So my question is if anyone has had low amniotic fluid is this or a previous pregnancy? If so, how far along where you? What did you do to help? I am seeing my clinic on friday, so I'll talk to them about it then. The ER Dr didn't mention it, but it was in the report I picked up today.
@Kenneylynn3 I don’t have personal experience but I’ve read that drinking lots of fluids and getting lots of rest is recommended. Good luck and hope you get lots of useful information at your appointment on Friday.
STM+ crew: I find myself involuntarily/subconsciously sucking in my stomach sometimes, which usually results in a dull ache when I let it go. As someone with hardly any symptoms, it's a nice reminder that "something" is happening in there. As of late, the ache has gone away whenever I do that! Any idea why? Could this be a result of everything having moved out of the pelvis? I'm 17 + 3 and I'd say it's felt that way for the last week or so. I'm not really alarmed by it, just curious
@Kenneylynn3 I had low amniotic fluid last pregnancy. Started around 25 weeks. They just monitored it closely. She did end up being a C-section cause she was breach and they figured with the low fluid she didn’t really have room to turn. I did notice it was worse/lower fluid during a period of time where I was really stressed, it got better with some relaxation.
@indigoheightsblog could it be round ligament pain? It seems like every feeling right now is round ligament pain lol. I just think if you're sucking in then release, your ligaments or uterus might ache as they stretch back out. Now that you're further along, it might be more stretched out and not ache anymore? Just a guess
With my first, the next thing that started to get achy was my rib cage as everything moved up and out. So maybe that's next for you too!
has anyone had vaginal soreness? i don't really know how to describe it. kind of like after a lot of sex (but we haven't had sex). its an awkward feeling, i remember pressure with #1 but i don't remember this.
18 weeks today, and i'm having quite a bit of pelvic pressure tonight. i assume it's just everything stretching and moving but boy does it suck. @lovesclimbing i think i recall you mentioning this happening to you... has anyone been experiencing this? any tips on how to feel better? it's like a dull throb... worse when i'm moving but still comes and goes even when i sit
@indigoheightsblog I had some of this earlier tonight as well. I found emptying my bladder (maybe it was putting pressure) and turning to one side helped.
@indigoheightsblog I was experiencing this the other night. I was at a friend’s house, and then drove an hour home so there wasn’t much I could do about it at the time, and fortunately it was gone when I woke up the next morning. BUT, I’ve been doing some reading, and next time I get the same thing, I plan on trying to do some light abdominal stretching on an exercise ball. If you have one (or maybe leaning on the couch would do), kneel in front of the ball in a comfortable position, place your arms at the top of the ball, and gently roll forward while taking deep breaths. You can stay in this position for as long as it feels comfortable. You can also do a version where you gently stretch to each side. Screenshot of the stretch in the spoiler. Cat-cow stretches might help too. I’ve haven’t tried these while feeling the abdominal “growing pain”, but they do feel good as everyday stretches so maybe it’ll help?
@indigoheightsblog I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and I've been feeling this for many weeks now. For me, the pressure definitely gets worse when I have to pee even a tiny bit. Unfortunately, aside from peeing frequently, I haven't really thought to find a way to deal with it and just assumed it was inevitable. I'm also barely showing at all yet so I think my organs must be insanely rearranged which could be why I've been feeling his pressure for so long? Sorry I can't provide any tips but I can at least sympathize!
Hmm, idk that I would describe mine as pressure so much. Honestly, not much helped except sitting or lying down and not moving around a lot. I didn't try a lot of stuff either though.
I've been having pressure/ pain but it feels like its the bones down there. I assume it's because they're shifting around in preparation for birth. I remember the same feeling from postpartum (except it was much more painful then when they were going back into place).
Okay this is a little random but, what's the verdict on visiting things like haunted houses/haunted corn mazes while pregnant? I just had an appointment with my doctor and forgot to ask, and the next won't be until after Halloween. I go every year and love them, I'm not easily scared so I'm not worried about stress levels. Any thoughts, opinions, experiences?
@heatherarbuck This never even crossed my mind. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t do those types of things. I pretty much do everything I normally do aside from obvious things like drinking.
@heatherarbuck I’m no doctor, but I think you’ll be fine. I think when people talk about stress, it’s mostly long term high stress situations. Everyone stresses to some degree. Hell, preparing for a baby is stressful! Enjoy your haunted house.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@heatherarbuck as the other ladies said, unless you have a heart condition that would otherwise preclude you from going, I can’t imagine it being an issue. I do know some of the super intense haunted houses won’t allow pregnant ladies, though. So, if you’re going to a hardcore haunted house, maybe check in advance!
@heatherarbuck I have been watching scary movies without a second thought. I think those types of thrills are common enough that if it were harmful, it would be part of the usual things-to-avoid talk we all get or there would be a disclaimer on the ride saying it's not recommended for pregnant women
@Kenneylynn3 mine went back to pre pregnancy size, but they were not the same after breastfeeding. I ended up buying several new bras because the shape of them were just...different.
@Kenneylynn3 I'm the same as @mamaoftwomonkeys. They definitely got smaller after I started only night nursing, but they are not the same at all. I got away with wearing my pre-pregnancy bra for months but it never fit the same. They're just... different. Like my entire body postpartum (hips, knuckles, feet all also changed sizes).
@Kenneylynn3 post Bf my boobs were actually slightly smaller than pre-baby, and lacking their previous volume/fullness. I always jokingly referred to them as deflated water balloons.
@Kenneylynn3 I agree with all the post-breastfeeding moms here. The good news is that they *eventually* go back to almost-normal. My first time it took 2.5 years after stopping nursing before they seemed normal again but so grateful it finally happened!
@Kenneylynn3 Mine went down a bit after I weaned my daughter, but not to their prepregnancy size. Prepregnancy I was a B, during breastfeeding I wore a DD, after weaning I wore a D.
@Kenneylynn3 I was a D pre-pregnancy, F during the end of pregnancy/breastfeeding (I have small frame so I seriously looked like a porn star), and ended at a C. I like my post-breastfeeding boobs the best, they're way more mellow.
I would say in general, everything changes. I lost a pants size but went up a shirt size haha
@Kenneylynn3 Mine are mostly the same, maybe a little smaller. I only BF for 3-4 months though. Pre-pregnancy I was a B/C, toward the end of pregnancy, I was a C/D and while BFing, DD.
The rest of my body is pretty much the same, but the only thing that really changed during pregnancy were my boobs and obviously my stomach.
@Kenneylynn3 I was a 34C prepregnancy, I started postpartum at a 34DD, and after a year of breastfeeding I was between a C and D. When you are full and waiting for LO to eat to pump they are bigger and after they kinda “deflate”. After bf I am now a 32C again but I agree with the others ... they are definitely different and more “deflated” not nearly as perky.
does anyone have and good recs for full coverage underwear? boyshorts or something? maternity underwear seems expensive, but I need something with coverage to so this support thing i have to wear doesn't rub my skin.
Last pregnancy I just bought a size up of high waisted briefs that were comfy and cheap (I want to say they were fruit of the loom). Not attractive, but helpful for later pregnancy/early postpartum.
I bought a pack at target in my last pregnancy specifically for postpartum. They have now become my go-to for sleeping/lounging around the house they are Hanes X-Temp.
I’ve been so sick this week with one nasty cold and now the coughing and dry/scratchy throat stage has begun. Everywhere I’ve read says different things about cough drops being okay during pregnancy or not.... I can call my doctor tomorrow (Monday) but any thoughts?? I’m dyinggggg.
@tennisbabymama I’m not at home to check my “safe list” but I know for sure plain sudafed (you have to sign for it at the pharmacy) is safe and Tylenol. I am pretty sure cough drops are fine but I’m sure someone will else may be home with a safe list near them. Hope you get some relief soon!!
@tennisbabymama I’ve been using Luden’s throat drops like they have been going out of style, but I’m not sure about mentholated ones or ones with other ingredients.
@tennisbabymama cough drops are on my safe list from my doctor but they ended up not helping me much so I stopped taking them. Try salt water gargle, saline nose spray, or tea with honey. I found these to be helpful at least for a time. I slept with a bunch of pillows propping me up so I wasn't flat and mucus couldn't settle in my throat as easily. Hope you feel better! Being sick during pregnancy is the worst!
@tennisbabymama i used cough drops, safe per my obs. the neti pot things are super helpful too, imo. helps with the post nasal drip too. and safe. i use afrin as well. didn't ask my ob but felt it was low risk.
@litzi-2 Not judging at all, but my doc told me no afrin, only saline spray.
@tennisbabymama I had an awful cold recently and nothing really helped. I took sudafed once and it didn’t do anything so I stuck with Tylenol for when I had an actual fever.
Hello ladies, We just went for our 20 weeks anatomy scan, our boy baby weighs around 14 oz. Nurse did say thats 59% average weight and she refuse to say anything else when I asked her if that's underweight or overweight. Do you guys have got any kind of details?
Our baby was 11 oz at the 20 week. These are all estimations, and ultrasound estimations are notoriously inaccurate.
I assume 59% means the baby was in the 59th percentile. So that means, out of 100 babies at their 20 week scan, your baby is larger than 58 of them and smaller than 41 of them. The 50th percentile means half the babies in the US are bigger and half are smaller. So your baby is slightly large on average. But that's not "overweight" or "underweight." There are babies smaller and larger all down the scale. It's not anything to be concerned about.

As as you can tell, everyone is different.
