Randoms 4/12

Re: Randoms 4/12

  • Saw an NP at my OB for my appointment today and we were going over history and all kinds of stuff.  At one point she asked me what I wanted. I told her I didn’t really care either way.  She tells me I get to pick.  I have a brief moment of regret choosing this OB office.... turns out she was talking about VBAC or repeat C-section. At least the nursing intern that was shadowing her also thought she meant boy or girl initially and it wasn’t just me being dumb (because earlier in the appointment she asked me how long my periods typically were and I started telling her how far apart they normally were instead of how long they were).

@chopchop25 Well...the breech thing seems accurate to me! I came out ass first, and my brother was born normally (head first). Definitely an accurate way to tell sex. 100% accurate for my mother. :D

So because I have bad nausea and food aversions to my favorite foods, does that mean twins?!?!?!?!

I've seen one about what way your pillow faces. Like north means girl and south means boy, or something like that. Idk how you tell what way your pillow faces...I'd say mine faces east/west, not north or south. Ridiculous!!

Edit because apparently the bump doesn't like my Emojis and deleted everything after.
  • I thought we were pretty damn nice in that Ultrasound post. It hasnt even gotten shut down yet.
    I seriously wonder sometimes....

My husband was breech and his sister was normal. Both of my boys were breech. It appears none of them read that article before being born.

  • That article was hilarious. Living with baby daddy bahahaha

As for water, I find it really helps to have a 20-30oz shaker cup. I know I need to aim for 3 a day. Doesnt always happen tho.

So my boss is off today and I took an extra long lunch at the mall. Bought a pair of H&M maternity jeans.  Soooooo comfy
  • Sighs.. Here comes the snow! It was 82° F earlier this week, now it's 32° and dropping and turning white out there :unamused:

  • @coffee-saur I live in Edmonton, Alberta. We just set a new record for most consecutive days below 0C (32F). At 167. This winter will never end.

  • Despite hating the never ending winter... I am looking forward to using our newest weekend Winter Storm Warning to lay in bed and binge watch Netflix all weekend. 2 inches of ice can't touch me in my warm comfy bed!

Now that I typed that, I better make sure DH has the generator ready to go just in case.

Thank you ladies, I just checked the weather and got to see an icon I have never seen before!  I’m not sure exactly what it means since the description is different on the 2 days that have it, but I’m pretty sure no matter what it is, I probably won’t like it. I’m also thinking I should go shopping now instead of waiting until we are out of food tomorrow.

Edit because English is my first language but sometimes I still can’t speak it well.

Edit again because apparently I also can’t spell.

I way overdid it with raking gravel yesterday now I’m freaking out. Weird cramps and just don’t feel right. No bleeding right now but those cramps man... They feel so similar to when I lost my first 2.  I got an appointment scheduled for this afternoon and am praying they’ll tell me it’s normal and I’m just being paranoid...I’m petrified and to top it off I have to go alone!

@jynjer91 Hopefully it's your nerves and everything is just fine. Sending positive vibes to you and your little one <3
  • @jynjer91 FX its nothing. I have had some on and off cramps for weeks and they make me nervous, but they have never been anything. Hoping for you!
  • @jynjer91 Fingers crossed for you!
  • @jynjer91 I am hoping for the best outcome for you! I have been feeling crampy lately too, I was told it can be normal around this time.
  • Thanks everyone! I’m really hoping I just get the “she’s obviously a ftm” eyerolls.
  • Soooo I am worried about GD due to my PCOS and it being a higher chance. I didn't have it with DD by some miracle but I am almost positive I will have it this time around. I bought a glucose monitor and fasting/morning readings are 95-105. So I plan to start looking up and incorporating recipes now, any ladies who may or may not have had this in the past have any cook books or recipe ideas? Maybe some websites or ideas of what to get when eating out certain places? (I don't always have time to cook). Maybe later on I can start a thread with recipe ideas but I know this isn't a  concern for most yet.

Sidenote I know I don't get super involved with the randoms but only because I can't ever follow it well especially during the work week. Sorry if this has been covered before! I so wish the replies were laid out differently. :flushed:
  • @ninji15 I don't have PCOS or GD (well, I could develop GD, but never been pregnant so who knows), but this is my very favorite website for healthy recipes

    https://www.skinnytaste.com

The best part is you can also sort them by low carb, paleo, GF, vegetarian etc.. I love her so much.
  • @jynjer91 FX everything is okay for you. Sending positive vibes and hoping it's just some normal cramps and stretching! Also...random thought...if it was more physical work than normal for you, did you make sure to rehydrate adequately?
  • I did drink a lot of water...I can’t ever seem to get enough! That may be a possibility though. Just frustrating because that was easy compared to what I normally do when I work with DH. Lesson learned. I am now a wimp.
  • @jynjer91 sending you positive vibes. Keep us posted.

  • Question...I bought a nursing bra because everyone said they were soooo comfy. Ok, that's true. BUT....the padding in there...Hello awkward cone boobs that stick straight out. Anyone run across this before? I was gonna swap out the pads with some of my swimsuit/sports bra ones to see if that worked (def too thing to go without), or order some pads off Amazon but they all look to be padded and adding shape, which I don't want. (I'm a 30H/32G, so I don't want to look bigger)
  • Welp, we've the blizzard conditions now. The highways through the county are all closed because visibility is zero.
@jennybean80 Do you have a bunch of snow yet too?  I thought I'd heard Edberg had like 2 feet yet... Sorry, I'm terrible at figuring metric!
@jemmerjams I have problem with bras fitting me weird, like you said, cone boobs, or poking out to the side like towards my arms.  I have found that usually sports bras type, or a rounded type... Not sure how to explain that one... https://www.motherhood.com/wireless-full-coverage-nursing-bra/006-1174M-999-001.html?cgid=nursing-bras&dwvar_006-1174M-999-001_color=006-98432#sz=72&start=1  kinda like that one.  I wonder if I'll have to get new ones this time, so I might be trying to find non-cone boob ones, too.  Hmm, that one is wireless, so I dunno if that works for you or not.

@jynjer91 So glad everything turned out okay!

Y'all are making me feel guilty with this water consumption talk. Tbh, I've never thought about it and I guarantee I'm not drinking enough   :|

  • Yay @lovelycrookedfox That's so excited!!! We have been able to consistently find ours for about a week now. Isn't it just the most calming thing? (After so many losses DH insisted on buying one so that if anything felt off or my anxiety got the best of me,  I could quickly check it at home.)
  • @coffee-saur this is my front yard. It’s starting to melt a bit. Maybe there’s hope!
