Maternity wardrobe

Re: Maternity wardrobe

  • @kristimh80 It’s from Seraphine. Part of the reason I want it is because I could definitely
dress it down for work and it’s nursing friendly. I just cant decide if I’ll be able to dress it up enough.
  • Loading the player...
  • I forgot to order yesterday, and now Pink Blush has 30% off today! Hmm, to order or to wait and see if it's 40% off tomorrow.
  • @chocolatelemons that’s can be dressed up a bit more than, say jersey material.

  • @meggyme I think I’m going to just buy it and decide when I try it on.   :)
  • @mayoduck I've got a few pairs of maternity jeans with the over the belly band that have front pockets but if they have the side panels there go your pockets :(
  • I have maternity jeans from Wal-Mart (online order) that have front and back pockets B) The brand is "Oh! Mamma". They are full panel.
  • Well, Pink Blush didn't go down to 40% today, haha. (Although I still haven't ordered. I think I'm going to hold off, and throughly look at lots of stuff before ordering. This will probably be the only really nice maternity dress I get for the rest of my child-bearing time, assuming I stay around the same size, because I probably only have an excuse to wear something like this once or twice a year, so I want to find something I truly love. And while I really did like that one dress, I hesitate because lace may not be easily tailored to change the neckline.)

Anyway, I keep an eye on different sites I shop because I like to shop sales. Here's some going on now.

Pink Blush - 50% off all clearance. Code getitnow. (Also, pink blush has free shipping regardless of order amount everywhere in the US all the time!)

Destination Motherhood and Motherhood Maternity - buy one full price item, get one 50% off. And up to 40% off sale items.

Old Navy and Gap - up to 50% off store wide. 30% off an online order.

@lovesclimbing Thanks for the reminder! I just placed an order with Pink Blush...now I just pray it all fits! You know by the weekend...they'll have another 40% off sale for regular clothes. lol I'm afraid this is going to become a new addiction. It stays hot in Texas majority of the year and hoping they all will last post-baby for awhile when still feeling "chubby". :)

  • I just got some maternity jeans from H&M and they are AMAZING.  I don't know what this fabric is, but it's doing all the right things.  Good work, H&M!
  • @dtspmama I love H&M maternity! Especially the nursing tanks. Their nursing bras were the only thing that I didn't like. Scratchy!

For those that have ordered from Pink Blush, have you had issues with orders taking a long time to ship? I ordered a week ago with 2 day shipping and it's still processing. Kind of bummed because I really wanted to like their clothes and order more. But if their shipping is always so slow, It'll deter that.

No, just the opposite. I was so impressed with their shipping time! I've only ordered once, fwiw. I ordered mid-afternoon on a Monday. I got the shipping notice an hour later. It arrived Friday morning. I live in Alaska and shipping can often be crazy and extended and all over the place, so I was very impressed.
  • @kristimh80 - the opposite for me as well. every time i order from them i receive it 3 days later, MAX! i loooooove their shipping and their return system is incredibly easy as well. this is surprising! you should give customer service a call and ask what the deal is. in fact, last week i paid for 2 day shipping so that a kimono made it to me in time to wear to my gender reveal.... it was supposed to be delivered that day and by 6:30pm i hadn't received it, she checked on the order and said it was en route and it showed up by 8pm! but they are very nice about looking into your order status. this sounds like a glitch. i love pink blush!!!!

@indigoheightsblog That's awesome! I emailed customer service already. If I don't hear anything back, I'll call them. I read online some people waited a month for orders, so that kind of scared me! lol That being said...it says on the order it was shipped...just no tracking etc. Hopefully, I'll come home to a package today!

This post has 6 pages already & I don’t really want to read through them all because I don’t really do maternity clothes. But has anyone already shared/can you please share the best maternity underwear? My undies are driving me nuts! My usuals are digging into the crease where my thigh meets my body.

I prefer all cotton, maybe a little soft lace at the edges. I prefer low cut/way below the tummy briefs with a full coverage behind (but not granny-style). I’m having a hard time finding anything that doesn’t ride up on the cheeks or in the thigh area.

In my last pregnancy I gained a lot of weight & experienced my inner thighs rubbing together & burning for the first time ever. I tried boy shorts but they came up too high in the tummy and got wedged between my thighs. Uggghhhh. I have an ample booty so no thongs or peek-a-boo cheekies for me. Any comfy suggestions welcome, thanks so much!

@keikilove No underwear recommendations, I never understood the need for maternity undies, but for thigh rub I like to put a little deodorant where they rub to prevent chaffing. I use spray deodorant, so it’s easy to apply but I think regular deodorant works too. I do this anytime I wear a skirt/dress.

  • @3rdtime_charmed Thanks so much, I will check these out! I’ve also put on 15# thus the need for a new type of underwear. I’m just not used to this changing shape/always uncomfortable in all my clothes. If my tatas weren’t so big I’d be going bra-less from now on!
  • @keikilove I’m struggling with bras too! The undies aren’t all Cotton but I think that’s how they keep their shape so well.

  • Definitely on the Bra struggle bus here too! My boobs were big to begin with and now they are on another level. I've been trying to find sports bras, etc that will kind of minimize, but haven't had a ton of luck lately.  :(

  • I had to go up a bra size pretty early
on in this pregnancy. I’m already big chested...I went from a G cup to an H cup and up a band size. I think that when I need to go up again I will just switch to nursing bras.
  • @mamaoftwomonkeys Thanks for the recommendation, these are cute! I bought a sports / nursing bra from from Motherhood Maternity and they make my chest look every bigger so I won't wear it much. I keep telling MH that I'd gladly give my boobs away! lol

  • Maybe I’m just oddly sized, but my maternity pants are all making me crazy! They fit fine through my legs & hips, but sag because they’re too loose just above my butt? I don’t remember dealing with this last time, but maybe that’s just because it was 4 years ago? This just me?
  • @lelkcot It’s not just you. Maternity pants are the WORST! The full panel ones hit me in a weird place and make my stomach feel funny (long torso), and the side panels are impossible to keep up because of the butt sag (not curvy enough in the behind to hold them I think). I even struggle with leggings either being too loose or too tight at the waist. I have been wearing a lot of dresses, but it’s starting to get cooler and I won’t be able to keep this up without leggings or tights. The maternity pants struggle is real!
  • @maggiemadeit I’m longer torsosed too, so maybe that’s part of it. I’m definitely leaning towards dresses and skirts these days!
  • I have been putting off getting maternity pants but I am approaching the 20 week mark and I can't deny how uncomfortable even my most forgiving non-maternity pants are starting to feel. I use the elastic extenders that button in and I tried a belly band over the top but it always slips up to my waist.

I hate that the vast majority of maternity pants don't have real front pockets (this is a deal breaker for me with regular pants, even dress pants) and I have really curvy legs and calves so the skinny jeans style that seems to be most prevalent these days does not work for me. So frusterated. I don't often wear dresses but I may be a dress (with pockets) and leggings girl this winter.
  • I was able to get by with a lot of drawstring pants last time. I had a summer pregnancy though, so linen drawstring pants were easy to get away with. This time I plan to wear lots of leggings, maxi dresses and skirts. I wish I was working in an office full time and didn't have to wear my work jeans. I haven't buttoned the top button in months and even that way it's starting to get uncomfortable. Baby is constantly kicking at my belt.

    @lelkcot Are you carrying higher?

Maternity pants are fitting me differently this time around too and I think it’s because I’m carrying higher up. They’re way too big in the waist. I’ve been fitting into my regular pants just fine though, which is weird, because regular shirts are too tight on me or dont look right over my bump.
  • @chocolatelemons I might be, definitely having that same issue of the pants not hugging my “waist” enough to stay up properly! Regular pants stay up much better with a rubber band and a belly band over top. They just are less comfortable...
  • I gave up on pants ages ago, but broke down and bought some Blanqi maternity leggings. I also have a long torso and they do a good job over covering plus are super comfy! They are little pricey for leggings, but I got mine off Amazon for quick free shipping and the ease of exchanging them. Only funny part for me as a FTM, is the top part for the belly kind of rounds out your belly...so you look pregnant, not just chunky during that weird stage :)

  • @kristimh80 I was hoping someone would post about Blanqi! Glad they’re comfortable for you! I’d posted a while ago about getting the supportive nursing leggings but I hate them. I wore them on the plane for my work trip recently since I have somewhat of a belly now and wondered if they’d feel more supportive. Well, they were still horribly annoying with rolling down at the rib cage and sliding down between my thighs. But I wonder if the pregnancy ones are made/shaped differently than the nursing ones? Do yours come all the way over your belly? Do they sit just below your bra line? Thanks in advance for the info. :)
  • @kristimh80 I posted on a 'randoms' thread awhile back asking for reviews of Blanqi... any chance you have any of the supportive tanks? I'm so curious if they're as supportive as they look and if they are worth the price?

@keikilove They got all the way over my belly to my bra line for me. Guess as belly grows, time will tell if they actually stay there! Good to know the nursing one's are a pain in the butt...I'll avoid those!

@laur84ns I don't have the supportive tanks yet, but looking into them. A gf of mine that just had a baby has one and really liked it. Good news, if you have amazon prime...order there and if you had it, send it back easily without any hassle! :) The tanks look really long in pics, so hoping they'll work to smooth like shapwear too.

  • I finally decided to suck it up and hit some shops for some maternity pants...no luck at all. I’m plus sized. Size 22 or 2/3x and I couldn’t find anything. I’m sad I’m going to have to find an online place to order from. I hate it bc I’m shaped almost straight sized so I need to try things on to make sure they fit. I am so discouraged. Went to Macy’s, the whole mall in my area, Target and Walmart. If there is one thing that will encourage me to lose weight it will be this experience. I was a 16/18 the first time around but the good old days of old navy, gap and target selling maternity plus in store. I was shocked Walmart had nothing. People were telling me to just buy some bigger clothes in regular plus but it doesn’t fit the same...and I don’t want to look fatter 😩 I want to look pregnant. I guess I’m just going to have to find some leggings and wear dresses and long shirts until March 😣
  • @zionsmama85 I agree, larger clothes do not equal maternity clothes. I live in a major city and there is almost nothing for in-store maternity clothes. Maybe you can try Amazon, so at least if you don’t like what you order you can return for free?
