I definitely come across interesting names and spellings as a teacher. I have had a Jireh (ji-rah) and Tevron, both boys names. I also have an Aaliyah which I love, but spelled Ailea and two Tianna’s spelled Tiona.
My aunt taught an Abcde (ab-se-dee). And she’s actually had multiple Baby Boy/Baby Girl’s. Like, they literally just never got a name so that’s their legal name now.
Funny story about names. Our DS is Ryan, but when we called to make his NB appointment the nurse thought we said Lyon and that we had named our kid after Lucious Lyon from Empire. We still joke about it everytime I go in.
There was a rat in our trash can I regret taking on trash duty...

At the hospital I used to work at, we had a doctor named Wayne Little so whenever it came across on a patient order it came across as Little Wayne. Granted, he was much older so his parents had no idea, but it still always made us laugh.
I had a physics teacher in high school that was Mr. Butt. I get you don’t have a lot of say in your last name but maybe choose a profession that doesn’t involve working with the most immature group of people on the planet - every time someone said his name everyone would giggle.
I am jealous of all of you that have names picked out already - DH is useless at talking about it. I’ve brought up so many names and have my favourites but he is very ‘meh’ about every suggestion I give and won’t offer up anything serious on his own. He was like this with both other kids too but we still managed to hammer down names by about the halfway mark - this one may end up nameless.
@cdepperschmidt It would be so hard to grow up with that and actually have to tell people that was your name! I feel like I’d be taking my partners last name regardless if I was male or female if I had a last name like that!
I'm so excited!! In 12 hours I will be on a plane to London! My H is already there for work, so I will be flying alone which will be lonely for 7 hours but a small price to pay for a practically free vaycay!
A guy my dad did some work for had a pretty interesting last name. Never saw it spelled but heard a message he left.. it was Lickdick. I’m sure it wasn’t spelled like that but sure sounded like it!!

I have sent Dh easily 30 names and none are grabbing him. It’s annoying. We had a much easier time with dd.
I need to get wifi at the house, I logged on to 35 new randoms! Lol. I've seen some pretty interesting names in my years at a salon and now here at the dentist office. The only one I can think of right now is Princess. I remember when it popped up on the screen at the salon and I was like "Somebody switch with me! I can't go out there and call that name! That's my dog's name!" Lol. I waltzed out there and hollered it. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy. The name fit her though.
I'm a sucker for Gone With The Wind and loved Melly, but I don't care for the name personally. Sounds weird to me. Lol
Same.
We named my daughter Scarlett (totally after GWTW) and not my husband keeps suggesting Clark (as in... Clark Gable) and my mom heard it and now keeps suggesting Rhett (as in... Rhett Butler).
Guys, I love the movie and I love the name Scarlett but come on. I'm not going to be *that* person.
edited because it is being weird and not showing anything that i type below the box, so here...just saying that the name Rhett was on my list but DH is not a fan of it. But i agree on it being a little conspicuous to choose two names that so readily bring to mind a single book/show/movie/etc.
@mytrueloves I don't get that. Unless you are naming your child something truly awful 'Hellchild PentuniaBlossum' or something akin to that, why do people think their input is wanted or needed, especially if its negative. Its ridiculous.
um...that is our exact name for this little one (but Petunia and Blossom as two separate middle names).
I had high school teachers names Mrs. Hot, Mr. Sprinkle and Mr. Coffee. That was something. I'm I weird in that DH and I haven't really even started talking names? I have a few in mind for baby girl, but for some reason I guess I'm not in a hurry? Whenever someone asks I just say we will narrow it down to two or three names and choose once we see her. I guess even if we do pick a name before hand, I would still tell people that!
These name stories are making me laugh! We have not chosen a name yet but I'm still standing by not sharing until the baby is born. My mom is still not happy about that. Oh well. And I'll never understand why others feel the need to voice their opinions so strongly about what someone else is naming their kid.
@krzyriver That's nothing. I had 101 unread for the randoms thread! Lol
I also have a friend who legally changed her name (both first and last) when she became an adult. She would never tell anyone what her birth name was, but I know she had a cousin whose last name was Dick.
Can't remember if I posted here or not but I finally found some maternity clothes that I actually like! And at a second hand store!! $35 for three shorts and three shirts!!
I've worked customer service and various rolls at a few insurance companies where i deal with applications and such. During my customer service days I had a list of hilarious names. To date my favorite was Macadoo Twitty Jr.
I did school portraits for a few years, and the elementary kids were starting to have a lotttt of interesting names. I understand parents trying hard to be different, but it was hard not to laugh as I called out phrases like, "All right Racer, start your engine and zoom over here for your photo."
As a teacher in the Bay Area, I got a lot of really hard to pronounce names on my roster. I’ll never forget one kid - Indian kid, with a name not hard to pronounce, just awkward: Dikshit. I knew this kid signed up for my class the spring before the new school year started, and a friend was like, it’s cool - he goes by “Pal”. Awesome, but I still need to say his name during roll the first day! I’m sure the other kids knew what his real name was and everyone’s used to it, but still - awkward. Luckily, he was absent the first day of school, and he came up to me on day 2 and immediately introduced himself as Pal.
@elothair@HoosOnFirst With Ds, I gave DH like (minimum) 3 notebook pages full of names! He liked zero It took forever. The only reason this little girl already has a name, is because we had discussed it before I got pregnant with our last loss. DH wanted to keep with the "L" name trend (matching sibset), so that instantly made our choices far less. Lol
Also, DH's uncle (they are only 5 years apart) used to be a lab tech (drew blood in 2 hospitals. Now he runs the lab), he always came home with the best stories of unusual names. (Especially when he did newborn draws). The ones that always stick out in my head, is the newborn who's mom thought Chlamydia was the the cutest thing she ever heard. (The nurses even kindly suggested not naming her daughter after and STI. She wasn't swayed.) And another, whole family full of kids with very hippy/nature type names. Sunflower Moonbeam was one that he seen often for blood checks. He said she went by Sunny, and it was fitting. Lol

Editted: it cut me off.
