Aww shoot @madreofdragons at mine they haven't done this any other time except for the AS. I was actually a little mad because my hubby was grabbing coffee when they called him so he got a little less time viewing her. But at least they printed out 18 pics for us!
Did anybody else think their baby’s head seemed kind of oblong? Tech didn’t mention anything and I don’t remember noticing DD’s. I don’t remember if they’re shaped that way at this gestation.
AS today baby was chill and had no intention of cooperating. Didn't get a good look at the spine nor the face. The cord was blocking the view of his face.
If it weren't for the NIPT, we wouldn't know it's a boy due to his steadfast refusal to uncross his legs.
We go back in a couple weeks to see if we can get the images doc wants.
*Edit: got a call about an hourafterh the scan asking us to come back next week. Doc is concerned about the level of amniotic fluid.
“My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? It rather denotes a lack of courage." - Aunt Frances”
Had my scan yesterday. All was great, because it was a level 2 because of GD they checked the heart and pretty much all the organs in detail. It was neat seeing everything and everything looked great.
We are still team green, baby was measuring in the 59th percentile for size so far. The MFM specialist wanted a consistent due date since I've been given a few based on my LMP, then my first U/S and then a second scan with my regular OB. We went with February 17th. It was the 20th before that.
Otherwise all was great! Going back for a Growth scan at 33 weeks and then I start weekly profiles/growth scans at 36 weeks.
Also how in the world are some of us halfway! Time is flying!
I had my scan yesterday. Everything looked fine. They were able to get all measurements except for one because she refuses to uncurl from being in a ball. She was also sitting right on my bladder which explains a lot. 😂
The only thing that kind of worries me was that baby was measuring a week a head, so 20 weeks instead of 19. I know it may be silly to worry about that slight difference, but since this is my first everything is new. Did anyone else’s baby measure bigger at the anatomy scan? Did this go on to mean anything such as issues or an earlier birth than expected?

My baby measured a week ahead at mine, too. The OB said that's normal, because babies grow at different rates in the second and third trimesters, and the 20 week scan isn't a reliable indicator for birth weight or size. It also doesn't change the due date, as fetal size at 20 weeks is not consistent among everyone at the same gestational age. The OB said that early ultrasounds (I had one at 8 weeks) are able to date the pregnancy much more accurately, and the 20 week is just to check for anomalies. If your OB or MW is concerned about the size, they'll probably do more tests. You can also ask at your next appointment!
My scan is Tuesday, doing a level 2 and then fetal echo following week. I'm nervous bc this LO has been way less mobile than my first. DD was in there playing soccer most days. My doc was monitoring me in case she broke a rib bc she kicked so hard and so much. She did bruise 2 of my ribs the last few weeks. So this kid not being real active freaks me out. Plus I've got everything crossed his fetal echo is clear. Though DD was clear too- they didn't find her CHD til 3mos, so. Just hoping for all good news.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
Same here - DS measured big and was 8lbs 12oz when he was born at 41 weeks, this baby is measuring big too. Ultimately they moved my due date with DS up a week, but they very rarely do that. Nothing to stress about at this point!
@smallbutmighty77 I know it can make you worry but every baby is different in regards to activity. DD was was less active than this baby is already. With both I had an anterior placenta too so I just think it depends on the baby. Plus it’s still early in regards to feeling a ton of movement. Hope everything goes great with your scan and echo!
I had the AS on Monday, still team green! Baby had its head down as low as it could go and chin tucked to chest despite the tech's effort to get it to move by prodding me with the US wand (I think I've got bruises). So we have to reschedule so we can get images of the brain. The tech also said based off the last US and this one EDD is Feb 18, not 13th based off LMP, not that it's a big deal but I need to remember to ask about it at my next appointment
@smallbutmighty77 everything crossed for your fetal echo! Our DD’s heart issues weren’t diagnosed until after she was born either, but it still feels good to have the all-clear on these early echos!
My anatomy scan looked good! And we are having a BOY! In full truth we were Hoping for a girl since we have 3 nephews and they are all really naughty but I know it’s mostly bc of their parents! I’ll take any cute boy stories! Overall we are just thrilled it’s healthy and on track. I do have an anterior placenta that is thankfully pretty high up. But baby is head down so kicking right into my placenta and that’s probably why I am not feeling much.

@JamieH2000 I was a tiny bit bummed when we found out DS was a boy. But baby boys are so wonderful. Nobody loves their mama like a little boy! He’s such a sweet pea, and totally my little snuggle bug (even though he’s wild and crazy). Now that we’re having a girl for our second we’re so nervous! I promise you’ll LOVE being a boy mom. 💙
@JamieH2000 - my boy is ALL BOY but my goodness does he love his momma SO MUCH. He’s such a sweet, kind boy who also likes to wrestle and growl like a bear. I’m so excited to have a second boy! You’ll love being a boy mom!
@JamieH2000 my boy and my girl are both pains in my butt, if that’s any consolation.
This is #3 for us and the first time we’ve waited to find out until delivery. I don’t have a feeling either way but after spending lots of time with my 12/9 year old nieces, part of me hopes that it’s another boy because girls are a nightmare when they’re closing in on puberty haha
@grebresto- congrats on the healthy boy! How are you guys feeling about it?! That is neat to have someone else due on the exact same day with the same gender as me
@bourbonbiscuits, @okayestmom12, @cmjenkies- thank so much for your comments and sharing! It really does help to hear from other boy moms. The whole boy mom thing makes me excited since I know it’s a special bond, but I am trying not to talk about it to much bc surprisingly my husband wanted a girl too since our friends girls have been so drawn to him and so sweet. He will hopefully be an amazing girl dad someday but for now I know he will love our boy SO much. I realize there is still gender inequality in 2018 but in reality both girls and boys can do most anything they want now a days and that is comforting to me. Honestly the hardest part about registering was just seeing how much more cute little girl cloths and accessories there were but I know in the long run a boy will be much simpler from that aspect! More cloths and mani/pedis for me I guess and more toy airplanes and quad copters and remote control cars for my husband (which he is already using as an excuse to buy all the things he didn’t get when he was little)

@JamieH2000- I hear ya. With my first, I thought it was a girl, had visions of having a girl, sort of like @grebretso, and was so certain I even completely convinced my SO it was a girl. Welp, NIPT and voila a boy, and we were SHOCKED, and frankly I cried a fair bit, for a while, to different people, so I took it worse than you! Buuuut... The love I have for my son since the second he was born has been unlike anything I have ever imagined existing. My two year old boy is a snuggly, smart, funny, goofy, energetic, did I mention snuggly, wonder. Your son will be magic. I am so into mine that when I found out my second (and last-i'm 42 FFS!) will also be a boy, I only had a little twinge of "I'll never know what it's like to have a daughter," because really I am excited to have two sweet boys (knock on wood number 2 is a little lovebug too ).
@JamieH2000 I am going to be a boy mom too. I thought it was a boy, but wasn’t totally certain until confirmation because like your DH, mine also does well with baby girls. But, I’ve already nicknamed myself “the queen” of the family lol!! I hear you on the lack of clothes cuteness but there’s gotta be cute baby boy stuff out there right?!? Maybe we will just have to dig to find it.
@ohsunnydays- My son is obsessed with having a ponytail in his (short) hair (so it ends up being one sticking up on top of his head), so don't rule out some things you might expect to be girl things. My son sees it at daycare and wants it no matter what!
3x boy mom here. Trust me, there are plenty of ways to make them cute! For the past 9 years my house has been full of baseball hats, jerseys and camo. I have very athletic, outdoorsy boys that enjoy baseball, football and wrestling and I've found I'm a great cheerleader! I've spent countless hours building legos which I've got to admit I love! The best part is that they're the first ones by my side if something is wrong. When I get a migraine they jump right into action with ice packs and they even do scalp massages to help. It's the sweetest. Each time I come home from a work trip there is a welcome home message from them in sidewalk chalk outside the garage. This is the one that's got me nervous! I'm so used to having boys I'm not sure how different it'll be! But I'm looking forward to it!
With my kids going to be only 18mo apart, I am glad this one is a boy. I feel like they might not be as competitive with each other. Different things to like, teams to be on etc.

I think I might officially be the last for the anatomy scan. October 15. I’m typically a super nervous person about stuff like this and I know it’s only a week away but dang now that it’s close I’m getting nervous and curious if everything is okay.
@lzzfrancisco Do you have an online patient portal you can access? I never got a call about mine but the full report was available in my record and I could log in to read it.
@JamieH2000 Yeah, what if we end up having our boys on the same day? That would be pretty funny!
We feel good about having a boy! I had no preference either way, but I had a feeling it was a boy and had been calling him "him" for a while before we found out. Then I had that weird dream @sjnsjnsjn mentioned about it being a girl, and I was like "hmm... now I kind of want a girl" haha. But I'm very happy!
H was slightly leaning towards wanting a girl, but I know he's happy too. He's excited because it'll be the third generation of first born boys in his family. We're already joking about our boy not looking anything like me, because H looks exactly like his dad, and his dad looks exactly like his dad again. I already think it looks like our little guy has H's nose and profile! I'm fine with that, it's a family of very good looking men.
