I’m also a no for a surprise shower. In theory sounds great, but in actuality I want to be prepared so I can get a good nights rest and be prepared for a big day!
Don’t know where else to put this, so here works I guess! Has anyone else moved mid pregnancy? There is a possibility that DH will be getting a new job (a promotion he has wanted for a while) but it is 5 states away. We have no family there, have never been, and we would have to pack up and leave pretty quick. I want him to be happy at work and feel like he’s doing what he wants professionally, but it is a big move for our family. I’m high risk as well, and love my doctors practice, and am the most nervous about finding a new practice that knows about my complications. I want to support him, but I’m so torn!
@kc0711 Any chance you could wait to move until after the baby comes? Could he commute or telecommute? I understand wanting to stay where you have some family and an OB you like.
I moved 2 miles last time I was pregnant, and that was stressful enough.
Thanks so much everyone! I’m currently here by myself trying to coordinate everyone’s activities for the evening and the dr just told me it was a lot worse than they thought and took a lot longer. He has a some other things wrong they discovered that made it a bit more complicated, but at least now that we know about them, we can do some follow-ups to get them taken care of. Almost a blessing in disguise that he had to have surgery. Thanks again for all the positive vibes!
@shri929 that's about when my bh started with my son and I went until my induction at 39 weeks with no real labor signs beforehand, so it might end up being just bh and ok @kburg15 Oh no!! I hope his recovery is smooth, I'm sorry they found more complications
@kburg15 sorry to hear that. Hopefully he has a smooth recovery. I had my appendix out but it hadn’t erupted yet so it was easy peasy. Good thing they have a plan for him.
@kc0711 I second the Can he go first and you come after? I would be worried to leave my doctor if I were high risk. I would also be worried about askOmg my husband to put his dream on hold as well. Hopefully you guys can figure something out that would benefit both of you.
@kburg15 thinking about you and your husband. Hope recovery goes smoothly!
Just found out that we are dealing with a patient with disseminated herpes zoster tomorrow. I've been instructed to stay out of the room (thank goodness) but it makes me nervous to even have secondary contact (like with my coworkers who will be going in to see her). I know I work in healthcare and this is part of it, but I'm definitely more anxious about something like this. Just got to hope that everyone practices appropriate precautions and hygiene.
@kburg15 - sending loads of healing vibes your way. I hope the follow-ups for the additional complications go smoothly!
@kc0711 - that is a huge move! Is there a time frame that they are thinking? If I were in your shoes I would see if you and DH could go out to the new location for a week, line up some interviews with new doctors and talk to your current doctor about the possible relocation. Ideally, I would wait until after the baby is born but that isn't always possible. I'm sorry you may be faced with such a difficult decision.
@kc0711 my SIL and her husband moved when she was 6 month pregnant and she had GD. She had enough time to find a doctor. We helped them move but don't live in the area. I think her main concern was having my BIL close by. Also they didn't have any kids at the time.
Personally if I had to choose between having DH around and my doc I would choose DH, but I'm not high risk. For me the day to day benefit of having him around would out weight the other stuff.
Haha @Brezzy1928 I’m thankful they don’t!!! I’d be broker than I already will be. They’re releasing new ones this week that I of course must have. Damn them!
@kburg15 How scary! I hope his recovery goes smoothly and the other issues get taken care of quickly!
@hezzer78 I totally get it. Due to my loss history and overactive uterus in past pregnancies, we haven't had sex since conception, and won't get to until basically I'm ready to have this baby. So many friends say how sex is sooo great during pregnancy, but despite me having 4 pregnancies now, I've never gotten to experience it due to my issues. Lame.
@melbel0824 I don't think I'd want a surprise shower either, unless they'd tell me the date to look pretty. Maybe if your friend's MIL absolutely insists on the surprise, just tell her to make sure she looks cute that day and have her play along?
@calimom2524 Congrats on baby girl Cora Fiona Seven!
I really wouldn't mind pregnancy besides the ms and migraines, but PGAL brain sucks. I legitimately have ptsd from my losses, so it's a mind game every day. I'm just glad that I can enjoy baby kicks and rolls daily now, and hopefully once I get to 24 weeks (viability) I can relax a little bit.

I did my yearly screaming match with Navient, and got to do my 'how do you sleep at night?' I always end up yelling at them. We're going to look into refinancing my loans with Citizens One tomorrow.

@jsnakehole I finally get to pay my navient loans off the day baby is due. I've been battling them so long, and usually end up saying much worse/getting hung up on. Fingers crossed you were successful
@calimom2524 congrats on the baby girl! I think celebration tieks are in order- the emerald ones?
@calimom2524 I already had it in my had that you are having a girl, so I'm glad it's confirmed. I probably would have been slightly disappointed to find out Seven was a boy, lol.

Same! I thought you already knew you're having a girl! But yayyy for CFS!!!!
DS woke up...SIX effing times last night. Six. 6. Like wtf dude. That was straight up rude.
Short lived joy today; i suddenly have a RAGING UTI. So that’s fun. Luckily I already had an OB appointment today but man some quick relief would be great.
One of my students asked if I was pregnant today. We were getting ready for dismissal and she was staring at my belly and asked. I asked her why she was asking and she just said, "I don't know, I was just wondering." All the while staring at my belly. I was half-expecting her to say "because you're fat now." I'll probably have to tell my class in the next two weeks.

I told my classes today. One male sophomore chimed in with “yeah, everyone already knew that”. Eyeroll.
I have been completely MIA on vacation this week. We’re in Key Largo visiting some family, but DH and I got to sneak away to Key West kid-free did two nights and it was so great. It had been a while since we reconnected. I wish I could’ve had a mojito or two, but you can’t have it all.
I agree with most of you that being pregnant is tough. I’m already getting so worn out with simply things like walking while carrying DS2. At first the pregnancy was going quickly, but now it feels like it’s dragging...
@calimom2524 I am so happy for you. Congrats on babygirl SEVEN.
Add me to team pregnancy SUUUUCCCKKKSSSSS. As someone else mentioned, this is a big reason my kids are all 4-5 years apart. It just takes that much time for me to regroup and forget enough to be all, “Sure, I can do that, again,” and quickly I’m like WTH did I do. Lol.
I love the outcome. Labor is always long and has always required induction but I don’t mind it. I looooooovvvve nursing. But if I could skip the whole pregnancy part. That’d be ACES! Lol.
Thank you all for making a first time mom feel sane. I hate complaining, especially since I wanted pregnancy and a baby so much. Most women I have spoken to fall into the unicorn category, and it helps knowing (selfishly) that I am not alone.
@calimom2524 congrats! I keep picturing a toddler girl with purple hair... And that is kind of awesome.
@jsnakehole don't you teach like 1st grade?! I'm pretty sure I was totally oblivious to the fact that my teacher was a real person, much less that they could have babies at that age. Guess you said you taught gifted kids though, right? Sounds like you handled it okay though!
After a 14 hr work day, we foolishly decided to go buy a new oven and microwave. Oven broke this weekend so didn't want to put it off. Happy with the choice we made, but downright exhausted! Hopeful for a good nights sleep with a quiet pager. *knock on wood*
I was like a month away from my due date when I told the kids in children’s church I wasn’t going to be teaching them for awhile because I was having a baby, and they were all surprised. They had no idea I was pregnant. These were K-3rd graders.
@doctormom33 She has a younger brother that's only a few years old so I think she remembers her mom being pregnant. I'll probably break down and tell them if a few more ask.

Thank you everyone for the input! I think I could possibly put off moving until June, but DH would likely have to go in April. So I’d wrap up everything here during those two months (sell the house and pack) and DH would get things set up at the new place. I’m a military kid, so I’m used to moving at a moments notice, but the baby just makes things a little more nerve racking! But I think I’d rather be close to DH than be with my doctor that I know. He has another interview tomorrow, so we’ll see!
I had an easy pregnancy last time but by the time I was full term I wanted nothing but to deliver that baby, I was so uncomfortable. But then I had a colicky tyrant and would have sold my soul to put that baby back in for another trimester. This time around I'm just trying to enjoy and be grateful since having a miscarriage.
My son was a maniac today. All day my husband and I were both like, WTH is going on??? He's down to one nap a day but went down for a nap one hour after waking today. The rest of the day was full of tantrums and screams. I really hope it's just teething or a growth spurt.
Add me to the “I hate pregnancy” group. Also, we announced tonight. DHs 18 y/o sister asked why we didn’t tell her sooner. I said because it wasn’t planned and we wanted to work out details and get used to the idea first before sharing. This is her response: ”Maybe this is because I'm still a child and I'm not in that mom mindset, but did you guys think of other options?”
...... three weeks left of school and day four of my new job. I’m not sure I’ll make it.
