All the non-science false reporting that roundup in cereals causes cancer really irritates me and gave me a craving for Lucky Charms. Now I'm munching on Lucky Charms, which I rarely eat, at my desk at work. So good.
I am already behind on work emails from being out of the office meeting with customers yesterday, but of course it's Friday and I fully intend to stop working at lunch and build myself a shoe rack to go by my back door.

thanks @lulu1180 and @lcking82 luckily it's not as sad as it sounds, I confessed a few weeks ago on here that I ordered all of them because of an Amazon coupon glitch that made them free. I'm still holding out hope for a baby but I have a cloth diaper stash so even if we get lucky we still don't have a use for them I just couldn't resist, because, free.

@coco2787 so sorry. at least diapers don’t expire I suppose. At least not that I am aware.
I have zero good confessions this week. But I am now going to go look at the bumpadmin profile to read up on the shut down threads for my flame fix. Thanks for the tip @marebear15
@coco2787 You comment broke my heart but I'm also ALL ABOUT taking advantage when there's a good opportunity
I had an interview this week for a non-profit health organization that I'm really interested in. In the interview the hiring manager asked me how their cause affected me personally. I was caught off guard by this question and quickly came up wit "actually my grandfather passed away from xxx disease 15 years ago, so it's greatly affected our family" Which. was. not. true. He did pass away, but from a different disease.
So then I had to quickly call my mother (who also works at this organization) and tell her "If anyone from HR contacts you.... I told them Grandpa died of xxx disease. I'm sorry! I panicked!"
@lulu1180 - Ha! I had to look that up on Urban Dictionary. I'm really out of touch with slang, which you'd think I wouldn't be working with college students.
My confession: I'm really mean to robo callers. If I answer a call and it's Tim from Weatherby Windows or Janice from Aloha Vacations I just hang up. If it's Jared from Hyundai and he wants to sell me a warranty I let him tell me his spiel, agree to get on board, and after I give him enough information I hang up. Such a scam, they deserve it for wasting people's money on a useless product that's not even affiliated with the manufacturer.
@marebear15 I've never thought of doing that @lulu1180 also a great suggestion. @coco2787 oh no!, but seriously a good deal is a good deal. would it be wrong to sell them?
eta: my FFFC (which in all honesty are usually lame) I am making ZERO effort to do any work today and when some one asked me if I was busy I said yes, but I spent my morning ordering wool socks on zuilly.

@coco2787 that must feel like a punch in the gut, I am so sorry you had to deal with all those packages. @lulu1180 thanks for the tip on where to find some entertainment/flaming. There goes my productivity for this afternoon!
My FFFC is lame but it's blasphemy here in New England: football season hasn't started yet and I am already tired of Tom Brady and the Patriots. Seriously, why are TB's Instagram posts always considered newsworthy? "Up next at 6:00, we have the GOAT on a horse!" SMH
Saturday evening after we were done moving what we were moving for the day, I realized I forgot my dog's food, and although it was only 6, I was way too tired/lazy to go and get it, so I gave her cat food, which just made her sick, so I fed her tortillas.
And, not being one to turn down free food, once she was full, she wandered the house with an uneaten one forever trying to find somewhere to hide it.
Apparently she doesn't like them, because now I give her a tortilla rvetu day because her little confused face while she tries to decide where to put it amuses me.
@nomangos23 I literally just laughed out loud at your confession! And completely understandable -- I would have panicked too.
@coco2787 Awe I'm sorry. I'm sure that really stung seeing them come. But 100% you can't pass down a great deal like that. Free is free!
I have no real FFFC. If I had to choose one... even though drive-bys and all that crap annoy me, I do get some enjoyment out of seeing the creative responses you ladies give. Whoever said the "my favorite tests are by far the positive ones" a week or so ago killed me dead. Too funny.
To go off of @jhems776, organic food is a joke and there is so much science behind that. Stop bragging you eat organic, IDGAF about your "luxury apple", Karen. You got tricked into buying a more expensive apple for no reason. Enjoy.
I somehow did not properly put my tampon in this morning. I was running around and suddenly felt very odd "down there". Ya, because my tampon was falling out! So uncomfortable and I wasn't by a bathroom for a loooong time.
@jhems776 I hadn't head that about cereal. I do remember something going around a year or so ago about baby carrots being "soaked" in chlorine and people freaking out.
My luxury organic apple is cheaper than regular apples where I live. Funny, an organic apple by definition is considered a peasant apple. I'd love to see the science behind why organic food is a joke. Here is a link with many scientific studies linked in proving that organic food isn't a joke. Yes, there isn't a consensus so far as to which is more nutritious, overall.
But why would I want to eat something that has been sprayed with synthetic chemicals over naturally sourced pesticides? Why would I want to eat something that has been injected with preservatives just because they look 'prettier'.
To each their own, but at the very least, science does prove that eating organic produce does maximize antioxidant and micronutrient benefits. And A LOT of science agrees that it's best to minimize processed foods in general because it can increase the risk of things such as cancer. I love science but it has gotten a lot of things wrong when it comes to women and their reproductive health.

@suzycupcake thanks for sharing the article, it was an interesting read. As for my thinking: first, I took some nutrition courses for my undergrad degree and every single one discussed organic food and how it’s not any better than nonorganic. I also read a great article a few months ago on organic vs nonorganic, if I can find it again I’ll share.
@suzycupcake I found it. It’s from March 2018. It mentioned the studies the article you shared references. The antioxidant levels weren’t significant, the natural pesticides often contain the same ingredients as synthetic, and organic farming can actually be worse for the environment - some of the methods emit MORE greenhouse gases. I do agree with you on organic animal farming being better (I’m all for paying more for eggs if the chickens can actually have more space) but produce, not so much. Again, if you like organic just because, that’s fine! I think it’s important to understand it all and not just take it at face value. (And that includes science - peer review is so important!)
I'm ready to be flamed too. I agree with @whiteswanblackswan. I think the organic food movement is a marketing ploy to get you to pay more for your food. I'm not saying they're NOT better for you, but I think consumerism and capitalism have a lot to do with their popularity.
It’s not a ploy to avoid toxic chemicals imo + supporting local farmers who use more environmentally sustainable methods. I’ll take more expensive produce that ripened on a farm over the flavorless chemical coated mass produce any day.
@mamanbebe the article I shared talks about how the majority of organic farming is done by big corps, not local farmers. But, it also goes on to say buying local is great, organic or not, and I agree with that personally as well. Supporting local business is definitely important.
I generally go for organic, but my parents have always grown many of our fruits and veggies, plus we have chickens and stuff.
Honestly, I don't read the research, but pesticides and GMOs scare me . What is the cause of the increase in food allergies and such? (I don't deny other possible reasons such as abtiobantib and over cleanliness.) Many professionals also claim there is an increase in autism too (not convinced personally, it could be possible differences in diagnostic criteria/awareness) but if there is an increase, why?
Also, what happens with the ugly fruits/veggies? I hate to think of all that waste
I’m sure that what you find at Kroger, Safeway, Fred Meyer, etc is definitely corporate farming. And if anything is a marketing ploy it is what comes out of corporate farms, which receive kickbacks from agrochem producers. Like you and I both agree, I prefer to support local farms over what is sold at the big chains but I still think organic is better, given the reduction of harmful chemicals and antibiotics. I grew up with a parent working for big ag-chem and it put blinders on me for decades, thinking that they were just trying to keep up with population growth but that in itself is just a ploy to monopolize the food industry with poison as it’s backbone. I often wonder how many of my health issues have stemmed from being surrounded by herbicides and pesticides for half of my life. Often it was stockpiled in my house before going to distributors. Obviously a touchy subject for me haha.. sorry to snap a bit.
This is a great topic to discuss. We can all learn from each other.

I can’t comment on plant-based foods but @whiteswanblackswan your friendly TTGP veterinarian would just like to point out that organically farmed animal products is NOT the same as increased animal welfare! It’s frustating that this is the common assumption but that’s how it’s marketed so I don’t blame you or others than think that is the case.
For example, my chickens free range on multiple acres and hand excellent welfare. However, they are not considered organic by legal standards (I feed them non-organic feed and would use things like antibiotics or pain medications if needed). Organic means that certain things (mostly focusing on medications) are not used to care for the animals. (I personally think a sick animal should have access to antibiotics if indicated, but that’s my [personal and professional] opinion.)
I will add that I don't think organic has more nutritional value, I didn't realize anyone did? Although, I could argue that there is some truth to it, since organic produce doesn't have as long of a shelf life, therefore is not as old and therefore doesn't lose as much nutrients.
@lulu1180 Best. thing. Ever. I needed that so so much.
My FFC is I refused to let an older couple go ahead of me at costco because I really wanted to get thru the till so I could get a poutine lol. I lied to them and said I was running late for work which is why I couldn't let them go ahead of me. it was a lie forsure but once I got in my car I got a call back from a job I had interviewed for yesterday and found out I got the job alls well that ends well lol

Best. thing. Ever.
I needed that so so much.
My FFC is I refused to let an older couple go ahead of me at costco because I really wanted to get thru the till so I could get a poutine lol.
I lied to them and said I was running late for work which is why I couldn't let them go ahead of me. it was a lie forsure but once I got in my car I got a call back from a job I had interviewed for yesterday and found out I got the job
