It's cold and rainy here today, I seriously wish I could have stayed home in warm pajamas all day. Unfortunately instead I am sitting at work wishing I could nap.
I have to complain here for a minute. My dog has IBS and is having flare up right now. So I am chasing my two year old toddler because he is being a little monster today and chasing my dog around trying to prevent him from shitting all over my house all the while I have terrible morning sickness and I’m trying not to puke..is it 4 yet?!?!

Just found out the judge granted my request on something that was a pretty big deal. The brief I submitted was awesome, and although I'm the only that knows this, even more impressive given my current incapacity to form complex thoughts. I'm a little bummed that my colleagues don't know just how impressed I am with myself right now
I am perpetually exhausted and am embarrassed to admit how much I look forward to my afternoon nap. Thank goodness for a DS that still naps and a DD I can toss a Kindle to and say “if you love mommy, you’ll let her sleep”.
I also called the OB today. I had called them about a month ago as it’s a new practice and set up a meet the doc appt for 7/2. They said to keep the 7/2 appt and then they’ll have me come back for an u/s after that (I won’t even be 6w on 7/2 so I’d rather do that then attempt a super early u/s).
@kayjay44 I am. I work for the government and do mostly litigation with some land use and miscellaneous stuff mixed in. I keep saying I would be happy to never take another deposition in my life, but my husband thinks I like to argue too much to give it up. He's probably right...

All I do is argue law school is still on my radar - I’m pretty young. For now I’m a transactional paralegal for a software company. Lots of arguing when negotiating agreements. And I usually win
Both my parents are lawyers and owned their own firms at one point. If you wanted something growing up, you had to argue your case. Curfew, allowance, dress you liked but mom didn't for a dance... So people always think I'm a lawyer bc I can argue with anyone on anything and win. It has been a helpful skill.
TW: 1 infant loss 8/17: Our daughter was born 8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass 2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old 4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
@madreofdragons Unfortunately he's not wrong. Sometimes I even annoy myself
@kayjay44 It's never too late for law school. And being an attorney is mostly awesome
Thanks - I figure even if I don't graduate until I'm 40, I still have 25 years left to work... I just gotta get a few of these kids in school first. Daycare for 2 (and soon to be 3) is killer.
@kayjay44 I'm right there with you on day care. We basically pay a second mortgage for our 2 and they only go three days a week. We would have to sell our house if we had to pay for three kids to go full time. I'm in the bay area (California), and it's so expensive.

We'll be paying almost $4000 a month until DD starts school in September (so like 4 months). After that, it will drop by $1000 a month. This too shall pass and some day we will have disposable income again.
It hurts to say the numbers out loud... we have a year to get through with all three before my son starts kindergarten. He's a November baby so we get to do a year of TK. Thank god it's only 3 days a week
I feel like we're really lucky that they only go three days a week. They have a lot of fun and they learn so much. But jeez, it's expensive. Then again, you couldn't pay me enough to deal with other people's kids all day, so I try to be grateful that people are so good to my kids.
I'm terrified to start looking into daycare/childcare! I was a "career nanny" for 5 year and (I say career, because I worked full time, did vacations, etc. Not just a babysitter) so I'm hoping the universe pays me back for being a good childcare provider by gifting me with one. Childcare is scary
As for my weekly random, we told our parents and my grandparents this weekend. There were tears. (Happy) All grandparents are thrilled. My mom laid the F bomb when she found out and my mom pretty much never swears. I'm so relieved people know besides me and H!!!!!
My random is that it's going to be 33C (91F) in Toronto this weekend! That's without the "feels like" temperature. It's our holiday long weekend (July 1 is Canada day) so I'm heading up to cottage country. NOT looking forward to wearing a bathing suit from last summer. Thanks to my subchorionic hematoma I've been on pelvic rest for the past 3 weeks and I look dreadful
I'm so annoyed with my hospital. My first prenatal appointment isn't until I'm 10 weeks, seemingly because they take on way too many patients. Yesterday I had a little spotting, so I called and asked if I should be seen. Nope, probably normal, see you at 10 weeks. It seems like everyone else has already been seen and has had an ultrasound and I feel like I'm in the dark.
@bleucheeznwine I don't get an US until 10 weeks either, so you're not alone! When I had spotting with my first, my doctor wouldn't see me either, which pissed me off. It's frustrating though, because I've told so many people and literally still haven't even seen the little bean.
@bleucheeznwine that’s not cool that they are refusing to see you. I haven’t had my appointment or US yet either. My first appointment is at 8 weeks, which is middle of July.
Does anyone else feel overhwhelmed by the number of appointments? I haven't told anyone at work and I know it's going to look fishy soon. The week before last I had an appointment. Last week I had an appointment. This week I have a follow up and I have to go to the hospital for a blood test. Next week should be calm, but the week after is my US. I'm super fortunate that my work is flexible and no one cares so long as I do my hours but it's exhausting!
Sorry @bleucheeznwine, you'd probably like to be in my shoes...
@becks_726 I found it easier to say I had dental appointments with my first. No one questioned that at all. Also, book them as late in the day as possible. It was also helpful to occasionally just take a day off on an appointment day (I scheduled the appt on a Monday or Friday for that) or take a half day. Then no one knew I even had an appointment. Hopefully soon your appointment will go down to once a month until you're further along.
@becks_726 - I usually tell my team ASAP so they know what's going on and are supportive of me doing what I need to do. I had an early loss three years ago that involved me working from home for a week on misoprostol and then ended up hospitalized and needed an emergency D&C a couple weeks later and had to take a week off of work - it was nice that they already knew what was going on so I didn't have to have the "I was pregnant but now I'm not" conversation.
Thanks ladies. I'm lucky to have had a really easy first pregnancy with nothing alarming in my chart, so I'm guessing that's why they're so lax with me. But some peace of mind would be nice, too.
@kayjay44 there seems to be pros and cons to waiting or telling. I'm torn. We are telling immediate family this weekend because we'll have the opportunity to tell some in person - a rare opportunity! And once that's done I think we'll re-evaluate telling others. Might be time... I'm intensely private so it really goes against my first instincts but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
