last post, I’m terrible about keeping up here (especially with this exhaustion, whew) but I’m trying to be better!
we had two scans last week, our last with our RE and our first with our OB! I’m going to miss these weekly scans, I will have one more next week for NT screening but then I think that’s it until 20 weeks which makes me sad, haha. Our OB had a new ultrasound machine and it was so crazy how clear it was! Baby was doing somersaults and moving all around, still measuring right on track and looking perfect!

@eatinwatermelonseeds@mrskoz428 I was never taught to call it anything 😂 had to learn all that at school. Our plan right now is to teach DS correct anatomical terms and if he asks about sex to explain it in a very no big deal anatomically correct way as well. I’m kind of hoping if I make it sound as boring and scienctific as possible, he’ll lose interest. But he’s 11 months and only currently says “dadada” so I’ve got a while before I need to worry.
@DuchessOfCambridge I think that's a good plan, kids are only looking for the most basic answer when they ask questions. At least for a while. They're not looking for a long talk about birds and bees. I just handle his questions very matter of fact and he loses interest rather quickly. As long as it makes sense he's just like "oh, okay." Sex has not come up, but I should probably prepare a super simple answer for him so I'm not caught off guard. Right now I could probably just change the subject and he wouldnt notice, but I do want to address his questions as he asks, so I should get prepared.
@DuchessOfCambridge I agree, and it shouldn’t bother me, but for some reason the word just sounds kind of cringy to me. Not really vagina, but “vag” or “vaginal” or most of all “transvaginal” just sounds weird when rolling off the tongue. It’s like saying moist lol it’s weird
@psychobutthead okay maybe we can stick with transvaginal 😂 I’ll just have to get used to it. Uncomfortable name for an uncomfortable device lol
New mommy to be! EDD: 05/27/19 hoping for a girl!!!

@mrskoz428 Most (but not all) will have a transvaginal early on - not scientific but the NT will be abdominal which is usually at 12 weeks so I doubt you'll have another transvaginal one.
I'm starting to wonder if my OB scheduled my NT too soon. I'll be 9w5d on the day of the NT yet I read it's usually done 10-12 weeks. Anyone else have it that early?
@mamajojo1981 the form from my OB (it's all done through the state of CA) says the ultrasound has to be done between 11+2 and 14+1, allow a 3 day margin of error, and 12 weeks is highly recommended. Maybe call and ask.

8w1d measuring 7w4d so a bit behind but not enough to write home about per my ob. Saw and heard the heartbeat at 160. DH and I teared up instantly. It's our first time getting to hear a heartbeat with three pregnancies.
@kbeers13 my son measured 5 days behind and they changed my due date. He came 3 weeks early and was over 7lbs. I swear his first ultrasound was wrong. Basically, +\- that close together is no big deal.
Hi, ladies! Wanted to wait until my US to post 😊 due May 24! My second baby. can anyone tell me what that sac looking thing under the baby is? It was rather big when we went. *also looks like there’s another baby in there. 😂*

I had an ultrasound today at 9 weeks 6 days. Baby measured 1 day behind but has been going ahead and behind often. The nurse kept waiting for the baby to move and of course it didn’t so I am slightly panicked about that, but heartbeat looked great! The dark lumpy thing at the top is my SCH which is so much smaller and healing which is a massive relief! Hoping next week baby moves so I can feel a bit more confident going forward.
Got our first look at baby yesterday! When we went in 3 weeks ago all he could see was the gestational sac so seeing baby and a good heartbeat was a huge relief! I also got my EDD adjusted to 5/21 (was 5/24). I just need to make it 3 more weeks and I can get my cerclage and make sure this kid stays put!
@wishiwaspreggo, WOW! Congrats! I’m sure the news was a shock, but I’m confident you and your wife will adjust to the idea and totally rock this. @BWhitta, congrats on “graduating” to the OB! That’s a good looking US. I’m also getting killed by the fatigue this week...been barely able to keep my eyes open most nights and have barely been on the app/site. @kbeers13 and @jkduer, congrats on the great scans. Hope things continue to go well!
Here's my little gummy bear.. this was 2 weeks ago. I'm now 10w 2 days. This will be #2 for us. DS just turned 6 so quite the age gap. Been feeling so sick since week 5 and really ready to start feeling more like myself again.... soon hopefully!
Baby measuring 10 weeks 5 days so I am now officially due May 11th. We couldn’t find the heartbeat on the Doppler which is totally normal at this stage so I got a little bonus peek at baby. Heart rate 169 music to my ears!
First time posting, first time mom! This US is from our first appointment on 9/24, so my EDD is May 16. DH and I were thrilled to see the heartbeat! Our next appointment is next Friday for the NT and blood tests - I'm having trouble waiting. I want to see our little nugget again!
@sheenabear22 Congrats! My DD will be 6 about 10 days before my due date, so we've got the age gap too. I really they they are going to be super helpers though! Have you told your son yet?
@sheenabear22 and @GeorgiaGirl1230. My daughter will be 6 three months after this baby is born so big gap here as well. I agree that she will be a big help and I am looking forward to being able to spend quality time with this baby while she is at school.

@mrskoz My ultrasound at 6 weeks was transvaginal. It’s pretty typical early on. That should be the only one you have though.
@mamajojo1981 That seems early. My on office usually schedules them around 12 or 13 weeks.
@kbeers13 Yay! That’s so awesome!

@kbeers so glad for you! That's exactly how my DD measured when we first went in. All was perfect!
@keighty80 I'm so happy you got to see baby and all is well!!
