I was in active labor right away with both of my kiddos... this one had me in L&D Friday morning for 3 hours with timetable painful contractions (which, over all, lasted 6 hours) and it was all false. No progress. Gross.
@wildtot mine was an internal exam as well. My last sono was at 32 weeks and they didn't mention anything other than baby being head down and taking measurements. Last week when I was checked it wasn't painful like some women (I think @kissableviv mentioned) but was uncomfortable for sure. I get another check Thursday so we will see if there has been any progress
Yes mine was not great maybe because I'm completely closed??? Not getting one until next Monday. Mom is gonna be here soon then it's do all the things to start moving baby along:)
I think some drs are more gentle than others. I think @rachelsogo mentioned one check was a lot less painful than the other she had by 2 different drs. My upcoming check Thursday will be by a different dr as well so we will see if I can add input to that
Yes one dr was super gentle and I barely felt anything with no cramping or spotting after. The other dr I swear was trying to punish me for something it hurt so bad. Bled and cramped after. And there seemed to be no progress made between the two checks: both drs said about 2cm dilated.

Pretty sure my water just broke so here I am at 345 am in l&d hoping baby girl holds off until her daddy gets here
ETA: water definitely broke, no test necessary to confirm after seeing it. They've admitted me and I'm at a 3, they're pretty sure they can hold off until DH can get here which his plane lands at 1030 am thankfully, so we are holding off on interventions that would normally speed up the process in Hope's of her holding out for her daddy.
@kbernal2021 as long as your H makes it in time, it sounds like this spontaneous labor will give you maximum post baby time with him! Good luck and tell that baby to stay put a few more hours!
Just had my first cervix check at 35+4. Had the GBS swab so my OB did it just because he was down there already. Starting to efface (didn’t give me a %) and cervix still fully closed. He said he guesses I might go a little early to on time. Doesn’t anticipate that I will go too late if at all. He gave me a date range of the 24th to the 1st so I’m curious to see if he’s right. I know it could turn out completely differently, but if he’s right I’ll be impressed.
I believe I had a bloody show this morning (sparing details to avoid grossing anyone out, though I can share some if anyone wants). Having some light intermittent cramping. Not sure if bloody show means anything is imminent—I’d love to make it to my scheduled c-section on Monday, though will be OK if she arrives a little early.
Had my GBS swab yesterday and since the doc was already down there decided to do my first cervix check too at 36+1. Cervix still closed, couldn't even get 1 finger in lol. Was definitely uncomfortable but no pain, cramping or spotting afterwards (thank goodness because I would have freaked) Baby is still head down and doc said very minimal chance that she will flip/not be head down for delivery, so that is good news. Having tons of contractions and back pain but they ensured me its not pre term labor, just my body getting ready. Finally onto weekly doctors visits but they said they'll check my cervix again in 2 weeks.
Very exciting @kbernal2021! Good luck to you today!
Headed to my OB in a bit. I have very rarely felt pain during a membrane sweep or cervix check, only a feeling of discomfort. Even those that caused me to spot later. I think I have a high tolerance for pain though. Although we did a membrane sweep last week, I'm probably going to decline today unless the doctor has a good reason for doing one. I think he's close enough to coming on his own that he doesn't need anyone pushing him.
So exciting @kbernal2021!!! Hope your H makes it on time!

Had the GBS swabs done today - no offer of a cervix check but I think I'm fine with that - had a speculum exam on Monday and that was NOT comfortable (then I had to remind myself - hey lady, get used to uncomfortably large things in that area)!
Had GBS swab and cervical check today. 1cm and 50% effaced, 36w1d. That's about where I was with DS, but I progressed up to a 5-6cm by 38w6d with DS and had to be induced soooo the pattern is beginning again. I'm excited for some things happening but also super impatient lol.
No significant change from last week despite all the contractions and loss of MP. I need to re-train my brain into thinking it's going to be an induction on 7/17.
I was able to move my 39 week appointment from 7/3 to 7/5. That increases the odds that I'll have her do a membrane sweep that day, but we'll see how things go.
Yay @kbernal2021 !!! I’m happy to hear YH is back in town right as you’re going into labor! I’m so excited to hear how everything is going and I will patiently keep an eye on the birth announcement
@sm05-2 I believe I read something (not sure how accurate or reputable it was) that said bloody show is a better sign of impending labor than just the regular mucus plug. Supposedly your MP can fall out but you may still not experience labor for weeks, which is pretty much what happened to me already, but bloody show could potentially mean your labor is much closer. Either way, I hope you make it to your CS or that everything works out if you do go into labor before then!
I don’t know if it was just the stress of driving into the office or what, but I’ve been having a ton of BH/contractions today. I had a couple while meeting with my boss that I actually questioned if something was starting, but they weren’t painful enough that I couldn’t carry on the conversation and hide that it was happening. Then on the drive home they happened so much that I started timing it. They were coming every 5 mins...then 6....then 8....then they stopped. Now I’m lying on the couch and getting them again. I kind of think commuting today triggered this and it’ll all fizzle out soon.
Thanks @emsnedds! I’ve been having mild menstrual-like cramping off and on, which is new this pregnancy, but nothing to call my OB’s office about. Wonder if it will get more intense soon or if it will wait (not that I want to experience intense contractions)!
@zande2016 I have noticed that my BH/contractions are more frequent in the car than anywhere else. I wonder if it's something about the sitting position or what. Hmmmm!
Waiting in line to check out at Walmart. There is literally one lane open.. luckily my MIL took my kids so I could shop alone, but my back hurts so bad just walking through the store. This is definitely new today. Could it be labor??? Probably not. But for the first time ever I’m willing my water not to break while I’m waiting in line here.
I took a bath and things died right down. I definitely think all the driving did it. Who knows. @hillbillywife I hope your water doesn’t break in the Walmart line!
After almost 2 weeks of intense cramping, loose BMs and some contractions it has all stopped?!? Still seeing some white MP multiple times a day so maybe I’m still making progress. Didn’t go through any of this with DS and I am not a fan.
@zande2016 driving definitely does it! I was working from home the last few days but went into work yesterday for a meeting and noticed a lot more cramping and Braxton Hicks when I got there and when I finally got home. Glad things died down for you!
