Quickening?

Re: Quickening?

  • @Katzalia it's so cool isn't it?! I've been seeing baby girl move from the outside for a couple weeks now and I love it!

@ab_canada That sounds totally possible to me.

  • @texas_t Yes, just like that!  :D

  • @ab_canada I love and am fascinated by the weirdness of the range of sensation from different body parts and types of movement. There totally could be little fingers strumming away in there, right?
  • @Katzalia It would be cool to be hooked up to an u/s for an extended period of time just to be able to figure out what all of the sensations are.

  • @ab_canada yes!!! So fascinating.
  • @ab_canada I’m sure it could be fingers.  I have felt what I think are toes!
  • @binxybaby Does is think it's super weird? Sometimes I even get a little freaked out by it.  Kiddo was apparently attending a rave at 4am and I was just laying there in awe, lol

  • @texas_t Yup. He went from never feeling any movement to feeling a ton of movement in the past couple weeks so it's still really new to him. He also thinks seeing my belly move on its own is the weirdest thing ever.

  • @morgantu It all depends on the baby’s position and the way you are built.
  • @runrinserepeat They just had an article on the bump front page that talked about less BIG movement because they're running out of room. I think you're good!

  • @runrinserepeat I read somewhere that the intensity of movement decreases around 28 weeks.
  • @runrinserepeat I'm having that too. There are definitely lots of movements, but muuuch more subtle than before. I'd love to figure out how this lo is positioned so I know what's going on in there!
  • @ab_canada Agreed! I can't tell if it's a kick or lunch or roll! It would be so cool to be able to see what they all are.
  • @Jens_Hoes Totally! I would not be surprised if he burst through my stomach with how he's acting. Little stinker.

  • @morgantu Same here. With DS I'd feel him kick and move all over and higher than my belly button, but baby girl almost never moves above my belly button.

  • @AdorkablePixie All of little munchkin movements tend to be pretty low. I asked the ultrasound tech and she said he is sitting low so she isn't surprised.
  • @mamajudec2018 I think that is definitely what it happening here too, mainly because of the pressure I feel around my pelvis.

  • I must be the only one that has like zero movement in my upper stomach. I swear I only feel her in my butt and cervix. So if people say movements slow down at 28 wks I guess I won’t feel much of anything till the end then. Or she is waiting to come out a raging wild one.

  • @mcgeeva you aren’t the only one :) I only ever feel mine move at the bottom of my “bump” and feel her doing summersaults on my bladder, never higher than that lol I bet yours will come out and be dancing on tables in no time xD

Is it still called “quickening” this late? When are they considered “legit kicks”?
  • Lol probably not!

  • @mikinna  my opinion is that is you can feel them on the outside and see your belly move, it’s a kick!
  • @katy0990 that’s a great theory and I am gonna keep it :D
  • Yeah, I think all of us are past the "quickening" stage at this point. :)

  • I think LO must be head down at this point. i *THINK* i felt hiccups like in my cervix yesterday. it was so low! felt like a little heartbeat. Can the OB usually tell baby's position by feel, or does it require a US?
  • @morgantu same! I felt her flip yesterday and after that my belly was noticeably smaller and I think there were hiccups down low and a foot in my side. I think it depends — sometimes the OB can feel position from the outside plus where the heartbeat is, but  not always.
  • @ab_canada I posted a video of baby girl moving and my brother posted a GIF from one of the alien movies. :D

@scaredunprepared Yesss, having baby on bladder is not a good time. I am not a fan! lol

  • @morgantu I think it depends on your OB and the size of baby/ amount of fluid you have. A friend of mine’s OB assured her that bavybwas head down, but the u/s showed that she was footling breech.
  • Should we discuss kick counts here or start a new thread? Wondering what your Drs have said + in the middle of a freak out. Not felt baby yet this a.m.
  • @mommythlegend
make sure you drink something sugary/cold (like orange juice or ice cold water plus a sugary treat) and lay down so you can really try to see if you can feel something.  If you don't feel anything, I'd call your nurse line.
  • @mommythlegend My doctor doesn’t have me do kick counts. She just said to be aware of movement and if it has been awhile to do wgat @Jens_Hoes suggested.
