@kiwi2628 Apparently it’s actually next Sunday. So now I need to start thinking of excuses to use, but DH won’t help because he doesn’t understand why I’m annoyed. He’s trying to get me to agree to a sprinkle for myself. NOPE!
I have a sprinkle to go to today. This is baby number two and their second girl. Their other child is like 3. I’m so annoyed that I have to put on pants for this. Sorry not sorry lady.
@knottieamusements I was waiting for the thread to blow up from day 1. We had a similar thread blow up in N15.
@krzyriver I was legit in your shoes a month ago. Sprinkle for 2nd child same gender. Luckily there was a lot of toddlers so it ended up being a giant play date.
I’m unsure if my family will do a sprinkle. I certainly don’t expect one. This is our second but is a different gender. Luckily I lent my sister all my baby stuff so I am getting most of it back - mainly equipment I did not want to repurchase. The only stuff I will need is clothes. I went through and found all the gender neutral stuff from my daughter. Luckily my mom is a manager at a Carter’s so honestly I’m covered. We only found out the sex 10 days ago and she already bought me 20 items (but all on the sale rack).
I feel like for the first few months you can share a lot of clothes among sexes, especially if you had a boy 1st and now it’s a girl. Just add a bow lol. Now girl to boy may be harder, especially if you had a lot of pink.
^^ yep we had a girl and now a boy. I’m pretty open to him wearing whatever but I didn’t realize how many bows and shit are on every piece of girls clothing!

Eh. Babies don’t care what they’re wearing. If this ones a boy I’ll get him some different formalwear for Christmas mass and stuff like that, and I won’t put him in the girls’ play dresses, but I’m not getting different onesies or pajamas bc the ones I have are pink with a butterfly on them or something. I don’t care, and he won’t either.
Ohmygod you guys. We had a babysitter over this afternoon so H and I could get some work done. He just took the girls in to give them a bath and discovered that DD2 was in a swimmy diaper. Aka, the kind of diaper that does NOT retain pee. Time to go check my entire house for pee stains.
Guys- we just called my MIL to let her know we set on a name (we told our friends last night at a party and my H didn't want the info getting back to his parents second hand). I like my MIL very much, but on the phone she goes 'oh! Well, thats great! I mean, you can always change it, you have time....'
My H shut that down real fast with a 'why would we change it? Its our babies name and we love it'.

@DunkinDecaf oh god! Any idea how long she was in it? I hope you don't find any pee stains! Also, this may be dumb, but how do you get pee stains out? Is it the same way you get dog pee stains out (Natures Miracle? Is that dumb?)
@HoosOnFirst I totally get it, I just cant keep a secret. Its impossible for me. Luckily everyone else has said they love the name, which, unless I said I was naming the kid Pilot Inspektorr is the only correct response, ever. I dont get how people dont know that.
@DunkinDecaf we had a sitter once who said she was good with changing diapers. Everything seemed fine (kids were all in bed when we got home). Got to wash two full sets of pjs and crib bedding halfway through the night, since she put diapers on both twins backwards! Leaks galore.
@knottieamusements actually it’s honestly a pretty easy mistake for someone who doesn’t know which diapers to use. They look like disposable pull ups, except they have fish all over them and say something like “pampers swimmys” or something in a weird font on the back. Except, she’s watched the girls a zillion times before and KNOWS where the normal diapers are, and we keep the swimmy diapers in a bucket in a corner of the girls’ closet where she would have no reason to look.
@kiwi2628 no you’re not crazy. That’s exactly what we use. Same stuff we bought for the dog when we were house training him. Still haven’t found the spot though, so it’ll probably be dried and extra nasty.
Bump app, you terrible and keep eating my posts. Anyway.
@jennybean80 That’s awful. Our other babysitter kept putting the diapers on backwards (like, for weeks) until I finally remembered to tell her it was wrong. I don’t think she ever had any problems with leaks though, strangely.
@kiwi2628 that’s exactly why we didn’t tell anyone DS’s name until after he was born! Everyone feels the need to give their opinion when you share beforehand, and we didn’t want any of the commentary. People are much more quiet about their opinions once there’s a baby attached to the name.
It just baffles me how people get on here and just totally miss the 'Welcome! READ THIS FIRST! Thread... Do they not read anything before they get started? I remember when I first started looking at this community. I saw the READ THIS FIRST! Thought 'oh I should read that first...' read it, lurked for awhile, and joined in. It's not that hard to do! I like that this is organized! I went onto Babycenter this pregnancy, just to try it out and see if I'd like it, and it was sooo confusing! It was just chaos on there and it made my brain hurt. So, here I am

I'm pretty sure I'm guilty of skipping the pinned posts when I first joined. I think I was also annoyed by the snark. By the time I joined O16, I'd figured the board out and loved it.
@coffee-saur It took me a minute to figure it all out as well. I didn't realize there were so many rules and at first I was confused by it all. But I also use the "what to expect" forums and they have absolutely no organization or rules at all. Its wayyyyyy too many posts and just all jumbled up so now I get why its so structured here and I love it. This keeps it easier to follow and easier to get to know everyone.
Woke up to my nostrils burning from the smell of natural gas. Turned our heat off and called the gas company, who in turn called 911 because we live in a multiple-unit dwelling.
If it wasn't our house, GUESS WHO'S IT WAS?!
Nailed it! Our neighbors. They left the stove knob on for 12+ hours.
My landlord is offering them money to move out today.
@coffee-saur - It is like that on all internet forums. Even if they see the rules, they won’t read them because they are “too long” or “confusing” or the OP “didn’t think they applied to their situation” or whatever.
This group actually has remarkably few rules, and the waiting period should give people who are actually eager to join and participate a chance to learn about the group’s flow.
But people don’t do that either. Honestly, I think those people are more concerned about being the center of attention than making friends. (Like- I know how exciting it would be to discover that a friend is due on the same day, but why would you call if a total stranger who you have literally never exchanged two words with is?)
@SawyerRichardson They're not even like...super young idiots! They're late 20's, maybe 30 years old. I swear, it's an absolute disaster. Fortunately, my landlord said he'd rather have an empty studio apartment than to lose us as tenants. That's nice and all, but if they don't move...I'm outta here. I have a family and shit to think about.
So my sweet fella and I got all dressed up yesterday so we could take our pregnancy announcement photos. I put on makeup for maybe the 3rd time since I found out I was pregnant and fixed my hair, and he kept telling me how pretty I am with this starry-eyed look in his eyes. We watched some TV on his ipad in bed before we went to sleep and then when I was about ready to pass out, we were lying down, facing each other, and he got this goofy look on his face and practically giggled. "You have so many grey hairs," he said.
I mean, I'd already had my Sunday pregnancy hormone snap at him earlier, so I just shook my head and said, "That's soooooo not the right thing to say right now."
@knottieamusements if this already got answered i missed it so just ignore this...but swim diapers look very similar to pull-ups but are meant to contain poop in a pool. they are not absorbent though (because that would not work very well in water) so do not contain pee at all. Once i thought about it it seemed obvious, but I figured it out with my first the first time i put him in one too soon before we actually got in the pool and ended up completely soaked myself.
Dear Bump,
Why do you hate me today? I just want to click “Love It” and you tell me I need to enable JavaScript. I have done nothing between the earlier clicks and now, so it isn’t me. It is clearly you.
It also doesn’t matter if it is the app or through a browser. Don’t you know that I am already traumatized by computer things this week?
@DunkinDecaf it was SO sad to see how empty the sidelines were this year! My old college roommate is still crushing it right now...I bet she can't wait to be at Copley!
@chopchop25 good for her! I mean I don’t even begin to understand why someone would run a marathon, but I’m sure especially in this weather whatever is fulfilling about doing something that bananas and hard is probably extra special!

How does something like that happen?
