@ecwk I take pepcid for heartburn. I had it REALLY bad with DD but not until 3rd tri. It's already ramping up this time so I've been taking it as needed.
I had heartburn really bad with DS and took Zantac constantly, mainly later in 2nd tri and all 3rd tri. It hasn't started quite yet, but I'm sure it's coming again.
Thanks so much, ladies! @pghctwife I did take the max dosage of zantac last time and it did help. Tums and papaya enzymes did nothing. I found an old bottle of expired Ranitidine last night and I took one and it seemed to help. @lalala2004 I did not know that about Tums etc making it worse. Why is that? I read people saying that vanilla ice cream / shakes help but God knows I do not need those calories / that sugar!
Yeah I’m on team extreme heartburn too. Luckily it’s not been AS bad yet (says the girl on rx meds for it - but it’s a lower dose and fully controlled!)
none of the ‘crunchy’ stuff helped me and I tend to avoid meds too but I was unable to sleep, swallowing back vomit, etc. it was constant. I used to say that it was my payback for no morning sickness. Except this time I had ms and then heartburn! But I can still eat sweets so it isn’t so bad.
sugar is bad for it. Anything with fat. Toast. Bread. Water. Chocolate. Anything spicy. Anything acidic. Dairy. Coffee. I remember trying to search for foods that HELP and found zero. Apples supposedly but I didn’t find them to help. I had a few things I had to avoid regardless like chocolate and spicy but at least on the meds I could drink water lol.
And a very moderate amount of hair, not the massive head of hair ppl kept saying the baby would have - that one drove me nuts, no, it’s my body/physiology doing it.
Has anyone used a Dock-A-Tot and would recommend it? I'm thinking of grabbing one and not sure if I should go right for the bigger one so I can use it longer or if baby would like the smaller one initially because it would be more cozy.

It has been mentioned a few times. I think @calimom2524 might have had one? I have been looking in to it and was planning to get it. I am starting to doubt that decision though, I know how paranoid I was about DS sleeping as a newborn and since we're not supposed to use pillows or bumpers or anything in a crib, then how would a dock a tot be safe? And I don't think I would use it for cosleeping, because I would just cosleep without it. IDK.
ETA but if you were just using it for supervised sleep while you are awake, then that's a different story.
Yup, I had one for DS2. I didn't get one until he was 18 months old (I think that's around the time they came out) and for me it was worth the money. He slept so much better in his own bed with that thing in it. I got the larger one, I think it's the grand, because he was larger, obvs. I plan to bedshare with this LO so I'll be investing in another one because unfortunately mine is still in Texas and I'd rather buy a new one than deal with my ex.
@ecwk thank you! I remember it being brought up, my preggo brain is having trouble remembering what was said. I was super paranoid about DD sleeping last time and I have a feeling I will be just as crazy this time, so I was planning on using it for supervised sleep when I'm awake. DD would only nap in my arms and I really want to avoid that this time
@calimom2524 do you think you will go straight for the big one or buy the infant size this time?
@rocknrollmom I think I'm probably going to get the smaller one because the grand is HUGE and I want to use it for cosleeping. If it works for us I may upgrade to the bigger one when she's bigger but I think they fit in the small one for a while.

I'm just curious, because I plan to co sleep too, but why would you prefer cosleeping with the dock a tot? Is it because it is safer? That's what I was feeling initially but now it's making me nervous. Eurgh why can't this be easy?
I'm going to put this in a spoiler because it may be triggering to some. TW for child injury.
I coslept with DS2 and when he was 8 months old he rolled out of the bed while we were sleeping and landed on his head on our wood floor. He fractured his skull and had a concussion. It was the hardest, longest, most emotional 4 days of my life being in the hospital with him and getting put through the ringer with CPS trying to prove I was a negligent mother. Because of this I want to make sure I am cosleeping safer this time and I feel like if she's in a dock a tot she will be less likely to roll around.
Thanks for sharing. I am so sorry you went through that. DS rolled out of my bed once too, albeit when he was a little older, it was still scary. I was always scared, no matter where he slept. I think the dock a tot will put your mind at greater ease for sure! Big hugs!
@rocknrollmom I have the DockaTot Grande, but I've never used it for cosleeping and I agree it would be massive in your bed. I love that thing, it was magical for us getting DS to sleep in his crib once he was too big for his RnP (yes, I'm well aware that it's not supposed to be used in a crib). He would snuggle it like it was my arms and he slept so much better with it.
@calimom2524 I am so so sorry that happened to you. Something similar happened to me. Big hugs, I hate that you know that feeling.
Thanks, girls! It was a couple of years ago so the PTSD (like legitimate PTSD, I couldn't go near a doctor's office or hospital without getting a panic attack for at least a year) is finally gone and I've made my peace with what happened. Plus, in the long run he was fine and has no lingering effects from it so we ended up very very lucky. I'm sorry you've been through something similar @livinthesunnylife it's nothing I would wish even on my worst enemy.
DS slept in the rock n play until 4 months, when he out grew it. Then we co slept because it was the only way he’d sleep. I do feel like the dock a tot will make it safer somehow if he does end up in our bed.
ETA: how scary & awful that must have been @calimom2524

We have the small one and loved it for DD. We only used it for naps through the day though while I could supervise. She slept great in that thing and I can’t wait to use it again. I do not plan to use it for cosleeping (not my thing at all). I definitely think is worth the money, especially if you plan to have more kids.
I used the Medela microwave sterilizer bags for my pump parts when DS was in the NICU. Side note: If you'll be pumping a lot, it's a good idea to buy a second set of them once you figure out which size works best, so you don't have to wash them as often. We always washed bottles in the dishwasher.
I'm considering getting the Dock-A-Tot as well. The point of it is to make them feel sort of like they're being snuggled, so I don't see the grande one working for an infant. I really want this baby to like the Halo Bassinest, but DS didn't, so I think I'm going to get the Dock-A-Tot from somewhere with a good return policy, and just wait to use it until I see if he'll tolerate the bassinet or not, and that way it can be a middle of the night decision if need be.

I have. Admittedly I like them but they aren't my favorite swaddle blankets. They're too slinky to get a tight grip on a swaddle but they're a good weight to be used for other things like nap time, nursing cover, or car seat cover. One of the Tula's I bought on the BST she sent me two free blankets so that was sweet.
@calimom2524 Awesome! I totally agree. I prefer the A&A blankets for swaddling, but DS looooves the first one (Clever) that I got him. They're so nice and soft, and great for tummy time. I found a rainbow heart set this time (I'm blanking on the name) after I got my BFP that I'm excited about.

Are toddlers babies? I've always thought of "baby" as a collective term for newborns and infants, but once a kid is walking and talking (about a year old) they are not babies anymore. I saw something that said that babies are up to four years old today, and it blew my mind that anyone would think that, but what do I know?
*I don't mean in the sense that your kid will always be your baby, but in real terms.

Nah, toddlers are once they walk. A 4 year old is a preschooler, not a baby. That’s weird.
^ I find it weird when people refer to their 4 year olds as toddlers. I feel like even my son is kind of moving past the toddler stage and he’s turning 3 soon.

I don't recommend dairy to help, the cellular process is actually opposite of what you want.
There's also a max dose of tums/otc antacids and liquids because of the metals they contain so just read the label.
