I had an anterior placenta last time and didn't feel anything til about 25 weeks! But, I was also a FTM and didn't know what I was feeling/looking for. This time, now 13 weeks I swear I've felt some tiny kicks. Only a couple times. Once while I was yawning, but really.... at this point it could all be in my head, or just gas..... I think it's nugget though.
I took a bath last night and I've now decided I'm having triplets. That's how much movement I felt. If not triplets, baby boy was hosting a rave. It was seriously insane.
I have a feeling this means I'm going to have one squirmy baby when he comes out.
Me too! I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and I have been feeling the baby for about a week. I've only been sure about it the last few days though. I have to say it is a pretty weird feeling.
I think I'm officially calling it. She's not partying quite as hard as her older sister did (or maybe she's just more petite?) but she's definitely knocking around in there. I'm surprising myself a little with how exciting I'm finding it, given how much I hated the feeling last pregnancy.
I can't seem to decide whether or not I'm feeling anything or not. I'm on the heavier side with a bit of extra belly fat, so I'm not sure if that is affecting it or not. I'll be 18 weeks on Tuesday and this is my first.
I was positive I was feeling flutters here and there ( STM so I know what I'm looking for) and then the past few days, nothing. I need some reassurance that everything is ok. Dr appointment is Friday so not looking for medical opinion just someone to say that this early it is normal for flutters to come and go...I'm 15w 4d and I hnestly can't remember when I delt it the first time around.
@rcultrona That is normal at this stage! I was lying still after eating some ice cream and m &m’s last Friday night and I’m pretty sure I felt the baby, but haven’t since. It is so early and you probably don’t have a ton of downtime to sit and wait for it as a STM.
@rcultrona my doctor has been very clear that I'm not to worry if I don't feel baby moving consistently. They don't start worrying about that until third tri, so we've got a ways to go!
@rcultrona STM here too and I’m feeling maybe sorta flutters on and off as well. Baby was alive and kicking as of an hour ago! But yes — this stage is super nerve-wracking. The WORST!

I was feeling some flutters and then didn’t for a bit. Now I’m feeling them more regularly (17+5). I think what you are describing sounds normal.
@rcultrona some days I feel him a ton and other days nothing. On those days I have to remind myself that it is completely normal at this point, so I definitely get where you are coming from. I’m not a fan of this stage - not knowing how baby is doing. I’m ready for the every day movements!
@rcultrona My husband and I have various names for when I don't feel baby for a few days: walkabout, vacation, going exploring, wandering off. Movement is just not super consistent at this point.
@rcultrona it’s totally normal this early! Baby is probably moving a ton in there, you just can’t always feel it yet because they’re still small. I’m a STM too... I am currently 17 weeks. First time I felt this baby was sometime mid 15 weeks. Then I didn’t feel anything for a few days, then had a ton of movement starting at 16 weeks. Then mid 16 weeks, nothing for a few days. Then went to my doctor’s appointment... the heartbeat sounded great and baby kept trying to move away from the doppler. Went and had a pizookie and felt baby move a TON after all that sugar. Haven’t felt baby at all yet today, but it felt him/her a little bit last night. No need to worry this early about movement. It’s more than likely baby is just fine in there. It’s not really til the 3rd trimester that counting kicks is that important.
I am at 15 + 3, and I think for the first time I may have been feeling baby move last night. And again on my drive home today. It feels like its way higher than it should be though, so maybe it's really just gas LOL. Trying not to worry much though, because as a first-time mom I really don't know what I should even be feeling for.
I can't remember if it was the Bump or another one of my 4 apps (lol) but it suggested drinking some cold water and then placing a remote on your belly to see movement. I did that last night. It was mostly my heartbeat jiggling the remote, but there were definitely a few jolts from baby, which was fun.
@rcultrona I’m happy you know she’s bouncing around in there!
I was hoping that lunch would perk this kid up, but apparently the chorizo gorditas and tamarind Jarritos just got him in the mood for a siesta -or- he’s still just too small for me to feel. One day!

I’ve been feeling a flutter once or twice every few days in the past 2 weeks. For some reason today she's been really active, off and on all afternoon and evening, to the point that MH and I could even feel a couple of unmistakeable little nudges on the outside. Of course she’s not moving that I can feel now, but I felt you, little girl!

Sometimes I think I feel a rolling sensation, but that's only once every few days at best. Still waiting to really feel this little guy. 20 weeks tomorrow, FTM.

@echo-charlietango and @tunnel I'm a 21 week STM, felt baby #1 pretty early (she was pretty regularly noticeable by about 16 weeks), and while I had the occasional cervical stomp or muted nudge (things I may have questioned or not have even noticed had I been a FTM), it's only been in the past week or so that I've started to feel her pretty regularly (and still, if I hadn't BTDT, I might be questioning what I'm feeling). You're definitely still well within the realm of normal!
@echo-charlietango Do you know where your placenta is located? Mine was anterior last time and I didn't feel my son quite so early on. Plus I wasn't sure that what I was feeling (stomach twitches sort of?) was baby. In retrospect it definitely was. But yeah -- it was definitely after 20 weeks that I admitted it to myself the first time around.

@PensiveCrayon Not certain, but my OB said that anterior is not likely, because the heartbeat is easy to find and clear. Plus, LO definitely kicked the Doppler. We find out for sure next week at the anatomy scan
@AGK2015 I like “muted nudges” I’ll keep that in mind when I feel some candidate motions, thank you too for the vote of normalcy.

@echo-charlietango FWIW, I have an anterior placenta this time around and at my 15? week appt the nurse found the heartbeat immediately with the doppler.

LO’s movements have gotten bigger & higher just since yesterday. Before yesterday I felt little wiggles down by the pelvic bone. Now I can see ripples above my belly button Huge change! I wonder if it was a growth spurt, or he’s just trying out a new position. Also, these larger movements seem to be less frequent, but that may be my imagination.

@echo_charlietango Yep! I think I was 22ish weeks when all of a sudden I'd get stomach shaking movements. It went from little taps to huge kicks and punches! Now, I'm getting full on dance parties!
@texas_t Aaaaand I’m at 22 Weeks right meow I’ll chalk this up to another Jarringly-Textbook-Pregnancy Symptom. LO has been weirdly exact in anything detectable, it’s neat & still a surprise.

I felt my baby pretty early (3rd baby). Yesterday at my 22 week appointment, Dr. was trying to detect heartbeat with doppler but was having a hard time because whenever she pushed on a spot, she was straight kicked right off my stomach. Everywhere she moved, the baby kicked her hand. She acted surprised since you can see the huge kick from the outside. To me it was normal though. You can already see him constantly moving from the outside. Anyways, she looked confused and re checked how many weeks I was. And I just apologized and said I have a strong baby.

@asun123 Yeah, I was 21+4 at my appointment yesterday. And while baby isn't kicking away at pressure from the outside yet, I told my midwife that my husband had felt the baby for the first time this week. She was definitely surprised by that and said the baby must be strong. Lol. It's just normal for me to feel a dance party happening 6-8 times a day. And baby is constantly getting stronger. It's all super low still, but I assume that's since the ultrasound showed I have a fundal placenta, so the upper area might be "cushioned"?
Ftm here been feeling baby pretty consistently for about a week and a half now (23 weeks currently) Im assuming she must be a strong one as I have been feeling her since about 18 weeks on and off (she was kicking the Doppler aswell) DH could even feel her on the outside and has even had some pretty big kicks when he tries to feel her when I'm trying to sleep. Now she moves mostly whenever he talks to her or he puts his hand on my stomach I sense a daddy's girl!
Also cannot wait to see outside movements on the bigger side so I think I have to wait till she's alot bigger
Reviving this thread because I’m sitting here <not-working> and watching my belly jump with this little girl kicking and dancing. 25+1 today and this is first time I’ve really seen this kind of movement, though I’ve been able to feel her in there for months.
Is it possible I'm feeling little fingers? It's a little weird to think about but I can't think of anything else that would feel so small and the type of motion reminds me of running your fingers against something in a "wave" pattern (sort of one finger at a time). 28+6 here.. Am I cray-cray?
@Katzalia I have been seeing movement for about 10 days now! (26+1 today). I even caught it on video to send to my sister. Baby girl has been hanging out in a position to kick my lower right side for a few days. Two nights ago, she kicked so hard, and so close to my right hip, that I had hip pain for about a minute!
Re: Quickening?
@tunnel Yes! I feel the RLP when I sneeze and cough. Not a fan.
I've definitely been feeling LO move. I'm 13w5d today.

@AGK2015 Really?? I loved feeling. I missed it once he was born. lol
@snreynolds91 I want to say that shouldn't affect it because you're feeling movement from the inside, not the outside but I'm not positive.
