@SweetSweetTooth - I’m filing that under “shit happens” and am super proud of Mom for actually figuring out Facebook. I’m trying to decide between waiting until this Sunday since our friends don’t cross over, or reaching out. I reached out to one of my closer friends, but the rest, “eh?”
We tell my mom's entire side of the family in a couple hours and I'm suddenly so nervous!!! I know they all be super excited for us so idk why I'm nervous
We had planned on getting a “we’re egg-specting” cookie cake for my husbands family tomorrow, but will probably wait since I didn’t get confirmation yet.
I'm wondering if it's rude/insensitive to do a an Easter pregnancy announcement? Like, the bug one on social media. I'm concerned because it's also April Fools Day and I don't want to offend anyone or for anyone to think we may be joking.
We have THE CUTEST Easter themed announcement picture though...
@appleofmyeye1028 I think it could be a bit insensitive, especially if you don’t know if anyone on your friend list has been through a loss or difficulties before. The timing does stink this year with April Fools Day, that’s for sure! Could you share it today, in anticipation of Easter, or first thing Easter morning? And you can certainly share with us, if you want (though might recommend blocking any personal info in the photo)...I love a cute announcement!
@appleofmyeye1028 so cute! Saw you got some different advice in the questions thread, so I think I may be the outlier. I’d say go with what makes you comfortable. I think my other thing about April fools day is everyone coming back to say ‘wait is it a joke?’ Hopefully they know since it’s such a cute staged photo that it’s not, but I don’t want to answer that a million times. But you know your fb audience better than we do! We are going with the day after, but that’s also for a family reason.
Part of me thinks that it's a more "elaborate" announcement and that people wouldn't expect something like that for a joke. However, I think you could get the same Easter affect posting today.
We are announcing sex tomorrow, but we've already announced we are expecting.
Could you share it today, in anticipation of Easter, or first thing Easter morning?
I would actually suggest sharing later in the day if you are concerned about it being misconstrued as an April Fool’s joke. In a lot of areas, all April Fool’s pranks are supposed to be ended by Noon.
Never knew that @knottieamusements! We aren’t an April Fools or much of a prank/joke family but now I’m super curious about some of the other traditions...
I dont get why people would be offended by an official pregnancy announcement, if it falls on April fools day. If it's obviously not a joke how can it be offensive? Am I just dense?
@Laumb11 every year people post fake “I’m pregnant” things on April Fools, usually with a “just kidding” in the comments. It can be a really touchy subject for people dealing with infertility (1 in 8) or with miscarriage/pregnancy loss (1 in 4), so I think people are just hesitant to post real announcements in case they inadvertently hurt someone who thinks they are doing a prank.
That being said, I think real announcements are fine, and I agree that here April Fools stuff is supposed to be done by noon.

I understand if it were a joke that’s gruel. But not getting if it’s real why it should wait. It’s Easter, a great time to tell people.
Checking in to wish everyone announcing this weekend a wonderful time! Hoping it's such a special moment, filled with so much love, joy, and happiness!
Just messed up announcement to DH’s side. DS was already dressed in his big brother shirt for this afternoon. Quick trip to the grocery store and ran into the in laws. Surprise!
@alexandramiles that's adorable! We told family yesterday and posted today on social media, so far it gone Well! Only one person mentioned it being April fools but my mom shut that down before I could which was nice(: Hope everyone else's announcements continue to go well!!
We've told immediate family and some close friends already, but I ordered something from Etsy for an announcement photo. It hasn't shipped yet, and I'm already so antsy!
We actually have two announcement "ideas" - my husband wants to post one, and I'll post the other. I'm a beer blogger, so I got a "there's a baby brewing" shirt and we plan to take a photo with me wearing that and my husband holding a bottle of our first homebrew, with a cute caption.
This was ours today! (To answer questions before asked about my last post, roommates will be gone by the end of the month. Glad to be back ) Kudos for those who get the joke!!
If I can ever get my 2 year old to cooperate I’ll have her hold this sign (or sit next to it) in a sister bear shirt. I really want to announce soon. We waited until viability with my daughter due to complications but this pregnancy is going so much smoother and I’m trying hard to be joyful and positive in ways i was scared to be with her. I guess I need to get that picture taken soon though huh?
I’m stuck. My youngest sons birthday is on Sunday and instead of having our families come over to our house we are going to each of our parents houses to visit and and let him open presents. We will be having a bbq at the in laws. We want to tell both sets of parents separately. We haven’t told our boys or our families the news yet so I thought this may finally be the perfect opportunity and we could maybe tell our boys the night before. BUT.. as I mentioned, it’s my sons birthday and I kind of feel like it should just be about him and I don’t want to take “his” day away. He’s 4 so he wouldn’t think anything of it, but I think I would feel bad! Maybe I’m just overthinking it lol. Maybe he would be so excited that he gets to share this news on his birthday.. I don’t know. This is a ridiculous post lol.
@ohmotherofboys - what about waiting until the last half hour of each visit to tell your family? That way, your son gets most of the attention on his big day, but you can still tell everyone personally?
@ohmotherofboys I wouldn't think any thing of it. I would do it when visiting. He will be so preoccupied with presents to even really care. (well mine would be lol)
I was thinking the same thing about waiting until the last little while! They may blurt it out before that if they know about it because I want to tell them at home with just us first We’ll just wing it and see how it goes! Either way everyone will be overjoyed!

Thoughts? Would you wait for another day?
@nasalot188 that's adorable!! I love it, so not corny in the slightest
I think we'll announce in a couple weeks. My sister is due any day now and I'd like for her to have her moment.
We’ll just wing it and see how it goes! Either way everyone will be overjoyed!
