@melbo444 Lol! I have no desire to stand there fussing with hair and make up this entire first trimester. Majority of the time I just look like I’m ill or lazy and tired.
@DunkinDecaf with you. One of my good friends at work ran it a few years ago for the Pats foundation, and I just found another co-worker who ran it twice. I mean, we're an athletic company so I shouldn't be surprised, but people are NUTS. I do Bravo marathons and that's bout it.
@chopchop25 good for her! I mean I don’t even begin to understand why someone would run a marathon, but I’m sure especially in this weather whatever is fulfilling about doing something that bananas and hard is probably extra special!
Didn’t realize both you ladies are relative neighbors! I work in Copley and we get today off of work because we can’t get in. I didn’t get to watch the marathon since I’m not near the route. It was so much fun when I was younger and lived in the city!
@HoosOnFirst Was once a neighbor, but not anymore. Went to school in the Boston area, lived there after UG for a bit, and lived 45 min NW of the city for a few years when I was young. And ughh I miss having Marathon Monday off. I honestly completely forgot about that perk. I loved watching it and going to the early Sox game. At least my company celebrated by watching with free breakfast today.
Im so glad DH and I took the day off after traveling all day yesterday. I needed the day to just relax and get stuff done. I got a ton accomplished today!
@hoosonfirst yay more Boston people!! Yeah we live out in the burbs. My parents’ house is right on the marathon route, so that’s where we always watch from.
Also SS called us today to tell us he got on "pink" at school today (the highest behavior level you can get). He's been doing SO well since his conferences and DH and BM (bio-mom) talked to the teacher about him being bored after finishing work and distracting others. It was just nice to hear from him since he never calls when he's with his mom.
@DunkinDecaf I’m pretty close to Gillette Stadium, it’s a shame I’m not a pats fan! I spent over a decade in Brighton (the young professionals and families part, not the college kids part) and I miss it immensely. My Dh dragged me out to the burbs about 5 years ago. I only agreed because I still work downtown.
Somehow I find it better to poop at some business than my own house. Why stink up my own house?
@DunkinDecaf commuter rail, all the way. My Dh drives to Cambridge and it’s 75 minutes each way. I have an hour each way to hang on a train and check the Bump, get ahead of work email, and drink my dunks half caff. The only downside is that my train schedule is so rigid with daycare to also get to. It only works because I do drop off and Dh does pick up and he works 730-330 while I do 9-5 (and we both work from home as needed). We both negotiated one day each week working from home after we had dd. Commuting just makes for really long days. But when we bought, being on public transit was a nonnegotiable for me. Otherwise why bother living in a major American city?
Whateve my next job is though, I’m looking for suburbs. When I get the sick call from daycare, both Dh and I are over an hour from home and it’s been a pain. Either he or I need to be closer. But we are both at nonprofits with good environments for working parents so hard to give up.
When I was younger, I wouldn’t eat anything but the green ones. (My Mom never bought the other colors so they tasted weird to me.)
I told a guy I was dating once this, and he insisted they all taste the same. I offered to do a blindfolded taste test, and even bought the peppers to do it, but he declined. I should have realized then that his desire to be right would always supersede his willingness to find out the truth.

Is pink good or bad? I hate color charts because I don’t think they’re a logical consequence.
@cdepperschmidt, pink is the best you can get. They have consequences if the go below Green, which is their ground zero. If they go down one color, they have to walk two laps on their track at recess (it's not a full size track). If they are down two colors, they walk their whole recess. If they are at the lowest, they get a call home. We reward him for getting on pink, since it's rare.
That’s good that pink is good! I like that they have a real consequence tied to the color. I work in Title 1, so our population is a lot of why it doesn’t work.

Yeah, I can see that. My mom was a Title 1 teacher for a bit. She loved it, but I know it can be tough some times. She works in an interesting area.
@HoosOnFirst yeah assuming the trains are running on time. I feel like all DH ever does is bitch about them being late. Definitely beats driving though, especially in winter.
Just found out that H booked an appt at one of those boutique ultrasound places for this Saturday to find out the sex. It’s my Mother’s Day present. Those places make me skeptical, but he’s so excited and he made sure this place has registered ultrasound techs. I don’t know what to say. I’d love to know but I’m nervous about getting incorrect results from a boutique.
@krzyriver We did it will DD. I was a little nervous at first, but in talking with the ultrasound tech we found out that most of their techs work at an OB office and work at the boutique place on their off days. The particular tech we had worked full time at a High Risk OB. Obviously this is just the place near me and I can't say that this is true for all boutique places.
Here's a good laugh for you! We have decided to name baby Griffin, so the picture below is my phone lock screen. SS (who's 6) saw it today and was asking what it was. We explained that it was a Griffin and it has the body and tail of a loin and the head, talons, and wings of a eagle. He thought we meant that's what the baby would look like. He goes "So the baby has wings inside Sammie's tummy?"
@hellopartyof5 15+4. They guarantee accurate results at 15-18 weeks... if you come back and get it rechecked. But my anatomy scan is in 4 weeks so I don’t see the point of taking the time to go back.
@SawyerRichardson This place seems similar. They’re actually closed most weekdays and open late on weekends because the sonographers work at OB offices.
@sammierose464 Oh man, maybe I updated in O16 and forgot to do it here. Everything is fine. Baby was wiggling all around. They said I hit above the baby, the ultrasound was just a precaution.
@krzyriver tbh I think your concerns about accuracy of the sex assessment is definitely valid. We had someone in my last bmb get a wrong assessment from a boutique place. Also in my experience the techs at those places are nowhere close to as well trained as the ones I’ve encountered at my OB’s. Also, I’d personally be uncomfortable doing a boutique ultrasound before the anatomy scan, because if you saw anything that you or the tech thought looked scary you’d have to wait and go see your OB to figure out if everything is ok or not, and that sounds miserably stressful. I would suggest postponing it and do a boutique ultrasound later, closer to 32-34 weeks. You can get some 3D pictures that can be really fun, and it’s always nice to see baby. We’ve done that with both our previous pregnancies.
@DunkinDecaf How disappointing that would be! And H was talking about doing a fun reveal for my folks afterwards. It’s too early, I wouldn’t trust it.
But apparebtly the place is legit. They do diagnostic ultrasounds for doctors who don’t do scans in office and they come highly recommended by OBs.... for anatomy scans anyway. Who knows about non-diagnostic tests. H said he wouldn’t be disappointed, but I think he was hoping to do it so he wouldn’t have to take off work for the anatomy scan. Dork. He can wait. We have 4 weeks until my appt.
Just wanted to share cuz I couldn’t handle the cuteness.. I bought myself a snoogle this past weekend and it is the BEST thing ever. Apparently my dog thinks so as well... already trying to steal it.... do yourselves a grand favor and go get a snoogle!!!

It really works well for him, but not all kids.
I’ve had either a red, orange, or yellow pepper cut up with ranch to dip for dinner the last week. I CANT GET ENOUGH!!!
